9% vs. 6.5%, p < 0.01). Hyperplastic/inflammatory polyps and adenomas were more frequently detected in the MC group than in the control group. In a meta-analysis of five studies, a significantly higher prevalence of hyperplastic/inflammatory polyps and adenomas was reported in the MC group than in the control group, while the incidence of adenocarcinoma was not significantly different between the two groups.
Although hyperplastic polyps and adenomas were more frequently detected in MC patients, MC was not associated with an elevated risk of colorectal cancer.

In most acute coronary artery (ACS) related literature, the female gender constitutes a smaller proportion. This study is based on gender-specific data in the Saudi Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry Program (STARS-1 Program). A prospective multicenter study, conducted with patients diagnosed with ACS in 50 participating hospitals.
In total, 762 (34.12%) patients were diagnosed with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction. Of this group, only 164 (21.52%) were women. The mean age (64.52 ± 12.56 years) was older and the mean body mass index (BMI) was higher (30.58 ± 6.23). A significantly proportion was diabetic or hypertensive; however, a smaller proportion was smoking. Hyperlipidemia was present in 48%. The history of angina/MI/stroke and revascularization was similar, except for renal impairment. The presentation was atypical as only 70% presented with chest pain, and the rest with shortness of breath or epigastric pain. At presentation, the female group were more tachycardiac, had higher blood pressure, and a higher incidence of being in class 11-111 Killip heart failure. Only 32% had a normal systolic function, and the majority had either mild or moderate systolic dysfunction. In particular, the rate of percutaneous coronary intervention was similar. The in-hospital mortality was similar (5%), with more women diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and heart failure at follow-up.
Women had a higher prevalence of risk factors affecting the presentation and morbidity but not mortality. Improving these risk factors and the lifestyle is a priority to improve the outcome and decrease morbidity.

From 27 April to 10 June 2020 nasopharyngeal swab and serum samples from employees were processed in order to evaluate their seroprevalence and infective situation. Employees were classified according to their exposure to SARS-CoV-2 infection as high, moderate, and low exposure groups (level 1, level 2, and level 3, respectively). A specific real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was run to diagnose each patient, whereas the qualitative detection of IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 was performed by means of an immunoassay. In total, 2781 HCW were screened. From this sample, 30 employees (1.1%) were infected with SARS-CoV-2 and 450 (16.2%) were positive to SARS-CoV-2-IgG antibodies. The seroprevalence was higher in the high exposure group. The seroprevalence of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 among employees without any COVID-19 training was higher than in those who received COVID-19 training (14.5% vs 18.6%, P = 0.035). MK-2206 manufacturer The seroprevalence in military and civilian personnel in level 1 was 18.2% and 20.0%, respectively (P = 0.4616), while in level 2 it was 6.0% and 16.0% (P = 0.0008) and in level 3 it was 16.7% and 10.2% (P = 0.0315). The results from the present study have shown that the high exposure group and HCW not receiving specific training against COVID-19 showed higher seroprevalence. Furthermore, the military employees from this hospital presented low percentage of seroprevalence.Isolation of culturable actinobacteria from coastal wetlands and screening of their potential biological activities are important for the development of new marine natural products. We collected and isolated 109 actinobacteria from the Sanggou Bay and the Swan Lake wetlands, in the coast of Weihai, China. Of the 109 isolates, 104 had antimicrobial activity against at least one indicator strain. The 35 strains with the strongest inhibitory effects were chosen for the screening of the biosynthesis gene clusters of polyketide synthase (PKS) and non-ribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS). Four strains with the PKS gene, six strains with the NRPS gene, and three strains with both genes were detected. Eight of the 13 strains with PKS or NRPS genes belong to the genera Streptomyces, and other strains belonged to genus Micromonospora, Nocardiopsis, Rhodococcus, Saccharomonospora, and Staphylococcus. Our results reveal that the culturable actinobacteria isolated from coastal wetlands showed broad-spectrum antimicrobial activities, and some strains with antimicrobial activities possessed PKS and NRPS genes. Thus, culturable actinobacteria from coastal wetlands may contain potential new bioactive substances. An increase in plasma L-methionine (Met) levels, even if transitory, can cause important toxicological alterations in the affected individuals. Met is essential in the regulation of epigenetic mechanisms and its influence on the subsequent generation has been investigated. However, few studies have explored the influence of a temporary increase in Met levels in parents on their offspring. This study evaluated the behavioral and neurochemical effects of parental exposure to high Met concentration (3 mM) in zebrafish offspring. Adult zebrafish were exposed to Met for 7 days, maintained for additional 7 days in tanks that contained only water, and then used for breeding. The offspring obtained from these fish (F1) were tested in this study. During the early stages of offspring development, morphology, heart rate, survival, locomotion, and anxiety-like behavior were assessed. When these animals reached the adult stage, locomotion, anxiety, aggression, social interaction, memory, oxidative stress, and levels of amino acids and neurotransmitters were analyzed.
