The descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at Radiology and Surgery departments of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi, from January 1 to June 30, 2016, and comprised patients of either gender having severe clinical pancreatitis with symptoms lasting >72 hours without showing improvement. Of the 191 patients, 97 (50.8%) were female, and 129 (67.50%) were aged >40 years, with an overall mean age of 39.65±11.67 years. Mean duration of the symptoms was 85.61±6.41 hours. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography scan's sensitivity was 71.4%, specificity 87%, positive predictive value 83.33%, negative predictive value 76.99% and over all diagnostic accuracy was 79.5%.

To evaluate the treatment options applied to solitary caecal diverticulitis patients, and to explore the possibility of non-operative treatments.

The retrospective study was conducted a tertiary referral centre, and comprised data of patients who presented with acute abdominal pain and were diagnosed either preoperatively or intraoperatively as cases of solitary caecal diverticulitis between January 2009 and December 2017. Data on demographics, physical examination findings, laboratory results, treatment modalities and outpatient clinical records was noted, and analysed analysed using SPSS 21.

Of the 580 patients whose medical records were reviewed, 11(1.89%) were diagnosed as cases of solitary caecal diverticulitis. Of them, 6(54.5%) patients were treated conservatively, and 5(45.4%) surgically. The disease recurred in 1(9%) patient who was treated conservatively. Among those treated surgically, 1(20%) patient had hemicolectomy, and the rest had appendectomy and/or diverticulectomy and drainage procedures. There were no major complications during the follow- up.

With accurate diagnosis during preoperative period, the spread of the pathology helps to choose the best suitable surgical technique. Appendectomy should be performed to avoid future diagnostic confusion.

To identify and explain the interactions and network of the relationship between influential factors of out-ofpocket payments for health services.

This futures study was conducted in 2015 in Iran, and comprised experts of various sectors. At first, key factors and driven forces of out-of-pocket payments were detected; then, the factors were collected in the form of a square-matrix questionnaire; and completed based on impact of each factor on the occurrence probability of others, with collective agreement, so the role of any factor in forecasting out-of-pocket status in future was identified by cross-impact analysis. MicMac software was used for data analysis.

As many as 35 factors were identified which affected out-of pocket payments. The factors were categorised in four main roles, i.e. influencing, two-sided, dependent and independent. Some economic factors which had a higher impact on other system factors were influencing factors; they were the most critical components because the system changes were dependent on them. In contrast, some factors related to organising the health system were depending factors and were affected by the least changes in other factors. There are 10 factors in this group. These factors were mainly related to the utilisation of health services by a special look to the part of delivery (public or private).

To evaluate the frequency and trend of vitamin D deficiency, and to find its correlation with demographic and selected biochemical parameters.

The retrospective study was conducted at The Indus Hospital, Karachi, and comprised clinical laboratory data of individuals tested for vitamin D from January 2013 to March 2018. The trend of vitamin D deficiency and frequency was assessed in relation to age, gender and serum levels of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, alkaline phosphatase and parathyroid hormone. Data was analysed using Stata software.

Of the 35,017 tests analysed, 23,522 (67.2%) related to females and 11,495 (32.8%) to males (p<0.05). Overall, 25,051 (71.5%) were vitamin D-deficient while 504 (1.4%) had toxic levels. Age had significant correlation with vitamin D deficiency (p<0.05). No significant correlation was observed with any of the biochemical parameters studied (p>0.05).

To compare the effects of dynamic oscillatory stretch and static stretching techniques in order to improve hamstring extensibility in healthy individuals with asymptomatic hamstring tightness.

The single-blind randomised controlled trial was conducted from March to June 2018 at Sadiq Hospital, Sargodha Institute of Health Sciences, and District Headquarter Teaching Hospital,Sargodha, Pakistan, and comprised young healthy individuals with hamstring tightness who were randomly divided into groups 1 and 2, with the former getting exposure to oscillatory stretch technique and the latter to static stretching technique. Assessment of hamstring length was done using reliable clinical measurement test along with pain for stretch tolerance during passive straight leg raise using numeric pain rating scale. Measurements were taken at baseline, immediate (10min) and 1 hourpost-intervention. Data was analysed using SPSS 20.

Of the 83 subjects, 42(%) were in group 1 with a mean age of 24.22±4.09 years, and 41(%) were in group 2 with a mean age of 25.
