Efficient heat removal through the substrate is required in high-power operation of AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs). Thus, a SiC substrate was used due to its popularity. This article reports the electrical characteristics of normally off p-GaN gate AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) on a low-resistivity SiC substrate compared with the traditional Si substrate. The p-GaN HEMTs on the SiC substrate possess several advantages, including electrical characteristics and good qualities of epitaxial crystals, especially on temperature performance. Additionally, the price of the low-resistivity SiC substrate is three times lower than the ordinary SiC substrate. The development of sensitive methods for the determination of potential bacterial contamination is of upmost importance for environmental monitoring and food safety. In this study, we present a new method combining a fast pre-enrichment step using a microporous cryogel and a detection and identification step using antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) and labelled antibodies, respectively. The experimental method consists of (i) the capture of large amounts of bacteria from liquid samples by using a highly porous and functionalized cryogel; (ii) the detection and categorisation of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria by determining their affinities toward a small set of AMPs; and (iii) the identification of the bacterial strain by using labelled detection antibodies. As proof of concept, the assessment of the three steps of the analysis was performed by using Escherichia coli and Bacillus sp. as models for Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, respectively. The use of AMPs with broad specificity combined with labelled antibodies enabled the detection and potential categorization of a large spectrum of unknown or unexpected bacteria.Microalgae represent a carbon-neutral source of bulk biomass, for extraction of high-value compounds and production of renewable fuels. Due to their high metabolic activity and reproduction rates, species of the genus Chlorella are highly productive when cultivated in photobioreactors. However, wild-type strains show biological limitations making algal bioproducts expensive compared to those extracted from other feedstocks. Such constraints include inhomogeneous light distribution due to high optical density of the culture, and photoinhibition of the surface-exposed cells. Thus, the domestication of algal strains for industry makes it increasingly important to select traits aimed at enhancing light-use efficiency while withstanding excess light stress. Carotenoids have a crucial role in protecting against photooxidative damage and, thus, represent a promising target for algal domestication. We applied chemical mutagenesis to Chlorella vulgaris and selected for enhanced tolerance to the carotenoid biosynthesis inhibitor norflurazon. The NFR (norflurazon-resistant) strains showed an increased carotenoid pool size and enhanced tolerance towards photooxidative stress. Growth under excess light revealed an improved carbon assimilation rate of NFR strains with respect to WT. selleck inhibitor We conclude that domestication of Chlorella vulgaris, by optimizing both carotenoid/chlorophyll ratio and resistance to photooxidative stress, boosted light-to-biomass conversion efficiency under high light conditions typical of photobioreactors. Comparison with strains previously reported for enhanced tolerance to singlet oxygen, reveals that ROS resistance in Chlorella is promoted by at least two independent mechanisms, only one of which is carotenoid-dependent.In order to explore the impact of a manufacturer's or retailer's undertaking corporate social responsibility (CSR) and different power structures on their joint green marketing decisions and profits in the green supply chain, this paper establishes green supply chain optimization models under six different decision-making scenarios according to two different CSR bearers and three different power structures. Based on the main assumptions of a linear product demand function and CSR measured by consumer surplus, this paper solves the equilibrium solutions of the manufacturer and the retailer through game theory. The results show that First, the difference in the degree of CSR undertaken by manufacturers and retailers leads to a difference in the ranking of optimal strategies of both parties under the three power structures. Second, under the same power structure, compared with undertaking CSR by oneself, when the other party undertakes CSR, the level of the product's green degree, the level of green promotion, the party's own profit, and the profit of the other party are all higher. Third, regardless of the power structure, manufacturers and retailers undertaking CSR is conducive to improving the level of product greenness, increasing green promotion, lowering the retail price, increasing consumers' willingness to buy green products, and ultimately helping to increase the profits of manufacturers and retailers.Though previously studies have reported that Low reactive Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) promotes wound healing, molecular level evidence was uncleared. The purpose of this study is to examine the temporal molecular processes of human immortalized gingival fibroblasts (HGF) by LLLT by the comprehensive analysis of gene expression. HGF was seeded, cultured for 24 h, and then irradiated with a Nd YAG laser at 0.5 W for 30 s. After that, gene differential expression analysis and functional analysis were performed with DNA microarray at 1, 3, 6 and 12 h after the irradiation. The number of genes with up- and downregulated differentially expression genes (DEGs) compared to the nonirradiated group was large at 6 and 12 h after the irradiation. From the functional analysis results of DEGs, Biological Process (BP) based Gene Ontology (GO), BP 'the defense response' is considered to be an important process with DAVID. Additionally, the results of PPI analysis of DEGs involved in the defense response with STRING, we found that the upregulated DEGs such as CXCL8 and NFKB1, and the downregulated DEGs such as NFKBIA and STAT1 were correlated with multiple genes. We estimate that these genes are key genes on the defense response after LLLT.
