Parents' behavioral engagement was measured with parent- and youth-self report at 2-week follow-up. Parents' self-reported anxious and depressive symptoms, insomnia, stress, and stigmatizing attitudes were not related to engagement 2 weeks later. Higher parental self-efficacy beliefs were significantly associated with greater engagement in standard discharge recommendations. It is characterized as being overly involved, protective, and low on granting autonomy, and is associated with deleterious psychosocial outcomes outside of the concussion literature. This study examined the association of overparenting and patient emotional distress and clinical outcomes (i.e., symptoms, neurocognitive test scores, recovery time) post-concussion. Adolescents/young adult concussion patients (injury  less then  30 days) and parents (N = 101 child-parent dyads) participated. Patient participants completed measures of depression, anxiety, stress, and concussion clinical outcomes while parents concurrently completed an overparenting measure. Results of a general linear model found that overparenting was associated with higher anxiety and stress report of the child. Overparenting had a significant positive correlation with concussion recovery, although of a small magnitude. Emotional distress level, but not overparenting, was moderately associated with worse performance on clinical outcomes, including neurocognitive testing, vestibular/ocular motor dysfunction, and concussion symptom severity.
Screening commercial drivers (CDs) for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) reduces the risk of motor vehicle accidents. We evaluated the accuracy of standard OSA questionnaires in a cohort of CDs.

We enrolled consecutive male CDs at 10 discrete transportation companies during their yearly scheduled occupational health visit. The CDs had their anthropometric measures taken; completed the Berlin, STOP, STOP-BANG, OSAS-TTI, SACS, EUROSAS, and ARES questionnaires; and underwent a home sleep apnea test (HSAT) for the determination of their respiratory events index (REI). We assessed the questionnaires' ability to predict OSA (REI ≥ 5 events/h) and moderate-to-severe OSA (REI ≥ 15 events/h).

Among 315 CDs recruited, 243 (77%) completed the study protocol, while 72 subjects were excluded for inadequate HSAT quality. The demographics and clinical data were comparable in both the included and excluded subjects. The included CDs had a median age of 50years (interquartile range (IQR) 25-70) and a mean body mass index of 27 ± 4kg/m
. One hundred and seventy-one subjects (71%) had OSA, and 68 (28%) had moderate-to-severe OSA. A receiver operating characteristic curve of the questionnaires were 0.51-0.71 for predicting OSA and 0.51-0.66 for moderate-to-severe OSA. The STOP-BANG questionnaire had an unsatisfactory positive predictive value, while all of the other questionnaires had an inadequate negative predictive value.

Cortical thickness values were extracted for the rostral anterior cingulate, caudal anterior cingulate, posterior cingulate, isthmus cingulate, and orbitofrontal cortex. An asymmetry index was calculated for each region. Data were analyzed using separate general linear models for each region, in which the CES-D somatic symptoms, negative affect, and anhedonia subscale scores predicted the asymmetry indices, controlling for age and sex.
