This will be delivered through advocacy, awareness, and empowerment initiatives to bring about people-focused changes in policy, clinical practice, and public education. In the spirit of the African philosophy of Ubuntu "I am because we are," the ASO will harness the power of diversity, inclusiveness, togetherness, and team work to build a strong, enduring, and impactful platform for tackling stroke in Africa.Purpose To examine the association between the extent of stent-graft coverage and thoracic aortic expansion after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) for type B aortic dissection. Materials and Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted of 201 patients (mean age 52.4±11.5 years; 178 men) with acute (135, 67.2%) or chronic (66, 32.8%) type B aortic dissection who underwent TEVAR at 4 medical centers. The mean stent-graft length was 157.1±33.3 mm. The percentage of stented descending aorta (PSDA) represented the extent of stent-graft coverage. After using restricted cubic smoothing spline plots to confirm the roughly linear relationship between PSDA and the risk of thoracic aortic expansion, patients were stratified into 2 groups on the median PSDA the lower group (≤31.3%) and the higher group (>31.3%). Thoracic aortic expansion was defined as a ≥20% increase in the total thoracic aortic volume on the most recent postoperative computed tomography angiography scan compared with the preoperative measutinuous variable (HR 0.97, 95% CI 0.91 to 1.03, p=0.288); however, analyzing the PSDA as a categorical variable indicated a significantly lower risk of thoracic aortic expansion for the PSDA >31.3% group (HR 0.46, 95% CI 0.22 to 0.95, p=0.036) after adjusting for a variety of demographic and anatomical characteristics. Conclusion More extensive stent-graft coverage appears to improve thoracic aortic remodeling after TEVAR. However, the clinician should balance the benefit of extensive stent-graft coverage and its related risk of spinal cord ischemia.Catalytic steam gasification of waste rigid polyurethane foam, in the fixed-bed reactor, was performed to produce hydrogen-rich gas. The influence of nine kinds of additives on the yield of products (gaseous, solid and liquid product) and the volume fraction of hydrogen was investigated. Among the additives, calcium carbonate, as the catalyst, could effectively enhance the gas yield and the volume fraction of hydrogen. A three-factor three-level completely randomised factorial (3 × 3 × 3) design, with calcium carbonate as the catalyst, was applied to investigate the influence of experimental conditions (temperature, steam flowrate and catalyst dosage) on the volume fraction of gaseous product components. The data were processed with SPSS statistical software. The result showed that the main effects of one variable, the interactive effects between two factors and the interactive effects among three factors all have statistical high significance. The best catalysed process is realised when calcium carbonate is the catalyst, gasification temperature is 1100°C, steam flowrate is 0.7 kg h-1, catalyst dosage is 10 wt% of waste rigid polyurethane foam. Under this condition, the volume fraction of hydrogen reaches up to 79.85%.End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is a life-limiting condition for which hospice and palliative care are not routinely provided to patients and families. While the ESRD mortality rate is close to 25%, patients on dialysis are half as likely to receive hospice services than patients with other life-limiting diagnoses. Nephrologists and dialysis social workers receive little training to effectively lead patients with ESRD and their families through the stages of dying and the completion of advance care planning. The lack of professional training, a need for greater commitment to advanced care planning from dialysis corporations, and reimbursement problems for hospice care, all contribute to low rates of hospice use within the ESRD population. An ESRD advance care training program for social workers is described that was developed as a part of a larger research project designed to increase advance care planning and referrals for hospice for those with ESRD. The goals were to help social workers become better advocates for patients and families, appreciate cultural, spiritual, racial and ethnic differences, and understand the ethical and legal issues in advance care planning. The challenges that emerged included high staff turnover and a paucity of corporate commitment to training. As mobile health apps become increasingly influential in daily life, they present an important opportunity for health communication for disease prevention. User impressions of app designs are influential for adoption. Using cues to increase feelings of being with others (social presence) is one way to encourage favorable impressions and health app adoption. mTOR inhibitor To examine the impact of social context cues (conversation cues vs. community cues vs. no cue control) on two forms of social presence (emergent and transcendent social presence), we conducted an online experiment (n = 587) with US adults. We also examined the indirect effects of conversation and community cues through social presence on app trust, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and intentions to use the app. We found that conversational cues elicited intended feelings for new, emergent interactions and that community cues increased perceptions of ongoing or established social formations for transcendent interactions. These cues also had positive indirect effects for increased trust, perceived usefulness, and intentions to use the health apps and should be considered when developing mHealth to improve uptake and delivery of health promotion online. This study sought to detect a potential safety signal of mirtazapine abuse by combining two different sources of surveillance, specifically Google Analytics (Google, Inc., Mountain View, CA, USA) and the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System database. Data from the first quarter of 2004 to the second quarter of 2017 were collected and analysed. The search interest over time, the frequencies of abuse-related terms in the search analytics domain, and the odds ratio of abuse events in FDA Adverse Event Reporting System were determined. Correlations between the two aforementioned domains using quarterly data from the timeline series were also assessed. Our results suggest a positive correlation between abuse-related searches in the Google domain and abuse-related events in FDA Adverse Event Reporting System database. These results indicate that these methods can be used in combination with each other as a pharmacovigilance supplementary tool to detect drug safety signals.
