Up-regulated SNHG15 was connected with inferior prognosis and aggressive behaviors of liver cancer patients. SNHG15 knockdown or miR-18b-5p restoration depressed SMMC-7721 cell growth in vivo and in vitro. SNHG15 bound to miR-18b-5p and miR-18b-5p targeted LMO4. The work has illuminated that silencing SNHG15 represses liver cancer progression by modulating miR-18b-5p and LMO4, indicating the therapeutic potency of SNHG15/miR-18b-5p/LMO4 axis in liver cancer.Xia-Gibbs syndrome (XGS) is a very rare genetic condition. The clinical spectrum is very broad and variable. The phenotype and evolution in a Congolese boy with XGS have been reported. At 6 years he had speech delay, drooling, marked hyperactivity, attention deficit, aggressive behavior, and intellectual disability. Dysmorphological evaluation revealed strabismus, mild unilateral ptosis, uplifted ear lobes, flat philtrum, thin upper lip vermillion, high arched palate, and flat feet. Patient-only whole exome sequencing identified a known pathogenic frameshift variant in the AHDC1 gene [NM_001029882.3(AHDC1)c.1122dupC;(p.Gly375ArgfsTer3)]. The clinical follow-up revealed the deterioration of his fine motor skills and significant cerebellar phenotype including tremor, pes cavus, and gait instability at the age of 12 years. This patient was compared with three previously reported patients with the same variant but did not identify a consistent pattern in the evolution of symptoms with age.Historically, the findings from cellular lifespan studies have greatly affected aging research. The discovery of replicative senescence by Hayflick developed into research on telomeres and telomerase, while stress-induced senescence became known as a telomere-independent event. Senescence-inducing signals comprise several tumor suppressors or cell cycle inhibitors, e.g., p53, cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p16 Ink4a and others. Stress-induced senescence serves as a physiological barrier to oncogenesis in vivo, while it activates senescence-associated secretary phenotype, inducing chronic inflammation. Thus, beside telomere length, p16, p53 and inflammatory cytokines have been utilized as biomarkers for cellular senescence. Telomere lengths in human leukocytes correlate well with events of aging-related lifestyle diseases, indicating the importance of cellular senescence in organismal aging. As such, the development of senescence research will have significant future clinical applications, e.g., senolysis. Geriatr Gerontol Int 2021; 21 125-130.Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is among the most common adult brain tumors with invariably fatal character. Following the limited conventional therapies, almost all patients, however, presented with symptoms at the time of recurrence. It is dire to develop novel therapeutic strategies to improve the current treatment of GBM. Gallic acid is a well-established antioxidant, presenting a promising new selective anti-cancer drug, while gold nanoparticles (GNPs) can be developed as versatile nontoxic carriers for anti-cancer drug delivery. Here, we prepared gallic acid-GNPs (GA-GNPs) by loading gallic acid onto GNPs, reduction products of tetrachloroauric acid by sodium citrate, through physical and agitation adsorption. GA-GNPs, rather than GNPs alone, significantly inhibited the survival of U251 GBM cells, as well as enhanced radiation-induced cell death. Moreover, GA-GNPs plus radiation arrested the cell cycle of U251 at the S and G2/M phases and triggered apoptotic cell death, which is supported by increased BAX protein levels and decreased expression of BCL-2. Thus, GA-GNPs have great potential in the combination with radiation therapy in future studies for GBM treatment.Cervical status has a great impact on the duration and success of its dilatation especially during hysteroscopy, so cervical ripening employed before the procedure can increase the success rate and minimize the complications.
To compare the efficacy of vaginal misoprostol and intracervical normal saline infiltration as cervical ripening agents.
A randomized comparative clinical trial had been conducted in AL Yarmouk Teaching Hospital involving two methods for cervical ripening before the hysteroscopic procedure. One Hundred women were enrolled in the study, fifty of them were those who used preoperative vaginal misoprostol and the other fifty patients were those who had been submitted to intracervical normal saline infiltration during surgery. Basal cervical dilatation, time to achieve 8 mm cervical dilatation, difficulties, and complications encountered during the procedure were evaluated and compared for both groups.
The participants had been admitted for hysteroscopy for the following indications Abnormal uterine bleeding, missed loop, infertility, polypectomy, endometrial resection, and myomectomy. Regarding operative findings, the basal cervical dilatation was not significantly different between them, the time required to achieve the required dilatation was significantly shorter for the normal saline infiltration group, 66.95 sec. ± 10.85 than for the misoprostol group which was 87.9 sec. ± 13.11. There was more difficulty in dilatation with more complications in the misoprostol group than in the normal saline infiltration group.
Normal saline infiltration is a simple, readily available at the time of surgery and with fewer complications and shorter time of dilatation in comparison to vaginal misoprostol for a comparable efficacy.

We measured the frequency of nuclear abnormalities of 210 blood samples from the umbilical cord, since human fetuses are exposed to environmental mixtures of pesticides that induce DNA damage.
The determinations were made through the micronucleus assay test in lymphocytes from the umbilical cord blood of newborns whose mothers live in Ahome (n = 105) and Guasave (n = 105), Sinaloa, Mexico.
The average frequency of anomalies in 1000 cells were, respectively micronucleus 0.4 vs. 2.9, pyknotic cells 18.3 vs. 109.2, chromatin condensation 7.7 vs. 150.1, karyolitic cells 1.8 vs. click here 24.4, and binucleated cells 4.9 vs. 74.6. The calculated Pearson correlation factors of nuclear abnormality frequencies between both municipalities were low and negative, suggesting that they did not correlate between the Ahome and Guasave newborns and indicating a higher number of mothers exposed in Guasave.
Our data suggest that monitoring nuclear abnormalities in umbilical cord blood samples could be a useful tool to identify transplacental mutagens perfusion that is being discharged into the local environment.
