The detection of lesions during small bowel (SB) capsule endoscopy (CE) depends on the cleanliness of the intestine. Quality reporting and comparison of different preparation methods require reliable scores. Three scores known as quantitative index (QI), qualitative evaluation (QE), and overall adequacy assessment (OAA), have been proposed to assess SB cleanliness, and are sometimes used in clinical practice and in clinical trials. However, none of these scores has received any external validation. The aim of our study was to re-assess the reproducibility of these three specific scores.
One-hundred-and-fifty-five complete third-generation SB-CE video recordings were extracted from a multicenter randomized controlled trial (PREPINTEST) which evaluated three modalities of SB preparation for CE. Three experts independently read the 155 SB-CE video recordings twice, in a random order, over 48 -h periods at 6-week intervals, using the QI, QE and OAA scores. Cohen's linearly weighted kappa coefficients were calculated to assess intra-observer and inter-observer agreements.
Intra-observer reproducibility was fair to moderate, with kappa coefficients between 0.37 and 0.46 for QI, 0.41 and 0.51 for QE, 0.41 and 0.50 for OAA. Inter-observer reproducibility was fair to substantial according to kappa coefficients between experts varying from 0.40 to 0.64, 0.29 to 0.65, and 0.52 to 0.71, for QI, QE and OAA, respectively.
QI, QE and OAA scores, currently used for evaluation of the quality of the preparation of SB-CE, are not sufficiently reproducible. Other scores or methods are therefore needed for SB-CE cleanliness assessment.

Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) and trinucleotide repeat-containing 9 (TRNC9) gene polymorphisms have been associated with some cancers. We aimed to assess the association of FGFR2 rs2981582 and TRNC9 rs12443621 polymorphisms with hepatocellular cancer risk.
One hundred patients with HCV-induced HCC, 100 patients with chronic HCV infection, and 100 controls were genotyped for FGFR2 rs2981582 and TNRC9 rs12443621 using allele-specific Real-Time PCR analysis.
FGFR2 rs2981582 genotype TT was associated with increased risk of HCC when compared to controls (OR = 3.09, 95% CI = 1.24-7.68). However, it was significantly associated with a lower risk of HCC when using HCV patients as controls (OR = 0.21, 95% CI = 0.09-0.5), and T-allele of FGFR2 appears to be a protective allele against HCC in HCV patients (OR = 0.42, 95% CI = 0.21-0.85). While AG and GG genotypes of TNRC9 rs12443621 were linked with significantly increased risk of HCC (OR = 3.91, 95% CI = 2.02-7.6 and OR = 9.26, 95% CI = 3.21-26.7 respectively) and HCV patients carrying G allele were at increased risk of HCC by 2.7-fold. A significant high frequency of small tumor size and early-stage of HCC were observed in patients carrying FGFR2 rs2981582 genotype CT and TT (P = 0.029 and <0.001 respectively), while, TNRC9 rs12443621 genotype AG and GG were associated large tumor size and late-stage of HCC (P < 0.001 and 0.015 respectively).
SNPs in rs2981582 for FGFR2 and rs12443621 for TNRC9 gene were associated with HCC susceptibility, suggesting their implication in hepatocarcinogenesis in chronically HCV-infected patients.

Total expressible fluid (TEF) of RFRS batter reached its minimum value at 200 MPa. The results of Raman spectra revealed that α-helix reached its random coils increased as the pressure level was increased, and pressure up to 200 MPa remarkably increased protein unfolding but 400 MPa increased aggregation. Finally, Raman spectra and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed that 200 MPa significantly increased tryptophan, tyrosine doublet, CH3 and/or CH stretching and proton intensities related to water and fats; but decreased β structures, SS stretching (475) and (g-g-t or t-g-t, 540), as compared with the control. RFRS batter treated at 200 MPa is beneficial for the meat industry from the technological point of view and for consumers from the health point of view, as the improved emulsion stability contributed by the modified secondary and tertiary structures.Traumatic brain injuries are common among refugees and asylum-seekers and can result from a range of etiologies, including intimate partner violence, gang violence, war-related trauma, and torture. Regardless of the cause, these injuries often result in a host of neuropsychiatric and other symptoms that may complicate individuals' subsequent health outcomes. For asylum-seekers, documenting prior head trauma is essential to the legal process, since traumatic brain injuries and their subsequent effects on memory and cognition may affect the ability to provide thorough testimony. Using three case vignettes, we explore how to approach the forensic evaluation of asylum-seekers with a history of traumatic brain injury, illustrating the range of etiologies and sequelae of traumatic brain injury in this complex population.Unknown chromatographic peaks, potential impurities, were observed in a series of related compounds. This led to the identification and characterization of tautomeric equilibria. Structural elucidation was required to understand the potential impurity profile, thus impacting method development for quality control. In this work, characterization of the chemical structures, AZ13581258 and AZD5718, and equilibria of the tautomeric forms was performed using a range of advanced analytical techniques such as preparative chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), chromatographic detection by mass spectrometry (MS), MSMS, and ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV). Predictions using density functional theory (DFT) further explains and confirms the tautomer equilibria through predictions of reaction barrier energies, UV-spectra and NMR data. These investigations led to fully understand the impurity profile and to the development of a quality control method for AZD5718 drug substance and drug product. In conclusion, ring-chain tautomeric structures are predominately formed under acidic conditions, and the additional peaks observed in LC during organic impurity determination were found to originate from ring-chain closed tautomers in equilibria with the parent open form compound.
