Scenario 299.
These data are the unpublished supplementary materials related to "Bioactivities of Iridoids and flavonoids present in decoctions from aerial parts of Verbascum betonicifolium" (Fadel et al., 2020, submitted). This article describes a dataset on firm-level corporate governance (CG) mechanisms in the Sultanate of Oman. It incorporates, in cross-sectional time series (pooled panel) data, eleven variables corporate governance quality, board of directors' quality, audit committee quality, board independence, board expertise, board size, board meetings, audit committee independence, audit committee expertise, audit committee size, and audit committee meetings. The dataset is derived from 1540 firm-year observations for the period 2005 to 2017, excluding financial firms (482) and firms with missing data (29), resulting in a final sample of 1029 firm-year observations. The data were extracted from six sources OSIRIS database, CG reports, Google, firm's website, directors' websites, and Bloomberg. Scholarly researchers can readily use this dataset as two data types were created to allow individual and composite measurements of corporate governance mechanisms. The individual determinants are board independence, board expertise, board size, board meetings, audit committee independence, audit committee expertise, audit committee size, and audit committee meetings. The composite measurements are corporate governance quality, board of directors' quality, and audit committee quality. This dataset could be used for investigating corporate governance mechanisms in different business and market issues. This data article aimed to investigate the quality of ground water in Kalingarayan Canal for the analysis of pollution level, Tamil Nadu. In order to understand the pollution status of the canal, nine ground water samples (GW1- GW9) were collected from the downstream side of the canal during the period between January 2014 - December 2016. Nine stations were selected along the Kalingarayan Canal, and ground water samples were collected on a monthly basis from these stations. The parameters like pH, electrical conductivity (EC), total dissolved solids (TDS), chlorides, total hardness (TH) nitrates, sulphates, sodium, calcium and magnesium were analyzed to observe the current status of the groundwater quality. Also, the groundwater quality is expressed in terms of Water Quality index (WQI). #link# The APHA method was applied to determine the physico chemical parameters of the water samples. From the investigation, WQI reflects a low quality of groundwater in sampling stations Kolathupalayam (GW3) and Perumparai (GW6) which is mainly contaminated with nitrate and the water is found to be very hard in nature. Also, it was observed that calcium and magnesium content in groundwater is very high at certain stations. Most of the groundwater from this place cannot be used for any kind of industrial processes and human consumption without proper treatment.Artificial vision has been extensively studied in the mathematical and computational Sciences. Concurrently, psychological studies attempt to describe visual cognition and the complexity of visual tasks as perceived by humans. The methods and the definitions of vision used by these two disciplines are disjointed. Particularly, an explanation of computer vision performance by human-perceived attributes, if attempted, can only be inferred. This article describes a dataset collected to explore the association between computer-extracted visual attributes and human-perceived attributes in the context of cognitive tasks. The data was acquired from a cohort of 406 subjects, ages 40-90, in the presence of a healthcare professional who assessed that the subjects had no cognitive or motor disorder. The subjects performed computerized cognitive tests which entailed tasks of recognition or recall of an image in a set of three images, presented on the computer screen. The images were simple black and white abstract square shapes. The latencies of the subjects' responses, by keyboard key press, to each task were logged. The data contains 3 parts the images presented in each task, described by binary vectors for black and white coding, a response time logged for each task and the subjects' age, gender, and computer proficiency. A preliminary comparison of computationally-extracted complexity features and subjects' performance is provided in the article entitled "Linking computerized and perceived attributes of visual complexity" [1].Evidence shows young men have poor outcomes from testicular torsion directly attributable to delay in presentation to hospital [1]. Only a third to a half of adolescents present within 6 h with testicular pain, [2,3] There is poor understanding of why adolescents delay in presenting with testicular pain. The authors started without an a-priori hypothesis and designed a thematic qualitative research protocol to explore the phenomena is a naturalistic setting [4,5] . Sixteen young men (11-19 years) and their parents or guardians underwent semi-structured interviews, directed by a topic guide which evolved with subsequent interview findings. Young men were recruited from out of school clubs to minimise the bias associated with schools or hospital recruitment, and were naïve to testicular disease. Verbatim transcriptions were coded, categories and themes formed and final concepts derived utilising a framework methodology. Selleck Galicaftor included shows the initial topic guide. The data tables presented show the emergent themes and the final code book. The authors have utilised the analysis to explore the factors impeding young men in presenting early to hospital with testicular pain [6]. The authors feel the data tables and raw data will be of interest to other researchers interested in adolescent health, health access, public health, linguistics and healthcare qualitative methodology.Juvenile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (JNCL, aka. juvenile Batten disease or CLN3 disease), a lethal pediatric neurodegenerative disease without cure, often presents with vision impairment and characteristic ophthalmoscopic features including focal areas of hyper-autofluorescence. In the associated research article "Loss of CLN3, the gene mutated in juvenile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, leads to metabolic impairment and autophagy induction in retinal pigment epithelium" (Zhong et al., 2020) [1], we reported ophthalmoscopic observations of focal autofluorescent lesions or puncta in the Cln3Δex7/8 mouse retina at as young as 8 month old. In this data article, we performed differential interference contrast and confocal imaging analyses in all retinal layers to localize and characterize these autofluorescent lesions, including their spectral characteristics and morphology. We further studied colocalization of these autofluorescent lesions with the JNCL marker mitochondrial ATP synthase F0 sub-complex subunit C and various established retinal cell type markers.
