Most online market exchanges are governed by reputation systems, which allow traders to comment on one another's behavior and attributes with ratings and text messages. These ratings then constitute sellers' reputations that serve as signals of their trustworthiness and competence. The large body of research investigating the effect of reputation on selling performance has produced mixed results, and there is a lack of consensus on whether the reputation effect exists and what it means. After showing how the reputation effect can be derived from a game-theoretic model, we use meta-analysis to synthesize evidence from 107 studies investigating the reputation effect in peer-to-peer online markets. Our results corroborate the existence of the reputation effect across different operationalizations of seller reputation and selling performance. Our results also show the extent to which the reputation effect varies. We discuss potential explanations for the variation in reputation effects that cannot be attributed to sampling error and thereby point out promising avenues for future research.The socioeconomic environment in childhood is a powerful determinant for health behavior in adulthood, subsequently influencing health outcomes. However, the underlying mechanisms are insufficiently understood. This study assesses locus of control (LOC) as a mediator linking childhood socioeconomic status (SES) with health behavior (smoking, regular alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet and low physical activity). Drawing on a representative sample from Germany (SOEP), we investigated these relations using structural equations modelling. Results show that externally oriented LOC explains up to 6% of the relationship between childhood SES and health behavior in adulthood, independently from adult SES. Stratification indicates that these results hold in women but not in men, in younger and middle-aged individuals but not in older ones. Hence, control beliefs play a modest yet significant role in shaping the socioeconomic gradient in health behavior and might have far-reaching consequences on how morbidity and mortality arise and persist across generations.School closures can have negative impacts on the students attending them and the residential communities surrounding them, suggesting overlapping negative impacts on local children. Yet, it remains unclear that these two populations are one in the same. The current study uses administrative enrollment data from 18 public-school closures in Baltimore City (2010-15) to quantify student-resident displacement rates across neighborhoods. I find that closures displaced a small proportion of student-residents from many different neighborhoods, rather than displacing a large proportion of any one residential community. Displaced students' residential neighborhoods are spatially dispersed and socio-demographically diverse. Employing school fixed-effects modeling to compare displaced students with their classmates, I show how recognizing these variations in geospatial dispersion can help to predict post-closure enrollments among displaced students. Findings suggest that many students and neighborhoods experience school closure as decoupled rather than doubled, with implications for how policies can better mitigate impacts of school closure.The election of Donald Trump raised many questions about the impact of immigration on American politics. This article asks whether backlash to demographic change in counties undergoing rapid growth in foreign-born, Hispanic, and/or Asian populations may have played a role in his election. I use techniques accounting for selection into treatment to examine the relationship between demographic changes at the county level and voting patterns in the 2016 presidential election. Analyzing individual-level survey data and controlling for voting patterns in 2012, I find that people living in counties with a rapid percentage point increase in the Hispanic population since 2000 were more likely to vote for Trump in the general and primary elections. For non-Hispanic Whites in the general election, Hispanic growth is predictive of Trump voting among those with lower levels of education and higher family incomes, as well as those living in counties with smaller Hispanic populations in 2000 ("new destinations"). There is also evidence of backlash to Hispanic growth among Asian voters. When analyzing county-level election results, I again find an uptick in Trump voting in high Hispanic growth counties for the general election, but these results do not replicate for the swing states, or for the primaries. This provides reason to be cautious about claims that backlash against local demographic trends "won" Trump the election, though data limitations prevent me from analyzing all key locations individually. Regardless, this study provides clear evidence of an impact of local demographic change on contemporary U.S. politics.
The individual anatomic variation of the course of the lacrimal duct and surrounding structures requires the thorough knowledge of its three-dimensional configuration in order to perform the surgery in the safest and most efficient way. The aim of this study was to consider virtual surgical planning in order to improve dacryocystorhinostomies.

Horos® was used as a viewer and manager of DICOM-format images for multiplanar, three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction when planning 148 first-time lacrimal operations and 26 reoperations by laser endonasal and endocanalicular DCRs.

The 3D images of the CT dacryocystography were much better identified than the 2D ones, Horos® showing a statistically significant correlation (P<.0001). Over 98.27% of the images match the programme reconstruction. Less than 1.73% of them showed some discordance due to study distortion.
