Breast cancer is the most common and fatal malignant tumor in women, which causes great social burden throughout the world. At present, chemotherapy is still the most important treatment manner of advanced breast cancer, and platinum drugs are one of the commonly used chemotherapeutic drugs. Based on the substantial evidence, the expert committee deeply discusses the clinical application of platinum drugs in advanced breast cancer, gives the reasonable suggestions for its clinical usage, effectiveness and adverse effects. This consensus aims to guide physicians to use drugs reasonably and standardize the diagnosis and treatment. The pathological classification and clinical manifestations of lymphoma are complex, and there are many difficult cases. Therefore, the cooperation of different disciplines is needed in the process of diagnosis and treatment. Multi-disciplinary treatment (MDT) strategy can reduce the misdiagnosis and mistreatment, shorten the waiting time, promote the standardization and individualization of treatment, and improve the treatment outcome. ML355 in vivo In order to promote the development of MDT strategy for lymphoma in China, China Anti-Cancer Association Lymphoma Committee, Chinese Association for Clinical Oncologists and Medical Oncology Branch of Chinese International Exchange and Promotion Association for Medical and Health care co-organized the national experts committee to formulate "Clinical Practice Guideline for Multi-disciplinary Treatment Strategy of Lymphoma in China" .The COVID-19 confinement has dramatically altered daily routines, causing decreased sleep quality in adults. This necessitates careful observation, as sleep plays a crucial role in brain maturation and poor sleep increases the risk of psychopathology, particularly in the young population. Through an online survey with one baseline (April 2020) and two follow-up assessments (May and June 2020), we examined the effect of confinement on sleep quality in 452 babies (0-35 months) and 412 preschool children (36-71 months) from several, mainly European, countries. An acute decrease in sleep quality was found in both groups of children. However, at follow-up assessments, this effect rebounded to the level reported for the period before the confinement. Importantly, caregiver's stress level was identified as a substantial risk factor determining lower sleep quality in both groups of children across assessments. Protective factors conserving children's sleep quality included caregiver's engagement in mindfulness techniques or childcare, and the presence of siblings and pets. In the near future, we may repeatedly experience the circumstances of abruptly enforced confinement. Our findings reveal promising pathways of action to protect young children's sleep, with which to essentially mitigate the long-term consequences of the pandemic on brain development and mental health.Previous studies have pointed out the importance of emotional affiliation with nature in fostering environmentalism, but the mechanisms through which such emotional motives influence pro-environmental behaviors are still unclear. To address this issue, this study introduced love of nature into the value-belief-norm model as an emotional basis. The model was examined in predicting high-cost and low-cost green consumer behaviors (GCBs) in selected undergraduate student populations in eastern China. Using data from an online survey (N = 291), this study found personal norms positively predicted both high-cost and low-cost GCBs. Ecological worldview positively predicted low-cost GCBs and its effect was larger than that of personal norms. Love of nature had positive effects on biospheric values and personal norms. The relationships between love of nature and the two types of GCBs were mediated mainly by personal norms, ecological worldview, and biospheric values. The results supported the argument that emotional affiliation to nature offers an essential basis for a moral concern that guides GCBs. The findings also suggest moral concerns may be more salient for difficult and inconvenient GCBs.Extracorporeal life support (ECLS) is an effective method for bridging patients to recovery in cases of respiratory and/or cardiac failure that are potentially reversible and unresponsive to conventional management. Nevertheless, there have been only few reports about the use of ECLS in oncological patients with complications due to their neoplasm or its treatment. We report the use of veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in three cases of severe perioperative complications following surgery for mesothelioma after induction chemotherapy at our Institution.
The Nuss procedure is the most common surgical repair for pectus excavatum (PE). Surgical steel wires are used in some modifications of the Nuss procedure to attach one or both ends of a support bar to the ribs. During follow-up, wire breakage was found in some cases. Patients with wire breakage may undergo prolonged bar removal surgery and may be exposed to excessive radiation. In this study, we had a series of patients who received polydioxanone suture (PDS) fixations instead of steel wires. This retrospective study was conducted to explore the differences between these two fixation materials in the incidence of related complications and efficacies. Furthermore, we attempted to observe whether the two materials lead to similar surgical efficacy in the Nuss procedure, whether they have divergent effects on the bar removal surgery, and whether PDS can reduce the risks due to steel wire breakage as expected.
We retrospectively studied PDS and surgical steel wires as fixation materials for the Nuss procedu in the BW group (
< 0.05). BL in the PDS group was less than that in the other two groups (
< 0.05). Additionally, no difference was observed in BL between the BW and UBW groups (
> 0.05). The PPS of the PDS group was less than that of the BW group (
< 0.05), whereas no differences were found between the other two groups. No statistical difference emerged in HI among the groups (
> 0.05).
PDS fixation results in a similar repair outcome and shows certain advantages in the DO, BL, and PPS; also, PDSs are safe and effective in the Nuss procedure.
