Among the core members of the injury-repressed gene module, we identified Plasmalemma vesicle-associated protein (PLVAP) as a protein amply expressed by mouse and human HSCs. PLVAP expression was suppressed in activated HSCs upon injury and may hence define hitherto unknown roles for HSCs in the regulation of microcirculatory exchange and its breakdown in chronic liver disease CONCLUSIONS Our study offers a single-cell resolved account of drug-induced injury of the mammalian liver and identifies key genes that may serve important roles in sinusoidal integrity and as markers of advance fibrosis in human NASH. Here, a root-specific nuclear factor Y (NF-Y) transcription factor PdNF-YB21 was isolated from Populus. The functional mechanism of PdNF-YB21 was characterized by various morphological, physiological, molecular, biochemical, and spectroscopy techniques. Overexpression of PdNF-YB21 in poplar promoted root growth with highly lignified and enlarged xylem vessels, resulting in increased drought resistance. In contrast, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated poplar mutant nf-yb21 exhibited reduced root growth and drought resistance. PdNF-YB21 interacted with PdFUSCA3 (PdFUS3), a B3 domain transcription factor. PdFUS3 directly activated the promoter of the ABA synthesis key gene PdNCED3, resulting in a significant increase in root ABA content in poplars subjected to water deficit. Coexpression of poplar NF-YB21 and FUS3 significantly enhanced the expression of PdNCED3. Furthermore, ABA promoted IAA transport in root tips, which ultimately increased root growth and drought resistance. Taken together, our data indicate that NF-YB21-FUS3-NCED3 functions as an important avenue in auxin-regulated poplar root growth in response to drought. This article is protected by copyright. In turn, coherent integration of negative memories was expected to further facilitate adaptive emotion regulation strategies over time. METHOD A total of 303 participants took part in this longitudinal study. At Phase 1, they completed measures of emotion regulation and well-being. Three months later, they described the memory of the most negative event they experienced since Phase 1, and completed measures assessing its integration. One month later, participants completed the well-being measures again, and another month later, their emotion regulation was reassessed. RESULTS Adaptive emotion regulation predicted adaptive memory integration, which in turn led to increases in well-being and adaptive emotion regulation. Contrariwise, the incapacity to adaptively regulate emotions predicted poor memory integration, which in turn led to decreases in well-being. CONCLUSION The way people regulate their negative emotions acts as an individual difference influencing how negative memories are integrated into the self, which can in return alter well-being and emotion regulation capacity over time. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.1. While the functional response of predators is commonly measured, recent work has revealed that the age and sex composition of prey killed is often a better predictor of prey population dynamics because the reproductive value of adult females is usually higher than that of males or juveniles. 2. Climate is often an important mediating factor in determining the composition of predator kills, but we currently lack a mechanistic understanding of how the multiple facets of climate interact with prey abundance and demography to influence the composition of predator kills. 3. Over 20 winters, we monitored 17 wolf packs in Yellowstone National Park and recorded the sex, age, and nutritional condition of kills of their dominant prey - elk - in both early and late winter periods when elk are in relatively good and relatively poor condition, respectively. 3. Nutritional condition (as indicated by percent marrow fat) of wolf-killed elk varied markedly with summer plant productivity, snow water equivalent (SWE) and winmore or less additive from year to year. Assuming knowledge of habitat quality, the IFD predicts that average fitness will be approximately equal among individuals and between habitats, while density varies, implying that habitat selection will be density dependent. Populations are often assumed to follow an IFD, although this assumption is rarely tested with empirical data, and may be incorrect when territoriality indicates habitat selection tactics that deviate from the IFD (e.g. ideal despotic distribution or ideal preemptive distribution). When territoriality influences habitat selection, species' density will not directly reflect components of fitness such as reproductive success or survival. In such cases, assuming an IFD can lead to false conclusions about habitat quality. We tested theoretical models of density-dependent habitat selection on a species known to exhibit territorial behavior in ordets. Source-sink population dynamics appear likely when species exhibit rapid growth and occupy interspersed habitats of contrasting quality. These conditions are likely and have implications for large carnivores in many systems, such as areas in North America and Europe where large predator species are currently recolonizing their former ranges. Several recent epidemiological studies have reported a higher incidence. We, therefore, aimed to assess and characterize the incidence of MG in Israel. AK 7 concentration METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the records of all four laboratories that performed the acetylcholine receptor antibody (AChR Ab) test in Israel between 1994 and 2013 and documented the number of newly diagnosed seropositive MG patients each year. To assure that data indeed reflect only newly diagnosed patients, patient's names and ID numbers were screened at the Hadassah medical center database since 1978, the year when the test was first performed in Israel. In order to calculate the annual incidence of the disease, the population at risk was derived from the annual publication of the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics. RESULTS The annual incidence of MG for this time period was 13.1/106 inhabitants. The mean incidence of MG between 1994 and 2003 was 7.
