Advancement of Diastolic Malfunction inside Individuals together with Heart Sluggish Stream Phenomenon and also Acute Non-ST Part Level Myocardial Infarction.
No significant differences were observed when considering maximum and minimum principal stresses (σ max, σ min), and maximum principal strain (ε max) to the mandibular bone. The Ti-15Mo alloy plates substantially decreased the stress concentration in the screws for both internal fixation techniques and in the plate for the Ti-15Mo 1 plate group. Conclusion From a clinical standpoint, the use of Ti-Mo alloy with reduced stiffness will decrease the stress shielding between the hardware and bone, influencing the outcome of the treatment. © The Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India 2019.Introduction The diagnosis of zygomatic complex fractures is important in planning the treatment since the complex gives form to the projection, width and height of the midface. Aim This study was carried out to assess the diagnostic sensitivity and utility of high-resolution ultrasonography in comparison with conventional radiography in the diagnosis of the zygomatic complex fractures. Materials and Method Twenty-five cases of clinically diagnosed zygomatic complex fractures were subjected to conventional radiographs and USG study. Results The accuracy in terms of specificity and sensitivity of USG was comparable to conventional radiographs in the detection of the fractures of the zygomatic complex. Conclusion This study points to the suitability of USG as an alternative to the use of plain radiographs in the diagnosis of zygomatic complex fractures. USG is safe, inexpensive and an accurate adjunct to conventional radiography in diagnosis of zygomatic complex fractures. © The Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India 2019.Purpose Stability of dental implants is an important factor for evaluation of osseointegration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of combined use of low-level laser (LLL) and light-emitting diode (LED) therapy on the stability of dental implants during the healing phase. Materials and Methods This was a randomized clinical trial. Patients were assigned to two groups In group 1, patients received LLL and LED 20 min/day for 10 days after implant insertion. Patients in group 2 (controls) did not undergo LLL and LED. The implant stability quotient (ISQ) was measured at 0 (time 0), 10 (time 1), 21 (time 2), 42 (time 3) and 63 days (time 4) after implant placement. Independent t test was used to compare the ISQs between the two groups. Results Fifty-eight patients were studied in two groups (n = 28). SN-011 molecular weight The mean ISQ did not differ immediately after insertion (P > 0.05). The mean ISQ differed significantly between the two groups on days 10, 21, 42 and 63 (P  less then  0.05). Results demonstrated an increase in the amount of ISQ in group 1 (intervention) at times 1, 2, 3 and 4. In the control group, the amount of ISQ decreased on days 10 and 21 following implant insertion, but increased afterward on days 42 and 63. Conclusion The results of this study showed that simultaneous use of LLL and LED increased the stability of the implants after 9 weeks of follow-up. © The Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India 2019.Purpose Odontogenic infections have the potential to develop rapidly into deep-space infections and compromise the airway. This problem is aggravated by pregnancy because of the physiological changes. This study aimed to determine the causes of referral delay for pregnant patients presenting with fascial space infections. Methods Ten pregnant patients with severe odontogenic infections reported to the outpatient clinic at Khartoum Teaching Dental Hospital included in the study during the study period included in the study. Patients with any systemic disease excluded. Demographic data were taken followed by history and then extraoral and intraoral examinations. A predesigned case report form was completed for each patient including the cause of referral delay, the offending teeth, space involved, and trimester at the time of presentation. Results The age range was from 18 to 35 years, and the mean age was 26.5 years SD ± 6.3. The odontogenic infections were most common in the last trimester (60%), followed by the late second trimester (40%).The most common tooth involved was the mandibular wisdom tooth (50%), and the submandibular space was the most frequently involved fascial space (70%). All patients were admitted and treated with incision and drainage under local anesthesia; the offending tooth was extracted and intravenous antibiotic and fluids were administered. Patients were on daily dressing until they were discharged on oral antibiotics. Two patients with Ludwig's angina progressed to necrotizing fasciitis. Conclusion Misconceptions among women regarding dental treatment during pregnancy were the most common cause of the delay. The myths and misconceptions should be addressed by dentists and prenatal care providers about oral health during pregnancy, and obstetricians' awareness increased that oral health needs special attention during pregnancy. © The Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India 2019.Purpose To ascertain the complications arising from open reduction and internal fixation of mandibular fractures and to elucidate if different osteosynthesis plating systems vary in treatment outcome. Materials and Methods This is a retrospective study. Parameters such as patient data, injury details, osteosynthesis implant system information, stability of fracture fragments, occlusion and complications were evaluated at different time intervals and logistic regression applied to determine the association of these factors with complications. Results Five hundred and ninety-three patients with mandibular fractures were included in this study (male 87.9% and female 12.1%), age range of 13-72 years (median = 22 years). Most fractures were caused by motor vehicle accidents (85.8%), assault (6.2%) and falls (4.7%). Parasymphyseal fractures were the most common (50.1%), followed by angle (35.2%) and body of mandible (25%). Median time interval between injury and intervention was 7 days (IQR 4-10). Median duration of follow-up from date of surgery was 72 days (IQR 30-230). 76.9% (456) were completely free of complications. Most complications (46%) occurred in the intermediate post-surgical period (1-6 weeks). Median interval period between surgery and complication was 15 days (IQR 7-67.5). Nerve injury and surgical site infection were the most common complications at 6.7% and 5.7%, respectively. There was a significant difference between the plating system in terms of complication outcome (p = 0.017). Conclusion Whilst the miniplate dimensions may be similar across different manufacturers, the complication outcome may differ between systems. © The Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India 2019.
