The best model distinguished three factors Enhanced Interpretation and Emotionality, Sharpening of Senses and Heightened Cognition. Reliability and convergent validity estimates were good in both groups. The Sharpening of Senses factor was able to discriminate between patients and the general population. Only the Heightened Cognition factor was able to discriminate patients with psychosis from the other psychiatric patients. The ASI is a valid and reliable tool to study not only the aberrant salience phenomenon in patients with psychosis, but also with other diagnoses and within the general population.
Review relationships among circadian clocks, core body temperature (CBT), and fertility in women.
Scoping literature review.
Circadian clocks are a ubiquitous adaptation to the most predictable environmental events - the daily cycles of light and dark. Core body temperature (CBT) also follows a circadian rhythm. Additionally, CBT is tightly controlled by a combination of neuronal circuits that begin in the hypothalamus and involve many other portions of the brain as well as a wide range of peripheral mechanisms. In women with normal reproductive function, the diurnal temperature pattern for CBT is strongly influenced by the menstrual cycle of reproductive hormones, primarily estradiol and progesterone, which modulate the activity of hypothalamic neural circuits involved in body temperature control, resulting in an infradian CBT rhythm.
Analysis of CBT via continuous recording reveals patterns in the interactions of circadian and infradian CBT rhythms capable of accurately predicting the fertility window and hormonal patterns suggesting oligo-ovulation and subfertility. New wearable technologies can facilitate employment of hormone-associated changes in CBT for pregnancy planning and offer clinical insight to infertility and menopause.

However, the elevated toxicity due to the non-tumor-associated effects, development of secondary malignancies, infertility, radiation-induced fibrosis and resistance to treatment limit the effectiveness and safety of treatment. In addition, these multiple factors significantly impact quality of life. Over the last decades, our increased understanding of cancer epigenetics has led to new therapeutic approaches and the promise of improved patient outcomes. Epigenetic alterations are commonly found in cancer, especially the increased expression and activity of histone deacetylases (HDACs). Dysregulation of HDACs are critical to the development and progression of the majority of tumors. Hence, HDACs inhibitors (HDACis) were developed and now represent a very promising treatment strategy. The use of HDACis as monotherapy has shown very positive pre-clinical results, but clinical trials have had only limited success. However, combinatorial regimens with other cancer drugs have shown synergistic effects both in pre-clinical and clinical studies. At the same time, these combinations have enhanced the efficacy, reduced the toxicity and tumor resistance to therapy. In this review, we will examine examples of HDACis used in combination with other cancer drugs and highlight the synergistic effects observed in recent preclinical and clinical studies. The adverse effects of global climate change combined with an exponentially increasing human population have put substantial constraints on agriculture, accelerating efforts towards ensuring food security for a sustainable future. Conventional plant breeding and modern technologies have led to the creation of plants with better traits and higher productivity. Most crop improvement approaches (conventional breeding, genome modification, and gene editing) primarily rely on DNA repair and recombination (DRR). Studying plant DRR can provide insights into designing new strategies or improvising the present techniques for crop improvement. Even though plants have evolved specialized DRR mechanisms compared to other eukaryotes, most of our insights about plant-DRRs remain rooted in studies conducted in animals. DRR mechanisms in plants include direct repair, nucleotide excision repair (NER), base excision repair (BER), mismatch repair (MMR), non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) and homologous recombination (HR). Although each DRR pathway acts on specific DNA damage, there is crosstalk between these. Considering the importance of DRR pathways as a tool in crop improvement, this review focuses on a general description of each DRR pathway, emphasizing on the structural aspects of key DRR proteins. The review highlights the gaps in our understanding and the importance of studying plant DRR in the context of crop improvement.EAT-UpTF (Enrichment Analysis Tool for Upstream Transcription Factors of a group of plant genes) is an open-source Python script that analyzes the enrichment of upstream transcription factors (TFs) in a group of genes-of-interest (GOIs). EAT-UpTF utilizes genome-wide lists of TF-target genes generated by DNA affinity purification followed by sequencing (DAP-seq) or chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by sequencing (ChIP-seq). Unlike previous methods based on the two-step prediction of cis-motifs and DNA-element-binding TFs, our EAT-UpTF analysis enabled a one-step identification of enriched upstream TFs in a set of GOIs using lists of empirically determined TF-target genes. The tool is designed particularly for plant researches, due to the lack of analytic tools for upstream TF enrichment, and available at https//github.com/sangreashim/EAT-UpTF and http//chromatindynamics.snu.ac.kr8080/EatupTF.Oxidative stress is one of the crucial mediators of varicocele-related male infertility. Recently, roles of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in oxidative stress have begun to emerge, however, little is known about their role in male infertility. The aim of this study was to determine the role of lncRNA SLC7A11-AS1 in varicocele-related male infertility. Through a high-throughput bioinformatics investigation, we predicted that lncRNA SLC7A11-AS1 might be involved in this type of infertility. The reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and expression levels of SLC7A11-AS1 isoforms were evaluated in ejaculated spermatozoa of 25 infertile men with varicocele and 17 fertile individuals as control. Isoform 6 of SLC7A11-AS1 that showed a significant elevation in infertile men with varicocele relative to the fertile group was overexpressed in testicular-derived carcinoma cell lines (NT2 and NCCIT) followed by assessment of ROS, glutathione (GSH), lipid peroxidation, and cell viability. Overexpression of SLC7A11-AS1 isoform 6 in NT2 and NCCIT cell lines resulted in a significant downregulation of SLC7A11 gene expression, which consequently decreased GSH levels and concomitantly increased ROS levels and enhanced lipid peroxidation, which jeopardized cell survival and promoted cell death.
