Social communication deficits associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are commonly represented as a single behavioral domain. However, increased precision of measurement of social communication is needed to promote more nuanced phenotyping, both within the autism spectrum and across diagnostic boundaries.

A large sample (N= 1,470) of 4- to 10-year-old children was aggregated from across 4 data sources, and then randomly split into testing and validation samples. A total of 57 selected social communication items from 3 widely used autism symptom measures (the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale [ADOS], Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised [ADI-R], and Social Responsiveness Scale [SRS]) were analyzed in the multi-trait/multi-method factor analysis framework. The selected model was then confirmed with the validation sample.

The 4-substantive factor model, with 3 orthogonal method factors, was selected using the testing sample based on fit indices and then confirmed with the validation sample. In experiment 5, FD24 birds ICV injected with l-NAME (NO synthesis inhibitor, 100 nmol), MET (75 μg) and co-injection of l-NAME + MET. Experiment 6 was similar to experiment 5, except, ad libitum birds received injections. In experiment 7, FD24 chicken i.p. injected with l-NAME (100 mg/kg), MET (75 mg/kg) and co-injection of l-NAME + MET. In experiment 8, FD24 birds ICV injected with RO5256390 (selective TAAR1 agonist, 10, 20 and 40 μg). In exp24 and ad libitum chicken (P less then 0.05). RO5256390 decreased food intake in FD24 chicken (P less then 0.05). Co-injection of the RO5256390 + MET amplified MET-induced hypophagia in FD24 chicken (P less then 0.05). Based on the findings, MET-induced hypophagia is mediated via NO and TAAR1 pathways on food intake in layer chicken.Previous work has shown that autonomic responses to choice feedback can predict subsequent decision-making. In this study, we tested whether skin conductance responses (SCRs) and heart rate (HR) decelerations following the presentation of choice outcomes predict Iowa Gambling Task performance in nonclinical participants (n = 64). We also examined how these signals related to parameters of a reinforcement-learning (RL) model. Feedback SCRs and HR decelerations were greater following outcomes that included losses and choices from the bad decks defined by their negative expected value. In addition, SCRs predicted task performance. A hierarchical Bayesian RL model indicated that greater feedback SCR for the bad decks compared to good decks was associated with stronger loss aversion and a lower learning rate, both of which predicted higher performance. These results suggest that feedback-related SCRs are linked to individual differences in outcome evaluation and learning processes that guide reinforcement-learning.Harsh parenting is a significant predictor of youth aggression and delinquency. However, not every child exposed to adverse parenting develops such problem behaviors. Recent developmental evolutionary models suggest that variability in stress response reactivity to parenting, reflected by autonomic nervous system (ANS) functioning, may affect the impact of adverse parenting on youth behavioral adjustment. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the parasympathetic and sympathetic branches of the ANS moderate the association between parenting and aggressive and delinquent behaviors. The study sample included low-income, ethnically diverse preadolescents (M = 10.28 years old; N = 101) and their caregivers. Administered sedatives and analgesics have respiratory depressant side effects and require close monitoring. We investigated the feasibility and accuracy of additional, continuous transcutaneous carbon-dioxide partial pressure (tpCO
) measurement during conscious sedation in complex electrophysiological catheter ablation procedures.

We evaluated the accuracy and additional value of continuous tpCO
detection by application of a Severinghaus electrode in comparison to arterial and venous blood gas analyses.

We included 110 patients in this prospective observational study. Arterial pCO
(paCO
) and tpCO
showed good correlation throughout the procedures (r = 0.60-0.87, p < 0.005). Venous pCO
(pvCO
) were also well correlated to transcutaneous values (r = 0.65-0.85, p < 0.0001). Analyses of the difference of pvCO
and tpCO
measurements showed a tolerance within <10 mmHg in up to 96-98% of patients.
