A novel voxel-based spatial elongation filtering method is proposed, to reduce noise in airborne single-photon lidar (SPL) data. In this method, six additional points are generated adjacent to each point of interest in the SPL data. Then, we count the number of points within each voxel and discriminate signals from noise via a predefined threshold. A filter performance evaluation index (taking into account the false alarm and signal loss rates, and the average distance between the residual noise points and their nearest signal points) is introduced. We compare the proposed and voxel-based spatial filtering method. The average false alarm rate found with our method (3.5%) is 18.6% smaller than that of the voxel-based spatial filtering method (4.3%).Optical diffraction tomography is an effective tool to estimate the refractive indices of unknown objects. It proceeds by solving an ill-posed inverse problem for which the wave equation governs the scattering events. The solution has traditionally been derived by the minimization of an objective function in which the data-fidelity term encourages measurement consistency while the regularization term enforces prior constraints. In this work, we propose to train a convolutional neural network (CNN) as the projector in a projected-gradient-descent method. We iteratively produce high-quality estimates and ensure measurement consistency, thus keeping the best of CNN-based and regularization-based worlds. Our experiments on two-dimensional-simulated and real data show an improvement over other conventional or deep-learning-based methods. Furthermore, our trained CNN projector is general enough to accommodate various forward models for the handling of multiple-scattering events.Silicon based multi-junction solar cells are a promising approach for achieving high power conversion efficiencies using relatively low-cost substrates. In recent years, 2-terminal triple-junction solar cells using GaInP/GaAs as top cells and Si bottom cell have achieved excellent efficiencies. Epitaxial growth or wafer bonding has been used for the integration of the cells. This requires the top surface of the Si cell to be polished for effective integration, sacrificing the light trapping in the Si cell. The poor long wavelength light absorption in silicon limits the tandem cell efficiency as it is limited by current mismatch. In this work, for the first time, an external surface texturing is attached onto a GaInP/GaAs//Si wafer bonded triple-junction solar cell, using polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) layers with surface geometries replicated from various pyramidally-textured silicon wafers. With reduced reflection, the short circuit current density is increased by 0.95 mA/cm2, while the overall cell efficiency is boosted by more than 2 % absolute. We present a computational method for full-range interferometric synthetic aperture microscopy (ISAM) under dispersion encoding. With this, one can effectively double the depth range of optical coherence tomography (OCT), whilst dramatically enhancing the spatial resolution away from the focal plane. To this end, we propose a model-based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) method, where ISAM is directly considered in an optimization approach, and we make the discovery that sparsity promoting regularization effectively recovers the full-range signal. Within this work, we adopt an optimal nonuniform discrete fast Fourier transform (NUFFT) implementation of ISAM, which is both fast and numerically stable throughout iterations. Fluoxetine price We validate our method with several complex samples, scanned with a commercial SD-OCT system with no hardware modification. With this, we both demonstrate full-range ISAM imaging and significantly outperform combinations of existing methods. We developed a modified photonic Doppler velocimetry (PDV) configuration which possesses the ability to record wide-range velocity information to evaluate composite material fracture behavior. With the laminate and tunnel design of a fragment generator, the controllable parameters such as fragment size and applied voltage can provide the flexibility for dynamic evaluation under different momentum conditions. We obtained velocity profiles using continuous wavelet transforms and by using our proposed velocity line tracing algorithm. Simulated heterodyne signals and surface morphology of fractures were examined to verify the heterodyne signals. We observed that the obtained tunnel-end velocity of the fragment generator was proportional to the applied voltage. The resonant peaks of biomolecules provide information on the molecules' physical and chemical properties. Although many biomolecules have resonant peaks in the terahertz region, it is difficult to observe their specific signals in aqueous environments. Hence, this paper proposes a method for determining these peaks. We found the specific resonant peaks of a modified nucleoside, 5-methlycytidine and modified HEK293T DNA in an aqueous solution through baseline correction. We evaluated the consistency of various fitting functions used for determining the peaks with various parameters. We separated two resonance peaks of 5-methlycytidine at 1.59 and 1.97 THz and for artificially methylated HEK293T DNA at 1.64 and 2.0 THz.We propose a deep learning computational ghost imaging (CGI) scheme to achieve sub-Nyquist and high-quality image reconstruction. Unlike the second-order-correlation CGI and compressive-sensing CGI, which use lots of illumination patterns and a one-dimensional (1-D) light intensity sequence (LIS) for image reconstruction, a deep neural network (DAttNet) is proposed to restore the target image only using the 1-D LIS. The DAttNet is trained with simulation data and retrieves the target image from experimental data. The experimental results indicate that the proposed scheme can provide high-quality images with a sub-Nyquist sampling ratio and performs better than the conventional and compressive-sensing CGI methods in sub-Nyquist sampling ratio conditions (e.g., 5.45%). The proposed scheme has potential practical applications in underwater, real-time and dynamic CGI.
