To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis using individual patient data to investigate the diagnostic performance of Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) Treatment Response (TR) algorithm for detecting incomplete necrosis on pathology.

PubMed and EMBASE were searched from Jan 1, 2017 until October 14, 2020. Studies reporting diagnostic accuracy of LI-RADS TR algorithm on CT or MRI for detecting incomplete necrosis on pathology as a reference standard were included. Sensitivity and specificity were pooled using random-effects model. Subgroup analyses were performed for locoregional treatment (LRT) type and imaging modality.

Six studies (393 patients, 534 lesions) were included. Pooled sensitivity was 0.56 (95% confidence interval [CI] 0.43-0.69) and specificity was 0.91 (95%CI 0.84-0.96). Pooled sensitivity was highest using arterial phase hyperenhancement (APHE) (0.67 [95%CI 0.51-0.81]), followed by washout (0.43 [95%CI 0.26-0.62]) and enhancement similar to pretreatment (0.24 [95%CI. The rotator cuff (RC) muscles contribute to dynamic stability and rotational actions of the glenohumeral joint. Moment arm can be used to demonstrate the potential work a muscle contributes to a musculoskeletal joint rotation. This study aimed to understand the moment arm contributions of the RC muscles and explore changes following a complete supraspinatus tear treated with either superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) or reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA).

Five fresh-frozen cadaveric specimens were prepared and mounted in an apparatus where each intact RC muscle was held in tension with a line of action toward its origin on the scapula. Mean moment arms for each muscle were determined experimentally based on Optotrak data collected during cadaveric shoulder arm abduction.

Using ANOVA testing, our analysis demonstrated significant differences (p < 0.001) in infraspinatus and teres minor moment arms after rTSA compared to the intact shoulder model. The use of vascular closure devices in patients receiving the Micra leadless pacemaker may shorten time to ambulation, facilitate same-day discharge, and reduce risk of venous thrombosis associated with manual hemostasis. We sought evaluate the feasibility of double Perclose ProGlide (Abbott, CA) preclosure for access site hemostasis after leadless pacemaker implant.

Patients with leadless pacemaker implant and double preclosure for access hemostasis from 2020 to 2021 were reviewed for complications requiring increase of flat time or transfusion, incidence of venous thromboembolism, and hemoglobin decrement. Two ProGlide devices were deployed with a double preclose technique after ultrasound guided wire access. Patients were instructed to lay flat for 2-4h and were allowed to ambulate after.

A total of 36 patients (age 74.5 ± 15.1years, BMI 27.9 ± 9.0kg/m
, 30% female gender) were included with 6 having prior venous thromboembolism, 21 with AF, and 15 with chronic kidney disease. At short-time cultivation in corn cob (12 h), Bacillus firmus K-1 produced cellulase-free xylanolytic enzyme, with xylooligosaccharides (XOSs), X5 and X6, as the main products, which can be used in a variety of applications. The xylanolytic enzyme produced from B. firmus K-1 effectively degraded xylan in corn cob, which was examined by chemical composition, scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). After cultivation, the xylan contained in the corn cob residue was decreased (as biological pretreatment), causing morphological and structural changes, including creating porosity and increasing the surface area and the exposure of cellulose of pretreated corn cob. These results lead to an improvement of cellulose access by cellulases. Commercially available cellulases, Accellerase® 1500 and Cellic® CTec2, yielded significantly higher glucose concentrations from pretreated corn cob compared to untreated corn cob. After saccharification, the lignin-rich corn cob residue can be used as a raw material for other purposes. Moreover, the B. firmus cells, with a low risk to human health, can be used in some applications. This study presents an efficient method for producing high-value-added products from agricultural residue (corn cob) through biological processes which are environmentally friendly and economically viable. KEY POINTS • High-value-added products were efficiently produced from corn cob by B. firmus K-1. • After biological pretreatment by B. firmus K-1, cellulase can better reach cellulose. • XOSs and cellulose-derived glucose were the main products from corn cob.
