Nevertheless, several complications may occur, including nodule formation. A nodule is a clinical sign corresponding to different etiologies, such as overcorrection, infection, allergic reaction, or granuloma. However, their treatment represents a diagnostic challenge. We present a retrospective review of 26 consecutive patients who underwent a biopsy for facial nodule formation more than 3 months after filler injections, to determine the diagnosis of the nodule and type of filler used. All patients were women (mean age, 57.8 years). Some patients suffered from different localizations lip, 14 cases; nasolabial folds, 6; cheeks, 5; infraorbital region, 5; the glabella, 2; the temporal region, 1; and chin, 1 case. Only 5 (19.2%) patients knew the type of filler used, and in another 4 cases, the injector was able to provide some information. In 65.4% of cases, the filler type was unknown. Histopathological analysis revealed a "granulomatous" nodule in 30 sites and a "non-granulomatous" nodule in 4 cases. Concerning the type of filler, 5 different histopathological patterns were found. Our results demonstrate that a clinical history and histopathological analysis whether to confirm or not to confirm the diagnosis of granuloma and to identify the type of filler are essential tools to achieve an accurate diagnosis of the problem-oriented treatment of nodules after dermal filler injections. We propose an algorithm for the management of nodules after filler injection.
Pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) plays an integral part in the management of pancreatic, periampullary and duodenal cancers, along with a few other pathologies of this region. Despite advances in surgery PD continues to have significant morbidity and noteworthy mortality. The study population included patients who underwent PD between January 1, 2014 and march 31, 2019, at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center (SKMCH&RC) in Pakistan. The data was retrospectively analyzed from the Hospital Information System (HIS), which is a prospectively maintained patient electronic database of SKMCH&RC. Patient characteristics, procedural details and post-operative outcomes according to internationally accepted definitions were reported.

Brachytherapy (BT) is an essential component of definitive therapy for locally advanced cervical cancer. Despite the advantages of the dose distribution with BT in cervical cancer, there is paucity of specific skills required for good-quality BT applications. Furthermore, replacing BT with other modern external beam techniques as a boost can lead to suboptimal results in cervix cancer.

Image-guided adaptive brachytherapy (IGABT) recently has shown excellent clinical outcomes with superior local control and less toxicity. For IGABT, T2W (T2-weighted) MRI is the gold standard. However, studies have shown that target delineation with the same results in uncertainties, poor interobserver variabilities, and low conformity indices for high-risk clinical target volume contours. In this study, we investigate the role of diffusion-weighted imaging-derived apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps to aid in IGABT. We also evaluated ADC from the baseline to brachytherapy.

Thirty selected patients were enrolled for this study, and two MRIs were taken at diagnosis and before brachytherapy. Patients were divided into two groups, Group 1 being patients with parametrial involvement before external beam radiotherapy and no parametrial involvement before brachytherapy. Group 2 included patients with parametrial involvement before external beam radiotherapy and persistent parametrial involvement before brhould only be used as a supplement for target delineation.The American Brachytherapy Society brachytherapy schools have been pivotal in teaching and evolving the art of brachytherapy over the past decades. Celebrating 25 years in existence, this historical overview of the American Brachytherapy Society brachytherapy schools is a tribute to the many teachers who have shared their expertise, to the many students who have been enthusiastic and interactive participants, and the staff who have made it all possible, with the reward of perpetuating the important and timely art of brachytherapy.
