(2) The experimental results also show that frequency has an important effect on the measurement of electrical parameters. As the frequency increases, the resistance, capacitance, and impedance decrease. In addition, at high frequencies, the electrical properties of loess are basically not affected by temperature. Therefore, using a frequency of 100 Hz is more advantageous to study the variation law of the electrical properties of loess. The total contents and chemical speciation analysis of Zn, Cu, Pb, Cr, Mn, Ni, Cd, and As in pig manure (PM), liquefaction residues (LRs), and bio-oils (BOs) derived from PM by liquefaction with ethanol as a solvent at 180-300 °C were thoroughly investigated in this study. The environment risk assessment, leachability, and bioavailability of heavy metals in PM and LRs were studied. The results showed that more than 75% of heavy metals remained in LRs. The total contents of heavy metals in LRs were markedly elevated, but those in BOs gradually decreased with the increase in liquefaction temperature. Moreover, the acid soluble/exchangeable fraction and reducible fraction (F1 + F2) of heavy metals in LRs and BOs was significantly reduced, while oxidizable fraction and stable fraction (F3 + F4) desirably increased after liquefaction. Furthermore, the potential risk of heavy metals in LRs was decreased in comparison to that in PM, but the risk of Pb, Mn, and As had not been obviously reduced; therefore, the LRs from the liquefaction of PM should be pretreated before recycling. Temperatures from 220 to 260 °C were the optimum conditions for disposing of PM by liquefaction with ethanol. One of the aims of Goal 11 of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is to make human settlements sustainable. Some effort should therefore focus on developing maintenance strategies for buildings. Polished granite cladding tiles are very popular for use as flooring material in private and public buildings. These tiles are often treated by mechanical cleaning with detergents and scrubbers, and anionic detergents without chelating agents are usually used to prevent damaging the material. In this study, the anionic detergent Teepol® was applied to granite tiles in order to determine the effect of the treatment on the surface properties of this stone, i.e. appearance, colour, gloss, roughness and hydrophobicity. The results obtained were explained by scanning electron microscopy observations, which enabled characterisation of the microtexture of the surfaces, chemical contamination and any damage to the different granite-forming minerals. The results were compared with those obtained for tiles cleaned by the same mechanical procedure but with tap water in place of detergent and for tiles treated by immersion in water without any mechanical action. In summary, the properties evaluated were affected by the extraction of the typical oxyhydroxylated iron forms that fill cracks in the granite and by the formation of new cracks due to the mechanical action. Moreover, colour changes and the chemical contamination (C-rich deposits with Na, S, Cl, Ca and Mg) hindered the effectiveness of the cleaning procedure.Nickel (Ni) is a widely distributed metal in the environment and an important pollutant due to its widespread industrial applications. Ni has various toxicity in humans and experimental animals, including carcinogenicity. However, the carcinogenic effects of Ni remain troublesome. Cell cycle dysregulation may be an important carcinogenic mechanism and is also a potential molecular mechanism for Ni complexes anti-cancerous effects. Therefore, we conducted a literature review to summarize the effects of Ni on cell cycle. Up to now, there were three different reports on Ni-induced cell cycle arrest (i) Ni can induce cell cycle arrest in G0/G1 phase, phosphorylation and degradation of IkappaB kinase-alpha (IKKα)-dependent cyclin D1 and phosphoinositide-3-kinase (PI3K)/serine-threonine kinase (Akt) pathway-mediated down-regulation of expressions of cyclin-dependent kinases 4 (CDK4) play important role in it; (ii) Ni can induce cell cycle arrest in S phase, but the molecular mechanism is not known; (iii) G2/M phase is the target of Ni toxicity, and Ni compounds cause G2/M cell cycle phase arrest by reducing cyclinB1/Cdc2 interaction through the activation of the ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM)-p53-p21 and ATM-checkpoint kinase inhibitor 1 (Chk1)/Chk2-cell division cycle 25 (Cdc25) pathways. Revealing the mechanisms of cell cycle dysregulation associated with Ni exposure may help in the prevention and treatment of Ni-related carcinogenicity and toxicology. With the advancement of industrialization and urbanization, the issue of water shortage has become a bottleneck for China's economic development. Based on the structural decomposition analysis and multi-regional input-output tables of China in 2002 and 2012, this paper explores the drivers of the change in China's production water usage from the regional relevance perspective. Results show a significant increase in China's production water usage during the study period. The relationship between production water usage and per capita GDP shows an inverted U-shaped curve, and the economic scale by provinces has been improved, while the trend of production water usage differs. There are rapid increases in production water usage in economically developing provinces, while it is falling sharply in developed provinces. The crucial factors promoting its growth are changes in consumption level, population scale, and regional economic patterns. The technical effect is the most important factor in curbing the growth, followed by effects of final demand sectoral and distribution structure. The provinces and sectors with more production water usage shows higher technical and final demand effects. Therefore, it is necessary to promote water-saving activities, enhance the water-saving technical effect, and optimize final demand structure to promote economic growth with low-water usage.Excess trace metals may cause damage to human health due to the consumption of food grain grown in contaminated soils. This study was designed to understand the genetic mechanisms of copper (Cu) and zinc (Zn) accumulation in wheat grain under stressed environments. The differences of Cu/Zn contents in the grain among 246 wheat varieties were analyzed, and the wheat varieties with low or high accumulation of Cu and Zn in the safe range were also screened out. The accumulation of Cu and Zn in grains of "Chushanbao" was lowest, which could be used as a novel germplasm for wheat breeding under heavy metal stress. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/ebselen.html We found that Cu contents of wheat grain were significantly and positively correlated with Zn. The quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for grain Cu content (GCuC) and grain Zn content (GZnC) were detected by genome-wide association study (GWAS). Twenty-three loci affecting GCuC were identified on chromosomes 1A, 1D, 2A, 2B, 2D, 3A, 3B, 3D, 4A, 4B 4D, 5A, 6D, 7A, and 7B, explaining 2.6-5.8% of the phenotypic variation.
