RESULTS Postnatal administration of EB, T and E elevated serum E levels with decreased serum T levels in rats. Chronic inflammation was observed in the dorsolateral prostate. Significant changes in expression levels of several microRNAs (rno-miR-146-5p, rno-miR-329-3p, and rno-miR-126a-3p) in the dorsolateral prostate and of a microRNA (rno-miR-329-3p) in the plasma were found in the dosed rats. The target gene expression levels of the altered microRNAs also changed accordingly. CONCLUSION Chronic inflammation in the dorsolateral prostate of rats dosed with EB, T and E resulted in deregulated expression in a set of microRNAs whose target genes were related to tumor growth or abnormal proliferation. Our findings suggest the identified microRNAs and their target genes the potential use as biomarkers to predict prostate cancer development. Validation using human samples is warranted. OBJECTIVE To compare prosthetic use and outcomes of female and male Veterans with upper limb amputation. DESIGN Cross sectional survey Amputation characteristics, prosthesis use, and quality of life outcomes were compared by gender. Separate logistic regression models examined association of gender with prosthesis use and receipt of training to use a prosthesis. Separate linear regression models examined the relationship between gender and health related quality of life (HRQoL) outcomes. PARTICIPANTS Participants were Veterans with major upper limb amputation who received care at the VA in 2010-2015, identified from VA data sources. 808 individuals (755 men, 21 women) were surveyed by telephone. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES QuickDASH, VR-12 PCS and VR-12 MCS, Trinity Amputation and Prosthetic Experience Scale satisfaction scale OPUS Client satisfaction with devices scale. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fourteen patients (34 implants) with severely atrophied anterior maxillary alveolar ridges underwent rehabilitation using custom-made CAD/CAM PEEK sheets acting as a containment system for interpositional mix of particulate autogenous and xenogeneic bone graft, fixed by mono-cortical screws. Radiographic Assessment included measurements of linear changes in the vertical and horizontal dimensions on cross-sectional cuts of computed tomography (CBCT) using special software. RESULTS Wound healing was uneventful for all the patients except one patient that showed wound break down 2 weeks postoperatively, which did not affect the outcome of the procedure. CBCT scans were interpreted to compare the quantity of both vertical and horizontal bone preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively. Statistical analyses demonstrated a significant difference between the results of both time intervals, with a mean vertical and horizontal bone gain was 3.47 mm(±1.46) and 3.42 (±1.1) with a P-value of (.0001). The customized sheets were removed 6 months postoperative with the successful placement of dental implants. CONCLUSION The virtual planning of three-dimensional maxillary alveolar ridge augmentation utilizing patient-specific PEEK sheets deemed successful to restore the deficient ridge and to accommodate suitable size dental implants. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Although numerous glycosylation methods have been developed for the construction of glycosidic bonds, the pace of discovering rapid assembly strategies to access complex glycosidic linkages never stops. Over the last several years, we have introduced interrupted Pummerer reaction into carbohydrate chemistry and developed two pairs of latent/active glycosyl donors, OPTB/OPSB and SPTB/SPSB glycosides. After thorough investigation of the reaction mechanism and establishment of the substrate scopes, the extension of these novel glycosylation methods to synthesize naturally occurring biological active glycoconjugates was further illustrated. In this account, the development and especially the application of IPRm glycosylation in the synthesis of phenylethanoids and resin glycosides were introduced. © 2020 The Chemical Society of Japan & Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. OBJECTIVES This study examined the cross-lagged associations between behaviour problems, body mass index (BMI) and obesity in preschoolers, and whether sex modified these associations. METHODS Repeated measures of teacher-reported externalizing (EXT) and internalizing behaviour problems (clinically significant T scores were >90th percentile), BMI z-scores (BMI-Z) and obesity status (BMI ≥95th for age and sex) were assessed in the fall (T1) and spring (T2) of the school year in Head Start preschoolers (N = 423). Associations were examined with cross-lagged modelling. RESULTS Prospective paths from T1 clinically significant EXT to both T2 BMI-Z (β = .05) and obesity (β = .18) were significant. There was no evidence that T1 BMI-Z or obesity preceded T2 behaviour problems. However, sex-specific models indicated that T1 BMI-Z was prospectively associated with higher T2 EXT for boys (β = .13), but not girls. T1 EXT was predictive of subsequent BMI-Z (β = .09) and obesity (β = .33) at T2 for girls only. CONCLUSION Findings suggest that behaviour problems, particularly externalizing behaviours, are prospectively related to childhood obesity, and early prevention methods should reflect sex-specific modifications.
