Conclusions The SUP-ICU trial is a landmark trial describing the value of SUP in a modern-day setting of intensive care unit (ICU) practice. The provision of SUP should be continued in high-risk patients. Future studies are ongoing that will add further insight to this routine practice. © The Author(s) 2019.Background Albumin 25% has been studied and has demonstrated benefit in a limited number of patient populations. The use of albumin 25% is associated with higher costs compared with crystalloid therapy. The aim of this study was to describe the prescribing practices of albumin 25% at a tertiary-care medical center and identify opportunities for restriction criteria related to its use to help generate cost savings. Methods This evaluation was a retrospective, noninterventional, descriptive study of albumin 25% use between June 2015 and February 2016. Inclusion criteria consisted of patients ≥18 years old and who received at least one dose of albumin 25% while admitted to a Cleveland Clinic main campus intensive care unit (ICU). Inclusion was restricted to 150 randomly selected patients. Results A total of 539 albumin 25% orders were placed for the 150 included patients. The cardiovascular ICU more frequently prescribed albumin 25% compared with the medical, surgical, neurosciences, and coronary ICUs (51% vs 23ions supported by primary literature. These findings identified a major opportunity for prescriber education and implementation of restriction criteria to target cost savings. © The Author(s) 2019.Background Maintaining integrity of the pharmaceutical supply chain is critical to providing medications that are free from adulteration (counterfeit, substandard or unapproved medications), making them safe for patient use. Objective The objective of this study was to review the current threats to maintaining a secure pharmaceutical supply chain, specifically focused on Internet-based procurement of medications. Methods A review of the literature was conducted along with collating important up to date resources and other publications that provide foundational information to understanding the risks and prevention strategies for online purchasing of pharmaceuticals. Conclusion The information provided in this article helps to properly inform pharmacy leaders to the resources available to protect against the risks of on-line purchasing of pharmaceuticals. © The Author(s) 2019.We report the structure, chemical composition, O, Al-Mg, He, and Ne isotope systematics of an interplanetary dust particle, "Manchanito". These analyses indicate that Manchanito solidified as refractory glass (with oxidized Fe but reduced Ti) in a chondrule-like formation environment more than 3.2 Myr after CAIs, after which it was exposed to Q-like noble gases in the dissipating solar nebula. Manchanito's He and Ne isotopic composition and concentrations are similar to those measured in samples of comet Wild 2, from which we infer that Manchanito's parent body was a comet. We propose that after formation and exposure to Q-like gases, Manchanito was transported to the outer Solar System where it came into contact with organics and volatile ices on its cometary parent body. Manchanito provides additional evidence that cometary solids have been subjected to energetic processing and large-scale transport in a wide range of environments in the Solar System.The 26Al-26Mg ages of FeO-rich (type II) chondrules from Acfer 094, one of the least thermally metamorphosed carbonaceous chondrites, were determined by SIMS analysis of plagioclase and olivine/pyroxene using a radio frequency (RF) plasma oxygen ion source. In combination with preexisting 26Al-26Mg ages of FeO-poor (type I) chondrules, the maximum range of formation ages recorded in chondrules from a single meteorite is determined to help provide constraints on models of material transport in the proto-planetary disk. We also report new SIMS oxygen three-isotope analyses of type II chondrules in Acfer 094. All but one of the plagioclase analyses show resolvable excesses in 26Mg and isochron regressions yield initial 26Al/27Al ratios of type II chondrules that range from (3.62 ± 0.86) × 10-6 to (9.3 ± 1.1) × 10-6, which translates to formation ages between 2.71 -0.22/+0.28 Ma and 1.75 -0.11/+0.12 Ma after CAI. This overall range is indistinguishable from that determined for type I chondrules in Acfer 094. The initial 26Al/27Al ratio of the oldest type II chondrule is resolved from that of all other type II chondrules in Acfer 094. Importantly, the oldest type I chondrule and the oldest type II chondrule in Acfer 094 possess within analytical error indistinguishable initial 26Al/27Al ratios and Δ17O values of ~0‰. Ages and oxygen isotope ratios clearly set these two chondrules apart from all other chondrules in Acfer 094. It is therefore conceivable that the formation region of these two chondrules differs from that of other chondrules and in turn suggests that Acfer 094 contains two distinct chondrule generations.The current study was aimed at identifying mega-environments in Ghana and evaluating adaptability of superior sweetpotato [Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.] genotypes from a targeted breeding effort. Three sets of genotypes were evaluated in multi-environment trials (MET). Twelve sweetpotato varieties were evaluated across nine environments representing the main agro-ecological zones in Ghana. MET analysis was conducted using a stage-wise approach with the genotype × environment (G × E) table of means used as a starting point to model the G × E interaction for sweetpotato yield. Emphasis was given to the genetic correlation matrix used in a second-order factor analytic model that accommodates heterogeneity of genetic variances across environments. A genotype main effect and G × E interaction of storage root yield explained 82% of the variation in the first principal component, and visualized the genetic variances and discriminating power of each environment and the genetic correlation between the environments. Two mega-environments, corresponding to northern and southern trial sites, were delineated.
