Furthermore, the inner mechanism for the increase of TPA cross section is revealed, the responsive mechanisms for photo induced electron transfer (PET) and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) processes are revealed through analyzing the energies and distributions of frontier orbitals. Our calculations provide theoretical perspectives for experimental measurements and could sever as a useful reference for developing advanced probes in biomedical fields.Histamine is one of the important biomarkers for food spoilage in the food sectors. In the present study, a rapid and simple analytical tool has been developed to detect histamine as an indirect strategy to monitor food freshness level. Optical histamine sensor with carboxyl-substituted Schiff base zinc(II) complex with hydroxypropoxy side chain deposited onto titanium dioxide nanoparticles was fabricated and was found to respond successfully to histamine. The Schiff base zinc(II) complex-histamine binding generated an enhancement of the fluorescent signal. Under the optimal reaction condition, the developed sensor can detect down to 2.53 × 10-10 M in the range of between 1.0 × 10-9 and 1.0 × 10-5 M (R2 = 0.9868). Selectivity performance of the sensor towards histamine over other amines was confirmed. The sensor also displayed good reproducibility performances with low relative standard deviation values (1.45%-4.95%). Shelf-life studies suggested that the developed sensor remains stable after 60 days in histamine detection. More importantly, the proposed sensor has been successfully applied to determine histamine in salmon fillet with good recoveries. This strategy has a promising potential in the food quality assurance sectors, especially in controlling the food safety for healthy consumption among consumers.A rhinoplasty technique involving lower lateral cartilage (LLC) repositioning and grafting of ear cartilage allows for nasal lengthening and nasal tip mobility. For better esthetic outcomes in patients with cleft lip nasal deformity (CLND), we combined cosmetic nasal tip plasty with standard techniques. We performed open rhinoplasty combined with reverse-U incision and V-Y plasty in 62 patients with secondary unilateral CLND from October 2013 to June 2018. Both LLCs were isolated, repositioned, approximated medially, and advanced with a Medpor strut, followed by tip suture technique. To further project and enhance the nasal tip and columella, application of ear cartilage onlay graft was used. As adjunctive procedures, septoplasty or osteotomy was carried out for correction of septal or nasal bone deviations, respectively. Photogrammetric evaluations of patients and statistical analyses were performed. Average age at operation was 23.5 years (range 18-42 years). Of the 62 patients, 15 underwent dorsal augmentation with silicone implant. Pilaralisib datasheet Two-layer conchal cartilage onlay grafting was performed to manage tip height. Outcomes in 34 patients were analyzed with pre- and postoperative photography. Nasal tip projection increased, alar base width index decreased, and alar and columellar symmetry significantly improved. No Medpor implant exposure or other adverse outcomes occurred. The proposed technique is effective for correcting secondary unilateral CLND and achieving a satisfying nasal appearance in adults.
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) diseases are highly prevalent in China. However, no commercialized custom-made prostheses are available now. This study introduces a three-dimensionally (3D) printed customized total TMJ prosthesis manufactured by a standardized workflow.
Consecutive patients with end-stage TMJ diseases were recruited from Jan 2018 to Sep 2018. The computed tomography (CT) data for patients were obtained and transformed into the Mimics 18.0 software preoperatively for designing of prostheses and digital templates. 3D printing, friction spot welding and computer-assisted manufacture (CAM) were used to fabricate different components of the prosthesis. The clinical and radiographic evaluations were performed postoperatively.
A series of 9 patients were included. All the prostheses were placed smoothly and fixed stably during surgical procedure. Without severe postoperative complications, all patients exhibited significant improvements in maximum mouth opening, pain, diet, and mandibular function, with good facial symmetry. For the whole prosthesis, the average mean deviation was 0.432 mm (range from 0.279 to 0.561 mm).
This study suggests that Chinese customized 3D-printed total TMJ prostheses produces excellent short-term clinical outcomes, with high accuracy in implantation.

Several injectable hyaluronic acid dermal fillers exist in the market, each with different rheologic and cross-linking properties. Their reversibility is useful for managing complications. We sought to determine the response of three different hyaluronic acid gels to varying doses of hyaluronidase.
Each of 18 arms of nine subjects were prospectively randomized to receive intradermal injections of hyaluronic acid gel (Restylane-L, Juvéderm Ultra, Juvéderm Voluma). Seven sites on each arm were randomized to receive 0.2 mL of hyaluronic acid gel in anticipation of dissolution 1 week later with varying doses of hyaluronidase (Hylenex), 2.5, 5, 10, or 20 units or to be a control site. The outcome measures of diameter, elevation, and firmness were measured pre-injection and at varying time points to beyond 4 years. Subjects, graders, and injectors were masked.
The most dramatic changes for all fillers occurred starting at the 30-min time point through 3 h time point, with continued gradual degradation through week 2. A mild dose response was found for Juvéderm and Restylane; however, a clear dose response was seen from 2.5 to 10 units for Voluma, with 2.5 units showing features more like those of saline only or no hyaluronidase control. One Restylane arm had controls lasting four years.
All fillers had a dose response, with Voluma exhibiting it most clearly. Voluma required higher doses of hyaluronidase for dissolution, i.e., more than 20 units per 0.2 mL of filler. Restylane appeared to respond most readily to hyaluronidase, at the dose of even 2.5 units, but it also was fastest to dissolve on its own.
