14 V and - 0.53 V versus the Ag/AgCl reference electrode, respectively. Under the optimal conditions, the detection limits of mecA gene and nuc gene were 3.7 fM and 1.6 fM, respectively. Combining the effective application of MOFs and the homogeneous detection strategy, the sensor exhibited satisfactory performance for MRSA identification in real samples. The recovery was 92.6-103%, and the relative standard deviation was less than 5%. Besides, MRSA and SA can also be distinguished. This sensor has great potential in practical applications.
Several surgical procedures are available for the treatment of severe blepharoptosis with poor levator function. However, the procedures have advantages and disadvantages. Particularly, complications such as lagophthalmos and lid lag are commonly observed after conventional interventions. selleck products Thus, the present study aimed to introduce a surgical technique that uses an orbital septum flap without the orbital oculi muscle for the correction of severe blepharoptosis.
The technique utilizes the orbital septum flap, which is connected with the frontalis muscle via the galea aponeurosis and frontal periosteum, to suspend the tarsal plate. In this case series, the technique was used for the correction of blepharoptosis in 16 eyes from 12 patients.
The margin reflex distance in all patients improved at 6 months after surgery. Two patients presented with lagophthalmos and three with mild recurrence. However, revision surgery was not required, and none of patients presented with lid lag.
For the correction of blepharoptosis, the use of the orbital septum flap without the orbital oculi muscle can be easily selected compared with other conventional methods that are more likely to cause overcorrection and closure disorders.

This has encouraged the present study based on the design of experiments to optimize the two operating factors the bio coagulant dosage and initial pH. The effect of these considered factors on turbidity and chemical oxygen demand (COD) reduction performances was investigated to treat sewage wastewater from plants by the coagulation/flocculation process using the response surface methodology (RSM) based on a central composite faced design (CCFD). The effect of the pH on the supernatant turbidity removal and the COD reduction was very significant whereas that of the coagulant dosage was insignificant on the COD removal efficiency. Experimental results revealed that the maximum reduction of turbidity and COD could be reached at a coagulant dosage of 28 mg/l and a pH of 12. At these optimal conditions, the removal efficiency of turbidity and COD was 98.33% and 96.55% respectively. By the end of the treatment, final values of 0.84 NTU and 20.8 mg/l were obtained for turbidity and COD, respectively. A notable decrease of orthophosphate (O- PO4-2), nitrite (N-NO3-), ammonium (N-NH4+) and suspended matter (SM) was observed. The study also showed that the quadratic regression model could be used as a theoretical basis for the process based on a high coefficient of determination R2 value > 0.96, obtained from the analysis of variances (ANOVA).Who worries first about an invasive alien species scientists or the general public, or do both become concerned simultaneously? Taking thirteen invasive alien species in the Netherlands, this article reconstructs the development of their public and scientific salience the attention they attracted and the knowledge about them. Salience was assessed from the number of publications from 1997 onwards in the LexisNexis newspaper database and Scopus scientific database. Three trajectories were derived for a species to move from being a latent problem with low salience toward a manifest status with high public and scientific salience. In the most common trajectory, scientific salience increased first, followed by an increase in public salience. We probed the merit of this concept of trajectories by examining the action undertaken for a representative species of the trajectories. We assigned each of these three species a code for inertia and inaction based on the content of a hundred newspaper articles and all available government documents. Knowing the scientific and public salience of these species clarifies why the actions to deal with them differed even though from an ecological perspective they warranted similar attention. The typology of public and scientific salience and the problem trajectories developed in this article together offer a structured approach for understanding an invasive alien species and provide pointers for engaging a community in managing that species.
An increasing number of people with dementia (PwD) are being hospitalized due to acute conditions. The surrounding conditions and procedures in acute hospitals are not oriented to the special needs of this vulnerable patient group. The behavior of PwD poses particular challenges and burdens for nursing staff.
The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a2-day dementia training program with aself-reflection component compared to astandard 1.5‑h training of nursing staff caring for PwD in acute hospitals.
Anonrandomized pretest-posttest study with acontrol group was conducted in three German acute hospitals. Through aquestionnaire, nursing staff caring for PwD were examined for potential changes in attitude, strain and confidence levels. The intervention group (n = 32) received a2-day training program, "EduKation demenz® Nursing", the control group (n = 36) participated in ashort,1.5‑h dementia training.
Compared to the control group, the intervention group demonstrated statistically significant improvement in perceived strain (p = 0.
