DC-Bias-Superposition Traits associated with Ni0.4Zn0.2Mn0.4Fe2O4 Nanopowders Produced simply by Auto-Combustion.
During a subsequent smaller flow event, the floodplain either generated no further carbon or nutrients, or was a sink for carbon and nutrients. Our results provide empirical support for the River Wave Concept and show that allowing floodplain water to return to the river downstream of forests is important for maintaining ecological function within the river channel. Currently, the majority of wastewater with a high concentration of ammonia nitrogen (NH4+/NH3) is treated using biological methods, which have poor biodegradability and low removal efficiency. In this paper, a composite photocatalyst of copper phosphotungstate/titanium dioxide (Cu-H3PW12O40/TiO2) was prepared by sol-gel hydrothermal synthesis, and the composite catalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis-diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-VIS-DRS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)、scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The photocatalytic oxidation of a high-concentration NH4+/NH3 solution was carried out under ultraviolet (UV) light to explore the effects of different influencing factors on the photocatalytic effect and to optimize the reaction conditions. The prepared composite catalyst exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than that of TiO2. When the initial concentration of the solution was 300 mg·L-1, the initial pH was 11, the catalyst concentration was 1.5 g·L-1, the loading level of Cu-H3PW12O40 was 40%, and the aeration rate was 1.5 L·min-1, the removal rate of NH4+/NH3 by the composite photocatalyst could reach >80%. Very little NO2- and NO3- were produced, and N2 was the main product. This review aims to provide an overview of studies on pesticide residues in breast milk in China and the related health risk to mother and infants. Results showed that the investigations of breast milk covered 22 provincial administrative regions of China. Beijing and some densely populated and economically developed areas have most publications. The study frequency was followed the order of DDTs>HCHs>HCB > ∑Drins,∑Chlordane. While the residue levels were ranked as DDTs, HCHs > ∑Drins>HCB > ∑Chlordane. The highest residue levels of DDTs and HCHs in breast milk were found in 1980s (~10,000 ng/g lipid), then experienced a sharp decrease in 1990s (~1000-2000 ng/g lipid). In 2000s and 2010s, DDTs, and HCHs residue still showed a decreasing trend. Spatially, people located in urban area, coastal areas and southern China tend to have higher pesticide residues as compared to rural area, inland area and northern China, respectively. Other factors such as dietary habit, living environment, the maternal age, the parity, body mass index, lactation period, menstruation characteristics as well as hormonal drug intake and infertility treatment will also affect the pesticide residues in breast milk of Chinese people. According to the estimated daily ingestion (EDI) of breast milk, the average health risk for infants were generally exceeded the acceptable level before 2006, while after that, most EDI values were within the standard. Body burden of pesticides in mother can also be evaluated by using the residue data in breast milk, but no relevant guidelines were available. Other knowledge gap included 1) for some provinces with large consumption of pesticides or located in remote and plateau areas, there are few/no studies available; 2) current study on pesticide residues in breast milk in China were only focused on organochlorine pesticides, research on current used pesticides (such as pyrethroids, organophosphorus, carbamate) were necessary in the future. Few studies have focused on the impact of particulate matter (PM) exposure with respect to the relationship between PM-induced inflammation and the levels of trace metals in tissues and organs. In this study, C57BL/6 male mice were exposed to ambient air alongside control mice breathing air filtered through a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter. In both groups, mRNA levels of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines were measured after 4, 8 and 12 weeks together with the trace metal contents of the lungs, heart, liver, hippocampus and blood. PM exposure resulted in a general upward trend in the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in lung, heart, liver and hippocampus. By contrast, IL-10 mRNA expression varied depending on the organ, with a continuous upward trend in heart and liver and an up-regulation at 8 weeks followed by a down-regulation at 12 weeks in lung and hippocampus. The disturbed homeostasis of inflammatory cytokines was accompanied by changes in trace metal levels in the mice. These alterations may have constituted a compensatory effect conferring protection from inflammatory damage. However, prolonged PM exposure finally resulted in the deficiency of several essential trace metals in the lungs and hippocampus, which may have contributed to the observed histological changes typical of an inflammatory response. Nutrient removal by a 4.6-ha urban stormwater treatment wetland system in a 20-ha water/nature park in southwest Florida has been investigated for several years, suggesting that the wetlands are significant sinks of both phosphorus and nitrogen although with a slightly decreased total phosphorus retention in recent years. MG-101 mouse This study investigates the role of sedimentation on changes in nutrient concentrations and fluxes through these wetlands. Sedimentation bottles along with sediment nutrient analyses every six months allowed us to estimate gross sedimentation rates of 9.9 ± 0.1 cm yr-1 and nutrient sedimentation rates of approximately 7.8 g-P m-2 yr-1 and 81.7 g-N m-2 yr-1. Using a horizon marker method to account for lack of resuspension in the sedimentation bottles suggested that net nutrient retention by sedimentation may be closer to 1.5 g-P m-2 yr-1 and 33.2 g-N m-2 yr-1. Annual nutrient retention of the wetland system determined from water quality measurements at the inflow and outflow averaged 4.23 g-P m-2 yr-1 and 11.91 g-N m-2 yr-1, suggesting that sedimentation is a significant pathway for nutrient retention in these urban wetlands and that resuspension is playing a significant role in reintroducing nutrients, especially phosphorus, to the water column. These results also suggest that additional sources of nitrogen not in our current nutrient budgets may be affecting overall nutrient retention.
