The conclusions show that the crisis of the pandemic has accelerated the transformation of the communication sector, creating new challenges for the communication industry, media professionals, and higher education institutions related to market demands. In this study, we explore the diagnostic accuracy of a Radiographic-based Periodontal Bone Loss (R-PBL) method as a screening tool for periodontitis, in the form of radiographic bone loss, under the 2018 case definition in comparison to the 2012 case definition. The analysis was based on 456 patients (253 females and 203 males), screened for periodontal status in the Study of Periodontal Health in Almada-Seixal (SoPHiAS) project and subjected to a panoramic dental X-ray. Patients were diagnosed for the presence of periodontitis following the 2018 and 2012 case definition. R-PBL classification was defined by alveolar bone loss and diagnosed as no periodontitis (≥80% remaining alveolar bone), mild to moderate periodontitis (66% to 79%), or severe periodontitis ( less then 66%). We appraise the X-ray quality to look for the influence on the performance of R-PBL. Sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and precision, through several indicators, were determined. Performance measurement was assessed through binary and multiclass Receiver operating characteristic/are under the curve (ROC/AUC) analyses. Our results show that the tested R-PBL method under the 2018 case definition is a reliable tool in periodontitis cases screening. This method does not replace clinical periodontal evaluation, but rather, it screens patients towards a definitive periodontitis diagnosis. These results will contribute to support the development of automated prediction systems towards periodontitis surveillance.Accurate attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) play an essential role in navigation applications and human body tracking systems. Using low-cost microelectromechanical system (MEMS) inertial sensors and having accurate orientation estimation, simultaneously, needs optimum orientation methods and algorithms. The error of attitude estimation may lead to imprecise navigation and motion capture results. This paper proposed a novel intermittent calibration technique for MEMS-based AHRS using error prediction and compensation filter. The method, inspired from the recognition of gyroscope's error and by a proportional integral (PI) controller, can be regulated to increase the accuracy of the prediction. The experimentation of this study for the AHRS algorithm, aided by the proposed prediction filter, was tested with real low-cost MEMS sensors consists of accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. Eventually, the error compensation was performed by post-processing the measurements of static and dynamic tests. The experimental results present about 35% accuracy improvement in attitude estimation and demonstrate the explicit performance of proposed method.Bleeding complications are common in patients treated with antiplatelet agents (APA), but their management relies on poor evidence. BIBR1532 Therefore, practical guidelines and guidance documents are mainly based on expert opinion. The French Working Group on Perioperative Haemostasis provided proposals in 2018 to enhance clinical decisions regarding the management of APA-treated patients with a bleeding event. In light of these proposals, this review discusses the evidence and uncertainties of the management of patients with a bleeding event while on antiplatelet therapy. Platelet transfusion is the main option as an attempt to neutralise the effect of APA on primary haemostasis. Nevertheless, efficacy of platelet transfusion to mitigate clinical consequences of bleeding in patients treated with APA depends on the type of antiplatelet therapy, the time from the last intake, the mechanism (spontaneous versus traumatic) and site of bleeding and the criteria of efficacy (in vitro, in vivo). Specific antidotes for APA neutralisation are needed, especially for ticagrelor, but are not available yet. Despite the amount of information that platelet function tests are expected to give, little data support the clinical benefit of using such tests for the management of bleeding events in patients treated or potentially treated with APA.A simple and efficient microwave (MW)-assisted method was elaborated for the catalyst-free synthesis of isoindolin-1-one-3-phosphonates by the three-component condensation of 2-formylbenzoic acid, aliphatic primary amines and various dialkyl phosphites. The batch and the continuous flow reactions were optimized in respect of the temperature, the reaction time and the molar ratio of the starting materials. To evaluate the potential of MW irradiation, comparative thermal experiments were also carried out. In order to obtain "real time" information about the condensation, the special Kabachnik-Fields reaction of 2-formylbenzoic acid, butylamine and diethyl phosphite was monitored by in situ FT-IR spectroscopy. The novel title compounds could be prepared in high yields at low temperature under a short reaction time. A suitable method could also be developed for the preparation of the isoindolin-1-one-3-phosphonates at a "few g" scale by using a continuous flow MW reactor.Corn has shown different degrees of positive response to inoculation with the nitrogen- fixing bacteria of the genera Azospirillum. Part of it has been attributed to the plant genotypic variation, including the root exudates, that are used by the bacteria as energy source. In this study, we grew two corn hybrids that differ for their response to Azospirillum, to investigate the effect of different exudates profiles on the bacteria growth and nitrogenase activity. Employing high performance liquid chromatography, we identified nine amino acids (asparagine, aspartic acid, serine, glutamic acid, valine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and alanine), six sugars (glucose, sucrose, xylose, arabinose, fructose and galactose) and four organic acids (citrate, malate, succinate and fumarate). The less responsive corn genotype showed reduced plant growth (root volume, shoot dry mass and shoot N content), a lower concentration of Azospirillum cells within the root tissues, a higher content of asparagine and glucose and a reduced amount of metabolites that serve as bacterial energy source (all organic acids + five sugars, excluding glucose).
