Distance between home and hospital was linked neither to complication rate, nor to switch to CH.

Ambulatory URS is possible without further complications in selected patients living beyond 100km from the hospital, because of a specific organisation and an appropriate training of the caregivers involved in postoperative patient care.

An outbreak of Zika virus disease, a self-limiting arbovirus infection involving skin rash and fever, occurred in Brazil in 2015 and was followed by an increase in newborns with microcephaly and brain malformations. Although two recent studies reported neurogenic bladder in children with microcephaly and congenital Zika syndrome (CZS), urologic evaluation is not yet routine.

To investigate the urological profile of children with microcephaly and CZS.

A descriptive, cross-sectional study conducted with children with microcephaly undergoing clinical, laboratory, urodynamic and ultrasonographic evaluation at a center for childhood urinary disorders in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.

Thirty-three children were evaluated. Mean age was 40.3±3.2 months (range 35-47 months). Twenty-one (63.6%) were female. None urinated voluntarily. Urine stream was continuous in 22 (66.7%) and intermittent in 3 (9.1%), with no information in 8 cases (24.2%). Abdominal straining during voiding was absent in 27 (81.8%) and present incephaly is sparse; however, the present results differ from cases of neurogenic bladder in children with neural tube closure defects. Microcephaly in CZS involves a neurological and urodynamic pattern very similar to that found in children with cerebral palsy. Study limitations include the absence of a control group and neurological data with which to correlate these findings.

Neurogenic bladder in children with CZS-associated microcephaly was much less common than recently reported. Most patients had no kidney abnormalities, but small bladder capacity and reflex bladder, with non-significant post-void residual urine.

Image-guided percutaneous core needle biopsy (CNB) has been an important diagnostic procedure for musculoskeletal lesions. Here we surveyed the variety of diagnostic strategies available and assessed the clinical usefulness and limitations of image-guided CNB carried out by a multidisciplinary team comprising specialists in various fields.

We conducted a retrospective study of 284 image-guided CNBs among 1899 consecutive biopsy procedures carried out at our institution for musculoskeletal tumorous conditions, focusing on their effectiveness including diagnostic accuracy and utility for classification of specimens according to malignant potential and histological subtype as well as their correlation with biopsy routes.

Among the 284 studied biopsies, 252 (88.7%) were considered clinically "effective". The sensitivity for detection of malignancy was 94.0% (110/117) and the specificity was 95.3% (41/43). The diagnostic accuracy for detection of malignancy was 94.4% (151/160) and that for histological subtyed routes, especially for spine and pelvic lesions, may be associated with ineffectiveness and/or complications.
The aim of the study is to investigate the protective effect of taxifolin (3,5,7,3,4-pentahydroxy flavanone), a strong antioxidant, against testicular I/R injury in rats biochemically and histopathologically.

50mg/kg taxifolin was administered to taxifolin+testicular torsion-detorsion (TTTD, n-10) group of Albino Wistar male rats by oral gavage. Distilled water .5ml as a solvent was administered to testicular torsion-detorsion (TTD, n-10) and Healthy Control (SG, n-10) groups using the same method. An hour after the administration of taxifolin and distilled water, anaesthesia (ketamine 60mg/kg) was administered to all animal groups. TTD and TTTD group animals were subjected to testicular torsion at 720 degrees for four hours during anaesthesia. At the end of this period, testicular detorsion was applied and perfusion was allowed for four hours. Sham operation was applied to SG group.

Our biochemical experiment results showed that the amount of malondialdehyde (MDA) in testicular tissue of TTD group presented a significant increase compared to SG and TTTD groups whereas total glutathione (tGSH) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels decreased. In addition, while TTD group presented severe histopathological damage in germinal epithelium cell and seminiferous tubule, mild damage was observed in TTTD group.

The results of our experiment indicate that taxifolin could be useful in the treatment of testicular I/R damage.

Collaborations across these sectors are essential to providing effective screening, treatment, and discharge planning; connecting individuals to services following release; promoting long-term recovery while reducing recidivism; and ultimately bringing the opioid crisis under control. In 2019, with the support of the NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) Initiative, the National Institute on Drug Abuse launched the Justice Community Opioid Innovation Network (JCOIN). MV1035 manufacturer JCOIN is a >$150M multisite cooperative designed to facilitate transdisciplinary collaborations that can create actionable, translatable insights for the justice system and community-based organizations to address the opioid epidemic in justice-involved populations. JCOIN brings together 11 Research Hubs, a coordination and translation center (CTC), and a methodology and advanced analytics resource center (MAARC), with the goal of generating evidence that is greater than the sum of the parts. Collectively, the network will field at least 12 large-scale multisite clinical trials, which are described in this special issue. This article provides a brief overview of the scientific underpinnings for these trials; describes the broad themes connecting them; and discusses the intersections of the JCOIN initiative with the COVID-19 pandemic.
