Studies have discussed long noncoding RNA DDX11-AS1 (DDX11-AS1)-mediated downstream mechanism in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The goal of this study was to investigate the regulatory mechanism of DDX11-AS1-mediated microRNA-34a-3p (miR-34a-3p)/tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 5 (TRAF5) axis on HCC cells.

DDX11-AS1, miR-34a-3p and TRAF5 expression levels in HCC were detected. The correlation of DDX11-AS1, miR-34a-3p and TRAF5 in HCC patients was analyzed by Pearson test. HCC cells were transfected with corresponding plasmid/oligonucleotide, and cell proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis and tumor formation ability were detected. Bioinformatics software, dual luciferase report experiment and RNA-pull down experiment analysis were applied to verify the targeting relationship between DDX11-AS1, miR-34a-3p and TRAF5.

Elevated DDX11-AS1 and TRAF5 and reduced miR-34a-3p exhibited in HCC. Silenced DDX11-AS1 or up-regulated miR-34a-3p inhibited the proliferation, migration, invasion, promoted apoptosis of HCC cells and repressed the tumor growth in nude mice. In addition, DDX11-AS1 bound to miR-34a-3p to target TRAF5. Silencing TRAF5 or elevating miR-34a-3p expression mitigated up-regulated DDX11-AS1-mediated promotion of tumor growth.

Silenced DDX11-AS1 or up-regulated miR-34a-3p inhibits HCC cell growth via elevation of TRAF5, which could be of great benefit to find early diagnostic markers for HCC patients.

Although the frequency and magnitude of climate change-related health hazards (CCRHHs) are likely to increase, the population vulnerabilities and corresponding health impacts are dependent on a community's exposures, pre-existing sensitivities, and adaptive capacities in response to a hazard's impact. To evaluate spatial variability in relative vulnerability, we 1) identified climate change-related risk factors at the dissemination area level; 2) created actionable health vulnerability index scores to map community risks to extreme heat, flooding, wildfire smoke, and ground-level ozone; and 3) spatially evaluated vulnerability patterns and priority areas of action to address inequity.

A systematic literature review was conducted to identify the determinants of health hazards among populations impacted by CCRHHs. Identified determinants were then grouped into categories of exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity and aligned with available data. Data were aggregated to 4188 Census dissemination areas wfy and prioritise actionable areas for adaptation.
Adiposity is a major component of the metabolic syndrome (MetS), low muscle strength has also been identified as a risk factor for MetS and for cardiovascular disease. We describe the prevalence of MetS and evaluate the relationship between muscle strength, anthropometric measures of adiposity, and associations with the cluster of the components of MetS, in a middle-income country.

MetS was defined by the International Diabetes Federation criteria. To assess the association between anthropometric variables (waist circumference (WC), waist-to-hip ratio (W/H), body mass index (BMI)), strength (handgrip/kg bodyweight (HGS/BW)) and the cluster of MetS, we created a MetS score. For each alteration (high triglycerides, low HDLc, dysglycemia, or high blood pressure) one point was conferred. To evaluate the association an index of fatmuscle and MetS score, participants were divided into 9 groups based on combinations of sex-specific tertiles of WC and HGS/BW.

The overall prevalence of MetS in the 5,026 participants (64% women; mean age 51.2years) was 42%. click here Lower HGS/BW, and higher WC, BMI, and W/H were associated with a higher MetS score. Amongst the 9 HGS/BWWC groups, participants in the lowest tertile of HGS/BW and the highest tertile of WC had a higher MetS score (OR = 4.69 in women and OR = 8.25 in men;p < 0.01) compared to those in the highest tertile of HGS/BW and in the lowest tertile of WC.

WC was the principal risk factor for a high MetS score and an inverse association between HGS/BW and MetS score was found. Combining these anthropometric measures improved the prediction of metabolic alterations over either alone.

Identifying the prevalence of orofacial malignancies is essential to provide health-care programs and services for a specific population. This study aimed to specify the prevalence, clinical and histopathological features of oral malignancies in Sulaimani for over 12years.

All archived reports for orofacial specimens from 2008 to 2019 were collected from three major centers in Sulaimani governorate. The demographic data, date, type of surgery, lesion's site, and diagnosis were recorded. The ICD-10 coding was specified for each case. A Chi-square test was used to assess differences between genders. A one-way ANOVA test was applied to analyze the differences in mean age distributions among different sites of oral malignancies and oral squamous cell carcinoma histopathological grades. P < 0.05 was considered significant.

Orofacial malignant lesions account for 14.53% of the total sample. Patients' mean age was (55.46 ± 18.48) years, and they were predominantly males (M F ratio = 1.151). The tongue was the frequently affected site (14.8%). A Chi-square test showed no significant difference between genders concerning age (P = 0.118), years of registration (P = 0.28), and site (P = 0.29). The C06 (represents; cheek mucosa C06.0, the vestibule of mouth C06.1, retromolar area C06.2, and other unspecified parts of mouth C06.8) was the most frequent topographical ICD-code (18.1%). Carcinoma was a frequent malignancy (63.2%). OSCC was the most common lesion (56.4%). It commonly affects males, and the tongue was the frequent site (24.1%) followed by lip (17.8%).

There is a slight increase in the registered oral malignancies in Sulaimani city over 12years; they were predominated in males, in 61-70years old patients, and being oral squamous cell carcinoma types.
