A novel, simple and efficient analytical method for GC-MS based identification of cyanide has been developed using a single step nucleophilic substitution based derivatization of cyanide in aqueous medium. The nucleophilic substitution reaction of cyanide with S-phenyl benzenethiosulfonate results in the formation of phenyl thiocyanate as a cyanide derivative and it was found that the relative response of the resultant cyanide derivative was much higher than that of the cyanide derivatives resulting from disulfide based derivatizing agents. The sample preparation protocol for the identification of cyanide in aqueous samples was also optimized with the new derivatizing agent. Derivatization followed by liquid-liquid extraction was employed for the preparation of aqueous samples containing cyanide salts. The resultant samples were subjected to GC-MS analysis for the identification of the cyanide derivative. Under optimized conditions, the detection and quantification limits for cyanide aqueous samples were found to be 0.075 μg mL-1 and 0.25 μg mL-1 respectively. The calibration curve had a linear relationship with y = 0.086x - 0.076 and r2 = 0.997 for the working range of 0.25 μg mL-1 to 50 μg mL-1. The intraday RSDs were between 2.24 and 8.17%, and the interday RSDs were between 2.22 and 12.85%. The method can also be successfully employed for the identification of hydrogen cyanide in aqueous medium. The applicability of the present method was demonstrated by analysing a real sample from apple seed extraction.Revealing how to rationally select a suitable dopant or the host counterpart is greatly important for optimizing the catalytic activity of transition metal oxides (TMOs). We systematically report the adsorption trends of atomic O and H, two selected representative adsorbates, on numerous doped rutile-type TMO surfaces under two different doping modes, aiming to demonstrate adsorption energy (AE) variations of different adsorbates across doped TMO surfaces. A "host-guest interaction" induced adsorption tuning rule for the ternary doping systems is identified, which rationally directs the proposal of cost-effective Ir-doped CrO2 or MnO2 catalysts for the electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction compared with the common IrO2.Silicate-carbonate mixtures as new CO2 capture agents have the latent application potential. CO2 sorption or desorption processes using the Na4SiO4-Na2CO3 mixture sorbent in air were analyzed by in situ Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction from 25 °C to 900 °C. FINO2 in vivo The results show that the Na4SiO4-Na2CO3 mixture sorbent could continuously absorb and strip CO2 by thermal swinging. The CO2 sorption was produced via a two-step process depending on the temperature range. Initially, CO2 dissolved in carbonate to produce pyrocarbonate (C2O52-) ions, which subsequently reacted with SiO44- anion to produce the polymer silicates and CO32- anion. The C2O52- anion on the surface of the silicates promoted CO2 transformation to CO32- anion through the reaction with SiO44- anions. The CO32- anion decomposed the polymer silicates to produce orthosilicates and CO2 gas again at high temperature. By this circulation, CO2 could dissolve in carbonate more easily and be absorbed and stripped continuously by thermal swinging in the mixture sorbent than the pure carbonate. The processes of recovering heat and separating CO2 from flue gas simultaneously without decreasing the temperature is an economical and attractive method for energy conservation. It offers the theoretical basis for developing new heat-storage and CO2-capture technology.Affinity Capillary Electrophoresis (ACE) is a useful analytical tool to study noncovalent interactions. However, it remains challenging for ACE to measure weak and unstable interactions due to the fast dissociation of the binding complex and the possible destruction of the complex by a high electric field. In this study, we proposed a two-direction migration strategy that enables ACE to detect weak and unstable but important interactions by decreasing the migration distance of the binding complex and controlling the opposite migration direction of the free probe. By synthesizing a polyacrylamide-coated neutral capillary, free of electroosmotic flow, two-direction CE migration of basic peptides (positively charged) and peptide-RNA complexes (negatively charged) was achieved. Furthermore, the weak interactions between small nuclear U2 RNA and histone peptides were detected by this two-direction migration CE approach. The effects of the methylation states of histone peptides on the weak peptide-RNA interactions were also explored by this new approach. Collectively, the suggested modification of the ACE method is able to qualitatively characterize weak interactions.A novel multifunctional nanoprobe was designed for cancer cell targeted multilayer imaging of two cancer biomarkers. Based on the proposed method, in situ imaging of membrane MUC1 mucin and cytoplasmic microRNA miR-21 coupled with precise photodynamic therapy was achieved. The substantial amount of data generated every second in the big data age creates a pressing requirement for new and advanced data storage techniques. Luminescent nanomaterials (LNMs) not only possess the same optical properties as their bulk materials but also have unique electronic and mechanical characteristics due to the strong constraints of photons and electrons at the nanoscale, enabling the development of revolutionary methods for data storage with superhigh storage capacity, ultra-long working lifetime, and ultra-low power consumption. In this review, we investigate the latest achievements in LNMs for constructing next-generation data storage systems, with a focus on optical data storage and optoelectronic data storage. We summarize the LNMs used in data storage, namely upconversion nanomaterials, long persistence luminescent nanomaterials, and downconversion nanomaterials, and their applications in optical data storage and optoelectronic data storage. We conclude by discussing the superiority of the two types of data storage and survey the prospects for the field.
