Treatment strategies for castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) mainly include taxane-based chemotherapy, novel endocrine therapy, and immunotherapy with radium 233. At present, there have been no clinical biomarkers for the prediction of the therapeutic effects and guidance with the medication in the treatment of CRPC. see more A large number of studies have shown that the androgen receptor splice variant-7 (AR-V7) is associated with the resistance to abiraterone and enzalutamide but not to Taxanes. So AR-V7 is expected to become a clinically useful tumor marker for predicting the clinical efficacy and guiding medication selection. However, the methods for the detection of AR-V7 present a challenge before its clinical application. This review introduces different methods of AR-V7 detection in the existing studies and looks forward to the clinical application of AR-V7 in order to move AR-V7 from the bench to the bedside. Objective To evaluate the effect and safety of Qianlieshutong Capsules (QC) in the treatment of BPH. METHODS We searched 10 Chinese and English databases up to July 2019 for randomized controlled trials (RCT) on treatment of BPH with QC followed by a meta-analysis on the included articles using Cochrane Handbook 5.1.0 and Revman5.3 software. RESULTS A total of 18 RCTs involving 1 802 cases of BPH were included out of the 175 articles identified. The baseline data from the RCTs were all comparable. Compared with the controls, the patients treated with QC showed a significantly higher rate of clinical effectiveness and better improvement in IPSS as well as in the maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), postvoid residual urine (PVR) and prostate volume after 3 months of medication. No serious adverse drug events or reactions were reported. CONCLUSIONS The existing data and methodology indicate the efficacy and safety of Qianlieshutong Capsules in the treatment of BPH, which, however, has to be further verified by more well-designed large-sample multi-center high-quality randomized controlled trials. Objective To explore the regulatory effect of Huatan Qushi Decoction (HTQSD) on lipid metabolism and semen quality in obese rats with oligoasthenozoospermia (OA) and its underlying mechanisms. METHODS Ninety-six 8-week-old male Wistar rats were randomly divided into six groups of equal number blank control, OA model control, Wuzi Yanzong Pills (WZYZP), and high-, medium- and low-dose HTQSD, the blank controls fed with a normal diet and the others with a high-fat diet, all for 8 weeks. Meanwhile, the rats in the blank control and OA model control groups were treated intragastrically with normal saline, those in the WZYZP group with WZYZP at 1.07 g/kg, and those in the high-, medium- and low-dose HTQSD groups with HTQSD at 26.25, 13.125 and 6.5625 g/kg, respectively. The body weights of the animals were obtained at 1, 4 and 8 weeks of modeling and intervention, the levels of serum TG, TC, HDL-C and LDL-C, the liver and testis indexes and semen quality detected at 4 and 8 weeks, and the expression of HO-1 mRNA d2.05 ± 0.27] vs [8.58 ± 0.39] nmol/L,P less then 0.01), TC ([1.63 ± 0.21] vs [4.41 ± 1.44] nmol/L,P less then 0.01) and LDL-C (0.45 ± 0.07) vs [2.06 ± 0.17] nmol/L, P less then 0.01), but increases in the level of serum HDL-C ([48.35 ± 3.63] vs [27.92 ± 0.40] nmol/L, P less then 0.01), sperm motility ([32.84 ± 6.22]% vs [11.31 ± 4.877]%, P less then 0.01) and sperm concentration ([46.90 ± 6.39] vs [31.07 ± 10.52] ×10⁶/ml, P less then 0.05), and the low-dose HTQSD group showed a significantly up-regulated expression of HO-1 mRNA (0.76 ± 0.13 vs 0.16±0.03, P less then 0.01). CONCLUSIONS HTQSD can regulate the blood lipid level and improve semen quality in obese rats with oligoasthenozoospermia by promoting serum anti-oxidation and reducing oxidative stress. Objective To explore normalized and reasonable strategies of assisted reproductive technology (ART) for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) under ethical supervision based on the experience with a case of ART for an ESRD male. METHODS A male patient with ESRD successfully fathered a child through in vitro intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) in our center. We performed an epidemiological analysis, reviewed the relevant literature and explored the feasibility, ethical issues and strategies of ART for male patients with ESRD. RESULTS ESRD affected the reproductive hormone levels, sperm quality and erectile function of the patient. Considering the contradictions between the reproductive right and the uncertainty of disease prognosis of the patient and the health of the offspring and his wife, we comprehensively evaluated the physical and mental conditions of the patient, obtained the informed consent, submitted the case to the Ethics Committee of Reproductive Medicine. CONCLUSIONS With respect to ART for ESRD patients, importance should be attached to their rights of reproduction and choice of reproductive technology. In the process of ART, the physical conditions of the patient ought to be evaluated comprehensively and rigorously, and the related ethical principles followed strictly. Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of incomplete testicular torsion (ITT) in children in order to gain a deeper insight into the disease. METHODS This retrospective study included 37 children with ITT treated in our hospital from April 2007 to April 2017. We analyzed the clinical characteristics and results of physical examination, laboratory examination, ultrasonography and treatment. RESULTS The patients were aged 1-14 (mean 5.7) years, with a high incidence of ITT at 2-4 and 12-14 years and a disease course of 12-96 (48 ± 8) hours. Preoperative color Doppler ultrasonography showed reduced blood flow signals in the affected testis in 31 cases (83.8%) and transverse testis with normal blood flow signals in the other 6 (16.2%). Anticlockwise torsion was found in 27 cases (72.9%), clockwise torsion in 10 (27.1%), 90-degree torsion in 7 (18.9%), 180-degree torsion in 20 (54.0%), 270-degree torsion in 10 (27.1%), intravaginal torsion in 31 (83.8%) and extravaginal torsion in 6 (16.2%). According to Arda's three grades of testicular tissue bleeding, 16 cases (43.
