Are You In Search Of Inspiration? Check Out Category A1 Rules
Category A1 Rules For Motorcyclists

Category a1 rules are for those who wish to drive small motorbikes. These motorcycles have cylinder capacity of up to 35 kW. They cannot be derived directly from vehicles with more than double their power.

Open category drone operations are divided into three subcategories: A1 to A3. You can fly drones that have the class label C0 or the A1 in the subcategory A1 (flying over people) up to January 2024.

A1

Category A1 is the first of three drone categories regulated by EASA. It is available to aircrafts up to a maximum takeoff weight (MTOM), which is 25 kilograms. It requires a flight plan and an account of flight along with an identification system for remotes and a geoawareness system. The drone must remain in the sight of the pilot. It is not permitted to fly over large groups of people or in areas that are utilized for industrial, commercial or recreation reasons. The drone must remain below 120 meters.

If you want to fly drones that aren't included in the categories above You must obtain an additional licence from the Civil Aviation Authority. This is referred to as an operational authorisation. Here you can find out more about how to apply.

Applicants for an A1 licence must have at minimum 16 years of riding two-wheeled motor vehicles. They must also have completed the compulsory basic training and passed both a theory and a practical test. They must also have an authentic medical certificate.

A1 license holders can ride two-wheeled mopeds so long as their cylinder capacity is no more than 125 cc and their power-to-weight ratio is no more than 0.1 kg/kW. They are also able to drive motorcycles with the maximum capacity of 125 cc as well as trikes, quad bikes and quad-bikes.

The category A1 licence is designed to make it easier for drivers to move up to the next vehicle category. This allows drivers to drive vehicles that have an maximum mass of 35 kW. This lets you get experience driving less powerful vehicles prior to moving up to higher licence categories.

Drones currently in use but do not have the CE mark can be flown under subcategory "A1" until January 1 2024. They are not at risk and pose no significant danger to the general public. However, they must remain at 150 meters from buildings or areas of industry, and also from recreational areas. They are also not allowed to fly over crowds or within 5 kilometers of airports or airfields.

A2

You could be eligible to apply for an A1 motorcycle license If you have completed your CBT and are interested in obtaining a motorcycle license. This permits you to ride an unrestricted motorcycle with no sidecar. The vehicle must have the capacity of 125cc, and the maximum power output of 11 kW. You must also be 16 years old to get this licence. You can learn more about the different categories and the rules they apply to by looking over your driving license information online.

You can also fly drones that have the maximum weight of 4kg in the A2 category However, they must be kept at a safe distance from people when taking off and landing. The distances of separation are vertical, not lateral, and the drones must be kept to 30m or more horizontally from uninvolved people or 5m when they're in 'low-speed mode'. You also must pass the A2 Certificate of Competence (A2 CofC) exam to fly in this class.

If you want to fly larger drones, you will need to apply for a specific category operator's permit and this requires completion of the General VLOS Certificate (GVC) training and flight assessment, as well as preparing an Operations Manual. The process for applying for a specific category permit is very similar to a PfCO and you can learn more about the requirements in our detailed guide.

A2 permits you to fly transitional drones that aren't CE-marked, but have been modified to reduce the risk of collisions with other people. These drones will only be permitted to fly in A2 up until the end of 2022. After that, they'll need to comply with the A3 rules.

The A1 and A2 categories are designed to assist you in becoming a safe and confident motorcyclist. The amount of lessons you'll have to complete will depend on your level of ability and progress, but a prescribed amount of special rides must be completed. This includes at least five lessons on country roads or highways, as well as three lessons in darkness or dawn.

A3

This category allows drones with a maximum takeoff mass of 25 kg. It is a lower-risk operation but stringent precautions should be taken to mitigate potential incidents. A distance of 150m is required between drones and residential, commercial, industrial, and recreational areas. This is also a requirement for drones to be equipped with a remote identification system and geoawareness systems.

This tier is also divided into sub-categories, A1, A2 or even A3. The A1 subcategory permits flights over people who are not involved and is only reserved for drones with a Class identification label C0 or C1. It must be at least 30 meters of separation from third parties while flying at a flight height 5 meters in slow flight mode.

Drones that have a Class identification label C2 are able to be operated in subcategory A2 provided the drone meets the size requirements and the remote pilot passes an additional test of theoretical knowledge. This exam is designed to test the remote pilot's knowledge of the technical and operational mitigations to reduce the risks of flying larger drones (class C2, below 4kg mass) close to people. The certificate of ability to fly Category A2 is awarded upon successful completion of this test.

There are transitional arrangements that permit older drones, which are not certified, to be operated in the categories A1 and/or A2 for two years following the implementation of the new EU regulations. The drones of the past cannot be used to fly over people and must be equipped with an A2 CofC.

To operate drones in this category, you must pass the regular online flyer ID test, and then complete an additional theory exam. Additionally, you must declare that you have gained some practical knowledge of your drone, and submit an official declaration of competency. These requirements are similar to the driving license model in that a driver who first obtains their license for a vehicle in a lower category is then able to move on to a higher category.

A4

The DOH is currently working on specific guidelines to be used in category A4. These guidelines will be in line with other operations and will include details like the number of dressings that are changed each day. These guidelines will be presented to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infections, (IATF-EID), and the DOH National Immunization Technical Advisory Group. The IATF-EID and the DOH-National Immunization Technical Advisory Group will review and approve these guidelines before they are finalized.

Drones with the label of class identification C0 or C1 may be flying within 50 metres of people who are not involved in the incident. This is a relatively low-risk subcategory, but stringent precautions must be taken to prevent accidents. Drones that do not fall in either A1 or A2 must have passed an additional theoretical knowledge examination to operate in this subcategory.

This test is designed to assess the knowledge of the additional risks associated with flying drones near people. The certificate of competence is issued upon the successful completion of this test. The operator must also keep at least 30 metres from an uninvolved person or 5 metres when flying in slow flight mode.

You will need to take an amount of lessons to pass the theory test and then you have to pass the practical test. It's based on your age, skills and progress in learning. A minimum of 12 90-minute classes must be completed.

In these classes you will become familiar with your vehicle and traffic laws. You will also learn valuable tips regarding how to drive in difficult situations. In addition to the mandatory lessons, you must attend a specified number of special rides.

The new category E effectively blends the classes A1 (retail), A2 (financial services and professional services), B1 (offices) and A4 (restaurants/cafes), and B5 for takeaway hot food. This category also includes health/medical purposes, creches and nursery schools, as well as indoor sports/recreational facilities. get more info licensing system is expected simplify and reduce costs. It will also allow landlords to utilize their buildings in ways not currently permitted.
