Built In Microwave Over Oven Tips From The Top In The Industry
Benefits of a Built in Microwave Over Oven

A built-in microwave over an oven allows you to cook and reheat food quickly and efficiently. GE offers a wide variety of styles, cooking technology and control options that will suit your kitchen.

Built-in microwaves are positioned behind cabinets or in recessed walls to give them a sleek and integrated look. These models require professional installation.

Space Saver

The microwave is a common appliance in the kitchen, however it can also occupy valuable countertop space. There are many smart ways to reclaim countertop space by moving the microwave to a different place, like a kitchen island or recessing it into the wall.

Over-the-range microwaves (OTRs) are a popular choice. This type of microwave, which is neatly tucked behind your stove can be extremely useful in kitchens with a limited space. Certain OTR models also double as an air vent for your cooktop. This can help to reduce the buildup of steam.

Installing a microwave integrated into your cabinetry can make space. This can give you an elegant, seamless look that can match the style, color, or finish of your kitchen fixtures and cabinets. It can also help create a more streamlined appearance in your kitchen, which is perfect for homeowners who want minimalist and clear design.

However, installing a built-in microwave might require a professional installation or remodeling of your kitchen. Depending on integrated microwave oven combo , you might be able to cut a space into walls to accommodate the appliance, however, this requires the proper framing and reinforcement and should be left to experts. Built-in microwaves require ventilation to avoid overheating and damaging the appliance. According to Sam Cipiti of R. M. Tunis Kitchens and Baths in Chevy Chase, Maryland the minimum cabinet depth for a built-in oven is 15 inches. However, some manufacturers offer trim kits that give up to 1 1/2 inch of extra space to allow for ventilation.

A microwave that is built like a drawer can be installed under your counter or inside an island. This type of microwave is simple to use and suitable for everyone and requires less countertop space. It can also prevent hot dishes or containers falling off the edge or being thrown down.

The door's design is an important factor to consider when selecting a microwave that is space-saving. A lot of brands have doors that can be opened in the same manner as other kitchen appliances, including a slide-out or drop-down. This allows you to integrate your microwave seamlessly into your cooking workflow. Certain models feature an elegant, smooth exterior that is resistant to fingerprints to give better and cleaner appearance.

Convenience

A built-in microwave that is over the oven has a stylish, convenient and easy-to-clean design. They are typically placed at eye level for easy access and are equipped with turntables that make it easier to move food from one plate to the next. Built-in microwaves are often equipped with features that improve their functionality, such as EasyConvection technology for oven conversion and a broiler element that can cook or brown food.

A built-in microwave over the oven can help you save counter space and increase the value of your home by giving it a sleek, high-end appearance that other appliances may not be able to match. They can be set up above the stove, or in a separate cupboard. They blend seamlessly into the kitchen to give it a tailored look that shows how much you've put in your home and kitchen.

Built-in microwaves and ovens are available in a vast variety of dimensions in terms of power levels, features and models to match any kitchen configuration. Install them under the counter in drawer style to give an integrated look that can be easily integrated into existing cabinets. It doesn't require any additional space. Made with premium finishes and high-end features These microwaves are guaranteed to complement your kitchen's aesthetic and enhance your cooking and entertaining experience.

While the benefits of a built-in microwave over oven is clear but keep in mind that these microwaves aren't as flexible as their freestanding counterparts. Depending on the place you install yours, it may require more space to operate than other types of microwaves. They are also not as portable, and you cannot easily alter the model if you need something else.

If you decide to place the microwave on top of your range, then you will need a larger space in your kitchen to accommodate the ventilation needed by this arrangement. You'll need a ducting option that directs smoke to the outside, or a ventilation system that recirculates air through the microwave into the house. If you have a smaller kitchen, consider a separate microwave built-in that can be incorporated in a cabinet, wall or island.

Convenient Controls

Microwave ovens come with numerous controls, depending on the model you pick. Some of the features include turntables, presets like defrosting or reheating, and buttons for plus-30 minutes. Some models have child safety features that prevent accidental operation of the appliance.

Many microwaves also come with preset recipes and cooking times that make the process of making meals faster and easier. This feature is useful for those who are just beginning to cook and are uncertain of the proper time to cook certain foods or are not familiar with the specific cooking techniques employed in various cuisines.

KitchenAid brand provides a wide selection of built-in and over the-range microwaves that are designed to complement the style and finish of other appliances for an integrated look in your kitchen. Choose from stainless steel or black finishes that will match any kitchen. These premium microwaves are boldly designed to bring professional-inspired styles into your home, and they're made with high-quality materials for a longer lifespan.

Unlike models for countertop use built-in microwaves are fitted into a fixed space in your kitchen walls or cabinets to give your kitchen a sleek, customized appearance. The internal components are typically identical to those of regular countertop models with some exceptions. They are available in various sizes, including some that are designed to be able to fit in small spaces. Their exteriors could have a door which opens in a swing-out from left to right or drop-down design.

Certain microwaves in the range, such as the ones made by Whirlpool(r) and Whirlpool(r), can be used as vent hoods. They have an exhaust system that is built-in to vent fumes outdoors and recirculate the air. Certain microwaves have charcoal filters that get rid of odors and moisture in your kitchen.

Countertop models are installed on the counter of the kitchen. They don't need venting or any special installation. This makes them an ideal option for those who lease their homes or want to stay clear of costly modifications to their kitchens. Certain models have trim kits that can be used to fill the gap between the microwave and other countertop appliances, such as toaster ovens, coffee pots or bread makers.

Energy Efficiency

Microwaves are much more efficient at heating food and water in comparison to other cooking methods. They also consume less power than stovetops that are conventional because microwaves concentrate their energy on the liquid in, rather than heating the air around it. They can cook food quicker than conventional ovens. They can be installed either in the lower or upper cabinets and come in modern or retro designs to fit any kitchen.

In this supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking ("SNOPR") the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy proposes new or modified energy conservation standards for microwave ovens, which will save consumers money on their operating costs. The Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) requires DOE to regularly assess whether stricter standards are technically feasible and economically justifiable and if they can result in significant energy savings.

This SNOPR includes DOE's analysis and findings to assess the impact of new or amended energy standards for microwave ovens on the consumer. The analysis includes a market and technology assessment, a screening analysis, an engineering analysis and national impacts analysis.

The energy use analysis calculates the annual average of microwave oven operating hours in a sample of homes. This analysis is used to calculate energy savings and other consumer analysis within this SNOPR. The analysis is based on RECS field data collected from various regions. It also considers the different patterns of use of microwave ovens in different households as well as regional variations in electricity prices.

To evaluate the impact of the new or modified standards on household expenses, DOE conducted LCC analyses and PBP analyses to determine the lifetime cost for purchasing and using a microwave oven at different efficiency level. The LCC and PBP calculations employ the computer model built on Monte Carlo simulations to incorporate uncertainties and variations into the analyses.

In addition to the energy-use and LCC/PBP analyses, this SNOPR contains an evaluation of the national impact of new or amended standards that are based on the NIA spreadsheet model. The NIA model calculates the industry net present value (INPV) in terms of energy savings from the potential amendment or new standard in terms of site energy savings and FFC savings.
