Though the APM has been utilized to explain college student cannabis use, a comprehensive model conceptualizing impulsivity as a multidimensional construct has not been examined. Guided by the APM, the current study examined facets of impulsivity as simultaneous predictors of cannabis use through positive and negative expectancies. College students (N = 478) completed an online survey assessing frequency of past-month cannabis use, facets of impulsivity, and cannabis expectancies. Using a bootstrapped path analysis, five facets of impulsivity were modeled as predictors of past-month cannabis use via positive and negative expectancies. A zero-inflated Poisson distribution was used, wherein dichotomous past-month cannabis use was examined independently of frequency. There was a significant indirect effect of sensation seeking on both increased likelihood and frequency of use through strong positive expectancies. Additionally, both negative and positive urgency were associated with a decreased likelihood of use through stronger negative expectancies, while lack of premeditation was associated with an increased likelihood of use through weaker negative expectancies. These results underscore the importance of examining impulsivity as a multi-dimensional construct in the understanding of college student cannabis use behavior.Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a severe form of haemorrhagic fever identified in parts of Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. CCHF continues to be a justifiable cause of concern for people in rural areas where the disease is endemic. A total of 151 patients, diagnosed with CCHF, were evaluated retrospectively. The demographic characteristics of these patients and the relationship between the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) at admission and survival were examined. There were 21 (13.9%) deaths. There was no relationship between age, gender and mortality, but elevated neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on admission was statistically associated with mortality. NLR is a laboratory marker that can be studied even in medical centres with limited facilities and may be helpful in predicting the clinical course of the disease.Silicosis is an occupational fibrotic lung disease caused by inhaling large amounts of crystalline silica dust. Transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1), which is secreted from macrophages, has an important role in the development of this disease. Macrophages can recognize and capture silicon dust, undergo M2 polarization, synthesize TGF-β1 precursors, and secrete them out of the cell where they are activated. Activated TGF-β1 induces cells from different sources, transforming them into myofibroblasts through autocrine and paracrine mechanisms, ultimately causing silicosis. These processes involve complex molecular events, which are not yet fully understood. This systematic summary may further elucidate the location and development of pulmonary fibrosis in the formation of silicosis. In this review, we discussed the proposed cellular and molecular mechanisms of production, secretion, activation of TGF-β1, as well as the mechanisms through which TGF-β1 induces cells from three different sources into myofibroblasts during the pathogenesis of silicosis. This study furthers the medical understanding of the pathogenesis and theoretical basis for diagnosing silicosis, thereby promoting silicosis prevention and treatment.
To evaluate local control and longitudinal endocrine data in monorchid patients treated with testicular-sparing surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy (RT) for seminomatous germ-cell tumors.

We searched our database established in 2009 for patients with seminoma who received testis irradiation following partial orchiectomy up to 2018. Eleven patients were identified. All had associated germ cell neoplasia in situ (GCNIS) in surrounding parenchyma. Analysis focused on local control and testosterone levels preservation after RT. We considered age, baseline (pre-RT) testosterone and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels, residual testicular volume, tumor size, and testosterone and LH levels trend over time in order to identify any association with endocrine impairment leading to hormonal replacement need.

After a median follow-up of 21 months, no local or distant relapses were observed and hormonal function was maintained in 54.5% of patients (6/11). No significant interactions were observed for the investigated covariates.
