Assessment of the left ventricular function in the dialysis children and explore its association with vitamin D level and markers reflecting calcium and phosphate metabolism.

In this case-control study, we enrolled forty children on regular hemodialysis and forty healthy controls from July 2019 to March 2020 at the pediatric dialysis unit. Echocardiographic evaluation using both conventional and Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI) was done for all subjects. Vitamin D and its markers were analyzed to assess its association with ventricular dysfunction.

Diastolic function in children on hemodialysis was significantly impaired as evidenced by lower Mitral E/A velocity ratio (E/A), lower early diastolic velocity (E'), and higher E/E' ratio (Ratio of early diastolic mitral inflow velocity (measured by pulsed wave traditional Doppler) to early diastolic mitral annular velocity (measured by Tissue Doppler). in comparison with the controls. learn more Most end stage renal disease (ESRD) participants had vitamin D deficiency. There was an important correlation between left ventricular (LV) dysfunction and both Vitamin D deficiency and hyperparathyroidism. Although our patients had normal systolic function by conventional and Tissue Doppler echocardiographic study, mean values of TDI- MPI (Mean Performance Index) in the haemodialysis group were significantly higher than in the control group, which indicates impaired global cardiac systolic and diastolic function.

Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI) provides a good reflection of the LV diastolic function. As vitamin D deficiency has been substantially associated with worsening of LV dysfunction, we suggest that TDI and Vitamin D might be included in the routine follow-up of pediatric dialysis patients.

Mothers' lack of information about crying spells in infantile colic and feeling of insufficiency create anxiety in mothers, a decrease in satisfaction with being a mother and make them feel insufficient and tired. Fatigue in breastfeeding mothers can also lead to changes in milk biology and cause insufficient milk secretion.

This study aims to determine the perceived breast milk insufficiency of mothers of infants with infantile colic and mothers of healthy infants. Mothers of infants aged three weeks to six months who were diagnosed with infantile colic (n=162) and were healthy (n=162), were admitted to the Pediatric Polyclinic of a hospital, comprised the target population of the case-controlled study. The Infant Colic Scale (ICS) and Perception of Insufficient Milk Supply (PIM) were used as data collection tools.

The PIM score averages of the case and control group mothers were compared and the case group mothers had a significantly higher perception of insufficient milk (p<0.05). However, as a result of a correlation analysis between the ICS total and the subscale score average of the case group infants and the PIM Scale total score average of the mothers, no significant correlation was found (p>0.05).

As a result of the study, there was a significant difference between the milk insufficiency perceptions of the case and control group mothers. However, no significant correlation was found between the infantile colic score of the case group infants and insufficient milk perception of the mothers.

Antibiotics are one of the most frequently prescribed medication classes worldwide. Inappropriate prescription of antibiotics has increased the risk of drug-resistant infections and associated mortality. The aim of this study was to examine the patterns of intravenous antibiotics prescribing in emergency and outpatient departments of a tertiary children's hospital in China.

Data on intravenous prescriptions dispensed by the emergency and outpatient department from January 1, 2015 to May 31, 2016 were extracted from the information system of the Children's Hospital of Fudan University. Prevalence of intravenous antibiotics use and the suitability of intravenous antibiotic prescription were evaluated on the basis of a completed microbiological examination, antibiotics susceptibility testing, and dose prescribed for patients diagnosed with pneumonia, acute bronchitis, fever, and acute upper respiratory infection (AURI) patients. The prescription rate was expressed as the number of intravenous antibiotic pres occurred in pneumonia, acute bronchitis, fever, and AURI. Appropriate interventions and prevention strategies need to be developed to curtail inappropriate prescribing of antibiotics.
The frequency of intravenous antibiotic prescription was high in pediatric emergency and outpatient departments. Inappropriate use of intravenous antibiotics commonly occurred in pneumonia, acute bronchitis, fever, and AURI. It represents the essence of Wang's theory in terms of Epidemic Febrile Diseases. It has been interpreted and analyzed by seven critics. However, these seven critics have not been widely known up to now. This paper introduces the life history of the critics and their medical achievements, in order to clarify their contributions to this book and enrich the content of medical history. The concept of "Xing & Shen"(Body and spirit) and their relationship are important philosophical categories and basic issues in life cognition. The view of "body and spirit" in Chinese medicine is the inheritance and development of the concept of "form and spirit" in ancient Chinese philosophy; the view of body-spirit syncretism is one of the elements of the original thinking mode in traditional Chinese medicine, which reflects the holism of TCM. This article selects interpretations of "body and spirit" form the works of the four great physicians of the Jin and Yuan period as the starting point to find out the internal connection between their academic innovation and their identities of Confucian physician, as well as their classic study, based on the social background of the Jin and Yuan Period.
