Coronavirus and home assault: Practices for dealing with a double unexpected emergency.
RESULTS Most interventions reported high (≥70%) participation rates and significant increases in physical activity levels at follow-up; some improved physical function and/or cardiovascular disease risk factors. Community- and home-based interventions address women's cardiac rehabilitation barriers by implementing appealing modes of physical activity (e.g. dancing, group-walking, technology-based balance exercises); adapting the program to meet participants' needs; offering flexible options regarding timing and setting (e.g. closer to home, the workplace or faith-based institutions); and promoting social interactions. CONCLUSION Cardiac rehabilitation can be enhanced by understanding the specific needs of women; novel elements such as program offerings, convenient settings and opportunities for socialization should be considered when designing cardiac rehabilitation programs.A television (TV) character's actions and the consequences of these actions in TV storylines can shape the audience's own behavioral intentions, especially if the audience identifies with that character. The current research examines how storylines depicting positive versus negative consequences of drinking affect youths' drinking intentions, and whether post-narrative intervention messages delivered by story characters alter these influences. Results indicate that a post-narrative intervention can correct drinking intentions shaped by a pro-alcohol storyline, but the effectiveness depends on the source a peripheral character is more effective than the main character at delivering a corrective message. This research pinpoints the role of identification with the main character as a key driver of stories' influence and a key focus of health intervention efforts to correct these stories' potentially undesirable impact on vulnerable audiences.BACKGROUND Support groups play an important role in diabetes understanding and education. This study aims to find connections between participating in diabetes-related online communities (groups and forums) and the self-reported degree of self-care management and health problems associated with type 1 and 2 diabetes. METHODS A cross-sectional study using an online survey was conducted and 307 participants were recruited. Participants were asked about diabetes self-care management (glucose management, healthcare, dietary restrictions, and physical activity) and complications related to the disease, as well as their participation in online social groups and forums (duration, time, and intensity). RESULTS Belonging to diabetes-related online support groups (OSGs) was associated with lower scores in healthcare and self-management of diabetes (M = 2.98, SD = 1.07, n = 207, for belonging to OSGs; and M = 4.22, SD = 0.59, n = 97, for not belonging to OSGs). Empagliflozin cost These differences were not statistically significant for type 1 diabetes individuals (M = 4.33, SD = 0.47, n = 28, for belonging to OSGs, and M = 4.29, SD = 0.48, n = 52, for not belonging to OSGs), but were highly significant for type 2 diabetes (T2D) individuals (M = 2.41, SD = 0.68, n = 144, for belonging to OSGs; and M = 4.14, SD = 0.64, n = 61, for not belonging to OSGs). People with both type 1 and 2 diabetes reported to have suffered more complications derived from diabetes when they belonged to an OSG, but greater statistically significant differences were found in type 2 individuals. CONCLUSION Patients with T2D who participate in OSGs show a higher correlation with having lower levels of diabetes self-care management as well as health complications related to the disease. One major gap in existing health communication research is that few studies have synthesized findings from the literature to map out what are the key factors related to workplace (a) safety awareness, (b) safety risks, (c) health awareness, and (d) health risks. This study bridges the gap by systematically reviewing what these organizational, cultural, and individual-level factors are, and examine the impact of workplace safety and health publications using traditional and alternative metrics in academic and non-academic settings. Through an iterative process of coding, the results revealed six categories of organizational (management commitment, management support, organizational safety communication, safety management systems, physical work environment, and organizational environment), two cultural (interpersonal support and organizational culture), and four individual-level (perception, motivation, attitude, and behavior) factors. In terms of impact, articles that were most impactful in academia (e.g., high citation count) may not necessarily receive the same amount of online attention from the public. Theoretical and practical implications for health communication were discussed.A new polyketide, solieritide A (1), along with six known ones (2-7), had been isolated from the red alga Solieria sp. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis. The absolute configuration of 1 was determined by the method of X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 was a rare polyketide bearing benzopyrone ring fused with γ-butyrolactone. Compounds 2-7 were isolated from the red algae of genus Solieria for the first time. The antibacterial activities of 1-7 were also discussed. Each individual is endowed with a unique gut microbiota (GM) footprint, which mediates numerous host-related physiological functions such as nutrient metabolism, maintenance of structural integrity of the gut mucosal barrier, immunomodulation, and protection against microbial pathogens. The rapid scientific interest in GM has recognized its central role in the pathophysiology of many intestinal and extra-intestinal conditions. Given the close relationship between the gastro-intestinal tract and the liver, many pathological processes have been investigated in the light of a microbial-centered hypothesis of hepatic damage. In this review, we want to introduce to neophytes the vast world of gut microbes - including prevalent bacterial distribution in healthy individuals, how the microbiota is commonly analyzed, and the current knowledge on the role of GM in liver diseases pathophysiology. Besides, we highlight the potentials and downsides of GM-based therapy.
