nayake et al. 2017). However, to our knowledge, this is the first report of D. hongkongensis causing peach fruit rot disease in China. The identification of the pathogen will provide important information for growers to manage this disease.Mei (Prunus mume Sieb. et Zucc.), widely distributed in East Asian countries for both fruiting- and flowering-purposes, is susceptible to viral infections (Marais et al. 2018). Infection by plum bark necrosis stem pitting-associated virus (PBNSPaV) or little cherry virus 2 (LChV-2) possibly caused overall yield loss in mei in Japan due to incomplete flower development, low fruit bearing rate, and interveinal chlorosis (Numaguchi et al. 2019). Virus-like disease showing mosaic, interveinal chlorosis, vein clearing, or necrotic spot on leaf was observed in mei trees in Beijing, Wuhan, Wuxi, and Nanjing in spring and early summer from 2017 to 2018. Symptomatic leaves collected from the four regions were pooled as two samples for RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis. After ribosomal RNA (rRNA)-depletion, total RNA extracted by TRNzol reagent (TIANGEN, China) was subjected to library construction using NEBNext Ultra RNA Library Prep Kit (NEB, MA, USA) and sequenced on an Illumina Hiseq 4000 (Novogene, China). Sequenc0 collected leaf samples from Nanjing and Wuhan were analyzed by RT-PCR and 15, 6, and 5 samples tested positive to PLPaV, PBNSPaV, and MuVA, respectively. Although it is difficult to link a particular virus with the observed symptoms due to mixed infections, the symptoms were significantly associated with viral infection because almost all symptomatic leaf samples were virus(es)-positive. Further studies would be required to determine the distribution and impact of these viruses on mei trees and other stone fruits species and to understand the possibility that mei trees may play a role in PLPaV epidemiology.A disease was observed on alfalfa cultivar WL168 characterized by white to brown leaf spots of regular to round shapes, in Aluhorqin County, Inner Mongolia, China (120°13'23″ to 120°29'14″ E, 43°27'52″to 43°35'16″ N, 281.71m to360.13 m Altitude) during 2019 to 2020. The disease mainly presented in spring one month after re-greening and the incidence was 78.30% in this field. Twenty alfalfa plants with severe symptoms were used for pathogen isolation. selleck products The infected tissue was cut into 2 × 2 mm pieces, surface-sterilized (in 75% ethanol and 5% commercial bleach (NaClO) for 30 s and 2 min, respectively), rinsed five times with sterilized distilled water, and dried between sterile filter paper (Wang et al. 2019). The diseased tissue from each plant sample were cultured on potato dextrose agar (PDA) and incubated at 25 °C with 12 h light/day for ten days. A fungus was isolated from the diseased leaves at a 100% frequency. Fungal growth on PDA was round with a black surface, radial edge, and a dirty white center. Thective management of this disease.Mitophagy is a selective form of macroautophagy in which dysfunctional and damaged mitochondria can be efficiently degraded, removed and recycled through autophagy. Selective removal of damaged or fragmented mitochondria is critical to the functional integrity of the entire mitochondrial network and cells. In past decades, numerous studies have shown that mitophagy is involved in various diseases; however, since the dual role of mitophagy in tumour development, mitophagy role in tumour is controversial, and further elucidation is needed. That is, although mitophagy has been demonstrated to contribute to carcinogenesis, cell migration, ferroptosis inhibition, cancer stemness maintenance, tumour immune escape, drug resistance, etc. during cancer progression, many research also shows that to promote cancer cell death, mitophagy can be induced physiologically or pharmacologically to maintain normal cellular metabolism and prevent cell stress responses and genome damage by diminishing mitochondrial damage, thus suppressing tumour development accompanying these changes. Signalling pathway-specific molecular mechanisms are currently of great biological significance in the identification of potential therapeutic targets. Here, we review recent progress of molecular pathways mediating mitophagy including both canonical pathways (Parkin/PINK1- and FUNDC1-mediated mitophagy) and noncanonical pathways (FKBP8-, Nrf2-, and DRP1-mediated mitophagy); and the regulation of these pathways, and abovementioned pro-cancer and pro-death roles of mitophagy. Finally, we summarise the role of mitophagy in cancer therapy. Mitophagy can potentially be acted as the target for cancer therapy by promotion or inhibition. This study examined the role of women's political leadership at the community level in China, a context that has experienced recent political and socioeconomic change and has a distinctive rural-urban divide. Drawing on longitudinal data from the China Family Panel Studies (N range = 40,918-52,406 person-year observations), we found that female community directors outnumbered male directors in urban China but were much less common in rural areas. Female community directors had higher levels of human capital regardless of rural or urban location. Residents living in female-directed communities reported better mental health but not physical health or life satisfaction compared to those living in male-directed communities, and this association was most robust among rural women. For rural women, the mental health benefit of living in female-directed communities was partially explained by reduced personal experience of gender discrimination, suggesting that female leadership fosters ideational change toward women that lowers discriminatory behaviors among constituents.
When medical schools began to recognize, a generation ago, that clinical "communication skills" could not be taken for granted among students, a process began of researching them, and introducing the results into curricula. This allowed for a discussion, for the first time, about how doctors should talk to patients, and manage interviews with them. However, there was a focus on a set of behavioral processes which were often unsophisticated with respect to the role of language in communication, or of language as a means of sustaining and describing ambiguity, or language as the primary impetus for educational reflection.
This paper looks at literature from language studies, the philosophy of language and the philosophy of education to establish the point that, where natural languages are concerned, it is possible and useful to talk of the purposes for which language is used. It is also important to recognize that the meaning of a particular language use is to a substantial extent defined by context and that languages are excellent vehicles for maintaining and describing ambiguity, where it is impossible to reduce a state of affairs to the well-defined conclusion of empirical research.
