Today, membrane technologies play a big role in chemical industry, especially in separation engineering. Tannic acid, one of the most famous polyphenols, has attracted widespread interest in membrane society. In the past several years, researches on the applications of tannic acid in membrane technologies have grown rapidly. However, there has been lack of a comprehensive review for now. Here, we summarize the recent developments in this field for the first time. We comb the history of tannic acid and introduce the properties of tannic acid firstly, and then we turn our focus onto the applications of membrane surface modification, interlayers and selective layers construction and mixed matrix membrane development. In those previous works, tannic acid has been demonstrated to be capable of making a great contribution to the membrane science and technology. Especially in membrane surface/interface engineering (such as the construction of superhydrophilic and antifouling surfaces and polymer/nanoparticle interfaces with high compatibility) and development of thin film composite membranes with high permselectivity (such as developing thin film composite membranes with ultrahigh flux and high rejection), tannic acid can play a positive and great role. Despite this, there are still many critical challenges lying ahead. We believe that more exciting progress will be made in addressing these challenges in the future.Recently, antibiotic resistance of pathogens has grown given the excessive and inappropriate usage of common antimicrobial agents. Hence, producing novel antimicrobial compounds is a necessity. Carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) such as carbon nanotubes, graphene/graphene oxide, and fullerenes, as an emerging class of novel materials, can exhibit a considerable antimicrobial activity, especially in the nanocomposite forms suitable for different fields including biomedical and food applications. The most important factor affecting the antimicrobial activity of CNMs is their size. Smaller particles with a higher surface to volume ratio can easily attach onto the microbial cells and affect their cell membrane integrity, metabolic procedures, and structural components. As these unique characteristics are found in CNMs, a wide range of possibilities have raised in terms of antimicrobial applications. This cross-sectional study examined the frequency of different forms of bullying victimization (verbal, physical, and social), predictors of victimization, and whether bullying is reported to an adult.

The study utilized a community sample of 150 Arab American adolescents, age 12 to 16years. The Adolescent Peer Relations Instrument-Victimization Scale was used to determine the participant's experiences of victimization in the past year. The adolescents indicated where bullying occurred, why, and whether they reported the incidence to an adult.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of a simulation-learning based training using a train-the-trainer model on the acquisition and retention of knowledge about infant safe sleep practices among nursing staff employed at a women's and children's hospital.

This was a two-phase, quasi-experimental study with repeated measure in a women's and children's hospital in Southwest XXXX. A total of 120 nurses completed phase I of the study, while 74 completed phase II. Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory and Observational Experiential Theory were used to guide the development of the methods and research question.

The purpose of this mixed methods study was to better understand the long term impact of living-related liver donation (LRLD) on youth and young adult (YYA) recipients and their family.

Semistructured interviews were conducted with YYA, aged 11-18years, who received a living donation from a parent. Interviews were audiotaped, transcribed, and analyzed to aggregate themes that represented the participants' views as live-liver recipients. An ethnographic process was conducted to understand the participants' social behavior. At interview, participants completed a demographics questionnaire and the Youth Quality of Life Instrument-Research Version (YQOL-R).

Thirteen adolescents were interviewed; six were re-interviewed as key informants. Three major categories were created from the data Developing Identity, Redefining Family Relationships, Feeling Gratitude to Donors. The overarching theme was Resiliency. Findings from the YQOL-R showed no difference in overall scores or separate domains when compared with a reference population with no chronic illness.
