2 pg/ml vs. 699.5 pg/ml, p less then 0.001). There was no difference in the mean pulsatility (PI) of the uterine artery. Serum HIF-1α levels were higher than 1.45 multiple of median for the gestational age as a cut-off value for predicting preeclampsia; the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV were 66.7%, 71.5%, 17.2%, and 96.2%, respectively. When a combination of abnormal serum HIF-1α levels and abnormal uterine artery Doppler PI (above the 95th percentile) were used as a predictive value to predict preeclampsia, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV were 74.2%, 67.2%, 16.6%, and 96.8%, respectively. This study showed that the serum HIF-1α levels with or without uterine artery Doppler at 11-13+6 weeks of gestation were effective in predicting preeclampsia. In a world focused on the development of cybersecurity, many densely populated areas and transportation hubs are still susceptible to terrorist attacks via improvised explosive devices (IEDs). These devices frequently employ a combination of peroxide based explosives as well as nitramines, nitrates, and nitroaromatics. Detection of these explosives can be challenging due to varying chemical composition and the extremely low vapor pressures exhibited by some explosive compounds. No electronic trace detection system currently exists that is capable of continuously monitoring both peroxide based explosives and certain nitrogen based explosives, or their precursors, in the vapor phase. Recently, we developed a thermodynamic sensor that can detect a multitude of explosives in the vapor phase at the parts-per-trillion (ppt) level. The sensors rely on the catalytic decomposition of the explosive and specific oxidation-reduction reactions between the energetic molecule and metal oxide catalyst; i.e. the heat effects associated with catalytic decomposition and redox reactions between the decomposition products and catalyst are measured. Improved sensor response and selectivity were achieved by fabricating free-standing, ultrathin film (1 µm thick) microheater sensors for this purpose. The fabrication method used here relies on the interdiffusion mechanics between a copper (Cu) adhesion layer and the palladium (Pd) microheater sensor. 10,11-(Methylenedioxy)-20(S)-camptothecin A detailed description of the fabrication process to produce a free-standing 1 µm thick sensor is presented.Deterministic models have been widely applied in landslide risk assessment (LRA), but they have limitations in obtaining various geotechnical and hydraulic properties. The objective of this study is to suggest a new deterministic method based on machine learning (ML) algorithms. Eight crucial variables of LRA are selected with reference to expert opinions, and the output value is set to the safety factor derived by Mohr-Coulomb failure theory in infinite slope. Linear regression and a neural network based on ML are applied to find the best model between independent and dependent variables. To increase the reliability of linear regression and the neural network, the results of back propagation, including gradient descent, Levenberg-Marquardt (LM), and Bayesian regularization (BR) methods, are compared. An 1800-item dataset is constructed through measured data and artificial data by using a geostatistical technique, which can provide the information of an unknown area based on measured data. The results of linear regression and the neural network show that the special LM and BR back propagation methods demonstrate a high determination of coefficient. The important variables are also investigated though random forest (RF) to overcome the number of various input variables. Only four variables-shear strength, soil thickness, elastic modulus, and fine content-demonstrate a high reliability for LRA. The results show that it is possible to perform LRA with ML, and four variables are enough when it is difficult to obtain various variables. We tested the hypothesis that circulating CXCL10 and IL-6 in donor after brain death provide independent additional predictors of graft outcome. From January 1, 2010 to June 30, 2012 all donors after brain death managed by the NITp (n = 1100) were prospectively included in this study. CXCL10 and IL-6 were measured on serum collected for the crossmatch at the beginning of the observation period. Graft outcome in recipients who received kidney (n = 1325, follow-up 4.9 years), liver (n = 815, follow-up 4.3 years) and heart (n = 272, follow-up 5 years) was evaluated. Both CXCL-10 and IL-6 showed increased concentration in donors after brain death. The intensive care unit stay, the hemodynamic instability, the cause of death, the presence of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and the presence of ongoing infection resulted as significant determinants of IL-6 and CXCL10 donor concentrations. Both cytokines resulted as independent predictors of Immediate Graft Function. Donor IL-6 or CXCL10 were associated with graft failure after liver transplant, and acted as predictors of recipient survival after kidney, liver and heart transplantation. Serum donor IL-6 and CXCL10 concentration can provide independent incremental prediction of graft outcome among recipients followed according to standard clinical practice. In the present paper we address the problem of the energy downconversion of the light absorbed by a protein into its internal vibrational modes. We consider the case in which the light receptors are fluorophores either naturally co-expressed with the protein or artificially covalently bound to some of its amino acids. In a recent work [Phys. Rev. X 8, 031061 (2018)], it has been experimentally found that by shining a laser light on the fluorophores attached to a protein the energy fed to it can be channeled into the normal mode of lowest frequency of vibration thus making the subunits of the protein coherently oscillate. Even if the phonon condensation phenomenon has been theoretically explained, the first step - the energy transfer from electronic excitation into phonon excitation - has been left open. The present work is aimed at filling this gap.Soil O2 dynamics have significant influences on greenhouse gas emissions during soil management practice. In this study, we deployed O2-specific planar optodes to visualize spatiotemporal distribution of O2 in soils treated with biological soil disinfestation (BSD). This study aimed to reveal the role of anoxia development on emissions of N2O and CH4 from soil amended with crop residues during BSD period. The incorporation of crop residues includes wheat straw only, wheat straw with biochar and early straw incorporation. The anoxia in soil developed very fast within 3 days, while the O2 in headspace decreased much slower and it became anaerobic after 5 days, which was significantly affected by straw and biochar additions. The N2O emissions were positively correlated with soil hypoxic fraction. The CH4 emissions were not significant until the anoxia dominated in both soil and headspace. The co-application of biochar with straw delayed the anoxia development and extended the hypoxic area in soil, resulting in lower emissions of N2O and CH4.
