Overweight and obese individuals show changes in mechanisms related to appetite due to several factors, including excess fat and gut microbiota imbalance. Probiotics have been presented as a strategy for modulating gut microbiota and regulating these mechanisms. The aim of this systematic review was to assess the effects of probiotics on appetite-related hormones in overweight or obese individuals.
A systematic review of randomized controlled trials was performed in nine electronic databases (Pubmed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Controlled Register of Trials, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, PsycINFO, WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, ClinicalTrials.gov and Open Grey) and in a manual search of studies until March 20, 2020. The risk of bias of each study was appraised using the RoB 2.0 tool. All research stages were carefully based on PRISMA recommendations.
Twenty-four studies (1587 participants) were included in this systematic review. The outcomes related to appetite assessed in the included studies were leptin, insulin, adiponectin, resistin, nesfatin-1, adropin, omentin-1, GLP-1, GLP-2 and glucagon. Compared to the control group after supplementation, four studies involving 272 participants reported statistically significant reduction in fasting insulin. On the other hand, one study involving 56 participants reported statistically significant increase in adropin and omentin-1.
Probiotics have minimal effects on appetite-related hormones in overweight or obese individuals. However, knowledge in this area is progressing and further studies with a low risk of bias may help to clarify the role of probiotics in appetite control.

Although disorders of iron metabolism are among the most common diseases and dietary intakes of vitamin A, B
, B
, C, E, and folic acid are known to affect the absorption or oxidation of iron, limited data are available on the association of dietary iron and these vitamins with mortality in the same population. Specifically, the holistic dietary vitamins intake and its combined effect with iron on mortality are unclear. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association of dietary iron, holistic dietary vitamins, and their interactive effect with total and cause-specific mortality.
We evaluated the effects of dietary total/heme/non-heme iron, vitamins, and their interaction on all-cause/cardiovascular disease (CVD)/cancer mortality among 14,826 US adults in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), a population-based nationally representative study. We developed a vitamin score to represent the holistic dietary intakes of vitamin A, B
, B
, C, E, and folic acid.
A total onecessary to confirm these findings.
Our findings suggested that interactive effect of holistic dietary vitamins and iron play a protective role in decreasing all-cause and CVD mortality. Future studies, including cohort studies and clinical trials, are necessary to confirm these findings.Cervix cancer in many countries is declining and screening programmes and immunisation will reduce the incidence in the next few decades. This guideline attempts to cover management of invasive disease reflecting diagnosis and imaging including new imaging and sentinel lymph node biopsies. Smaller volume disease is usually managed surgically whereas advanced disease is treated with (chemo)- radiation. It also includes discussion of fertility sparing procedures. Practices are changing frequently for all aspects of care usually in attempts to reduce complications and improve quality of life. The management of advanced disease is treated by chemotherapy and the use of newer agents is also discussed. Other sections discuss specialist situations such as cancer in pregnancy, rare cervical tumours, late effects and supportive measures and fertility preserving approaches. With the explosive growth of synthetic compounds, the health effects caused by exogenous chemical exposure have attracted more and more public attention. The prediction of health effect is a never-ending story. Collective resource of transcriptomics data offers an opportunity to understand and identify the multiple health effects of small molecule. Inspired by the fact that environmental chemicals of high health risk frequently share both similar gene expression profile and common structural feature of certain drugs, we here propose a novel computational effect prioritization method for environmental chemicals through transcriptomics data exploration from a chemo-centric view. Specifically, non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) method has been adopted to get the association network linking structural features with transcriptomics characteristics of drugs with specific effects. The model yields 13 pivotal types of effects, so-called components, that represent drug categories with common chemo- and geno- type features. Moreover, the established model effectively prioritizes potential toxic effects for the external chemicals from the endocrine disruptor screening program (EDSP) for their potential estrogenicity and other verified risks. Even if only the highest priority is set for the estrogenic effect, the precision and recall can reach 0.76 and 0.77 respectively for these chemicals. Our effort provides a successful endeavor as to profile potential toxic effects simultaneously for environmental chemicals using both chemical and omics data.Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome - Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) emerged in Wuhan, China and spread to more than 114 countries resulting in a pandemic, which was declared by the WHO in March 2020. Tracking the spread of the virus raised a main concern in every country. Many researches proved the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in stool samples of patients, where the genes of this virus gave a positive signal several days prior to the occurrence of symptoms. The fact of viral shedding in stools provides an advantage in utilizing wastewater systems as a tool to monitor the viral prevalence. We tested more than 2900 municipal wastewater samples coming from 49 distinctive area in Dubai, where 28.6% showed positive results. We also looked into the wastewater samples from 198 commercial aircrafts arriving at Dubai Airport, giving a positive result percentage of 13.6%. The presence of SARS-CoV-2 genes was confirmed using TaqPath™ Covid-19 RT-PCR kit, which targets ORF1ab, N gene and S gene. Selleckchem Tubastatin A This project shows the significance of utilizing wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) in monitoring the prevalence of various infectious diseases such as SARS-CoV-2, which can assist the decision makers to determine the level of precautionary measures according to the areas of the outbreak.
