Androgen receptor-neuroendocrine double-negative growth together with squamous differentiation as a result of treatment-refractory metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.
Sunnhemp silage can be practically processed and provided as a good roughage source for ruminants. Therefore, sunnhemp silage is recommended as a feeding intervention in the sub-tropical and tropical regions to support the sustainable livestock production.
To evaluate the potential beneficial effect of preoperative face-to-face group education after colonic surgery in a pre-existing ERAS pathway environment.

Patients were randomized to cohorts for 3 weeks to either the standard preoperative counseling by the colorectal surgeon and the nurse practitioner (control group) or to the additional group education (intervention group). Patients scored EORTC-QLQ-info25 after the preoperative information was completed and the EORTC-QLQ-30 and EORTC-QLQ-29 prior to surgery and 1, 3, and 6 months after surgery.

A significantly better level of information was scored considering the expectations and patient involvement in the intervention group. This coincided with a significant reduction of the in-hospital stay, enhanced return to the preoperative global health status, and persistent improved body image after surgery.

By investing in the preoperative group education patients develop more realistic expectations resulting in a perceived improved quality of life and body image 1 month after operation coinciding with a statistically significant reduction in duration of in-hospital stay in this study.

Cancer patients may turn to social media (SM) to cope with distress. We investigated associations between distress and internet/SM use for cancer information/support.

Adult patients at a Canadian cancer centre completed a cross-sectional survey on sociodemographics, health status, use of cancer online resources and distress (EQ5D-5L). Statistical models adjusted for relevant variables.

Of 376 participants, median age was 52 years, time since diagnosis was 1.63 years, 272 (74%) had post-secondary education and 192 (51%) were female. For cancer information/support, 276 (73%) used internet and 147 (39%) SM. Dose response relationships were observed between distress and cancer-related internet (p = 0.02), and SM use (p < 0.001). Respondents using internet/SM for cancer information/support reported greater internet confidence (internet OR = 4.0, 95% CI 1.9-8.3; SM OR = 4.18, 95%, CI 1.9-11.3), higher education (internet OR = 3.0, 95% CI 1.7-5.2; SM OR = 2.21, 95% CI 1.2-4.1) and were more likely female (iurn to SM. Privacy concerns may limit SM use for coping. Future research should determine how to optimize SM in caring for and connecting with patients and reduce cancer-related distress.
Two-dimensional (2D) analyses of intervertebral disc (IVD) height and foramen measurements following lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) have been reported. However, three-dimensional (3D) morphometric analysis of intervertebral structure using 3D computed tomography (3D CT) provides increased precision for measuring morphological changes. The purpose of this study was to evaluate 3D changes of lumbar IVD height and foramen diameter in degenerative lumbar disease patients following LLIF.

Subject-based 3D CT lumbar models were created for 26 patients before and following LLIF. TP-1454 chemical structure IVD height (whole and five anatomical zones) and foramen diameter (minimum and maximum) were measured based on the model using custom software. The sagittal placement of cages (SPC) and cross-sectional area of the thecal sac (CSA) were measured. Changes in these parameters by LLIF were quantified and statistically analysed.

Following LLIF, disc height increased by an average of 2.9mm (P < 0.01). Post-operative measurements of both minimum and maximum diameters of the foramen were significantly increased by 1.0mm and 1.9mm, respectively (P < 0.01). Change in maximum foramen diameter was significantly correlated with change in disc height (P < 0.05). The SPC was significantly correlated with the changes in disc height and foraminal diameters (P < 0.05, respectively). No significant change between the change in disc height and CSA was found.

This preliminary study quantifies disc height and foramen diameter changes in 3D following LLIF. The presented data provide baseline intervertebral changes for future comparisons with follow-up studies and clinical outcomes.

Systemic oxalosis is a severe complication seen in primary hyperoxaluria type I patients with kidney failure. Deposition of insoluble calcium oxalate crystals in multiple organs leads to significant morbidity and mortality.

We describe a retrospective cohort of 11 patients with systemic oxalosis treated at our dialysis unit from 1982 to 1998 (group 1) and 2007-2019 (group 2). Clinical and demographic data were collected from medical records. Imaging studies were only available for patients in group 2 (n = 5).

Median age at dialysis initiation was 6.1 months (IQR 4-21.6), 64% were male. Dialysis modality was mostly peritoneal dialysis in group 1 and daily hemodialysis in group 2. Bone disease was the first manifestation of systemic oxalosis, starting with the appearance of sclerotic bands (mean 166 days, range 1-235), followed by pathological fractures in long bones (mean 200.4 days, range 173-235 days). Advanced disease was characterized by vertebral fractures with resulting kyphosis, worsening splenomegaly, and adynamic bone disease. Two patients developed pulmonary hypertension, 4 and 8 months prior to their death. Four of 11 patients developed hypothyroidism 0-60 months after dialysis initiation. Only one patient survived after a successful liver-kidney transplantation. Four patients died after liver or liver-kidney transplantation.

This is the first comprehensive description of the natural history of pediatric systemic oxalosis. We hope that our findings will provide basis for a quantitative severity score in future, larger studies.
