Online resources are becoming increasingly important in undergraduate education and have been associated with a number of advantages and positive outcomes on students' learning experience. However, online resource use by veterinary students for physiology learning remains poorly understood. Thus the present questionnaire-based study aims to investigate the extent to which first- and second-year veterinary students use online resources, including online video clips and social media, in their physiology learning and if this is influenced by factors of age, gender, entry status, or year of study. One-hundred and twenty-two students across seven UK universities completed the survey. Traditional resources (the lecturer and recommended textbooks) were the most preferred sources for physiology learning. Nonetheless, 97.5% of students used Internet search engines to explore physiology topics. Furthermore, students' tendency to contact their instructor regarding a physiology question was low. Rather, 92.6% said they would first search for an answer online. Until now, the pathogenesis of LUAD has not been fully elucidated. In the current study, we comprehensively analyzed the dysregulated genes in lung adenocarcinoma by mining public datasets. Two sets of gene expression datasets were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. The dysregulated genes were identified by using the GEO2R online tool, and analyzed by R packages, Cytoscape software, STRING, and GPEIA online tools. A total of 275 common dysregulated genes were identified in two independent datasets, including 54 common up-regulated and 221 common down-regulated genes in LUAD. Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis showed that these dysregulated genes were significantly enriched in 258 biological processes (BPs), 27 cellular components (CCs), and 21 molecular functions (MFs). Furthermore, protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis showed that PECAM1, ENG, KLF4, CDH5, and VWF were key genes. Survival analysis indicated that the low expression of ENG was associated with poor overall survival (OS) of LUAD patients. The low expression of PECAM1 was associated with poor OS and recurrence-free survival of LUAD patients. The cox regression model developed based on age, tumor stage, ENG, PECAM1 could effectively predict 5-year survival of LUAD patients. This study revealed some key genes, BPs, CCs, and MFs involved in LUAD, which would provide new insights into understanding the pathogenesis of LUAD. In addition, ENG and PECAM1 might serve as promising prognostic markers in LUAD.
In 2011, septorhinoplasty and rhinoplasty were reclassified as procedures of limited clinical value in the NHS. The criteria for funding these operations varies across England. We used hospital episode statistics and freedom of information requests to review the total number of rhinology procedures performed across the previous decade, looking at trends in practice related to time, demographics and commissioning policy.

Hospital episode statistics for 2012-2019 were used to calculate the number of septoplasty, septorhinoplasty, rhinoplasty and reduction rhinoplasty procedures performed in children and adults. Freedom of information requests were also made to all clinical commissioning groups in England asking for number of procedures performed and number of individual funding requests made.

A total of 158,031 procedures were performed over this period; the majority were in adult (99.0%) men (65.7%). Septoplasty was the most frequently performed operation; however, the total numbers declined by 5.4% overmmissioning rather than reduced clinical need.Purpose Paracrine factors released by pluripotent stem cells have shown great potential as therapeutic agents in regenerative medicine. The purpose of this study was to characterize trophic factor secretion of retinal progenitor cells (RPCs) derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and to assess its impact on retinal survival ex vivo. Methods RPCs were generated from human 3D1 iPSCs following previously established protocols with modifications. Conditioned medium (CM) was harvested from iPSC-derived retinal progenitors and analyzed for trophic factor composition through multiplex enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Retina-preserving capability of the collected CM was examined using a degenerative porcine neuroretina model. Viability of the CM-treated retina explants was evaluated using the resazurin-based PrestoBlue reagent, whereas the lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assay was used to assess retinal cytotoxicity. Retina explants were also analyzed morphologically through immunohistochemistry for glial cell activation and apoptosis.
