Types of Chromatography (with small definitions):
Paper Chromatography:
Separates components using paper as the stationary phase and a liquid as the mobile phase.

Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC):
Uses a thin layer of silica or alumina on a plate to separate mixtures.

Gas Chromatography (GC):
Separates volatile compounds using a gas as the mobile phase and a column as the stationary phase.

Column Chromatography:
Separates compounds by passing a mixture through a column filled with stationary phase.

Applications:

Identifying drugs in forensics.
Checking food quality.
Monitoring pollutants in the environment.
Analyzing chemical purity in pharmaceuticals.





Column Chromatography: A technique used for separating mixtures based on differential interactions with a stationary phase. In this method, the sample is placed at the top of a column packed with a solid stationary phase (e.g., silica gel). A mobile phase (liquid or gas) is passed through the column, and different components of the mixture move at different rates, separating as they travel down the column.

Applications: Used in purifying compounds, isolating natural products, and in analytical chemistry for separating complex mixtures
