Despite the apparent coupling of demographic and climatic oscillations, our data rejected simultaneous population structuring due to historical habitat fragmentation. Here, we employ a microfluidic platform to dissect the impact of cocoon size and intracapsular cell number on the regenerative potential of transplanted heart explant-derived cells. Deterministic increases in cocoon size boosted the proportion of multicellular aggregates within cocoons, reduced vascular clearance of transplanted cells and enhanced stimulation of endogenous repair. The latter being attributable to cell-cell stimulation of cytokine and extracellular vesicle production while also broadening of the miRNA cargo within extracellular vesicles. Thus, by tuning cocoon size and cell occupancy, the paracrine signature and retention of transplanted cells can be enhanced to promote paracrine stimulation of endogenous tissue repair. Pseudoaneurysm of the uterine artery or branches is usually a result of vascular trauma during invasive procedures such as cesarean section, vaginal delivery, myomectomy, hysterotomy or dilatation and curettage. Uterine artery pseudoaneurysm rupture is a rare, yet life-threatening event. Deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) usually decrease in symptoms and imaging findings throughout pregnancy, with the notable exception of the phenomenon of decidualization. We present a pregnant woman with a recent diagnosis of endometriosis, who conceived spontaneously and presented with disabling pain at 13weeks gestation. She was diagnosed with a left huge (rapidly growing) retro cervical endometriosis nodule encompassing uterine artery pseudoaneurysm. Selective transarterial embolization was performed at 22 week's gestation due to enlargement of the pseudoaneurysm sac, and the pseudoaneurysm was successfully obliterated. The patient was followed intensively throughout the pregnancy and was delivered at term by cesarean section. After delivery the nodule returned to the pre gestational size. INTRODUCTION Historically cystic fibrosis (CF), in contrast to primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD), has been considered protective of the middle ear from otitis media and rarely were such patients "severely affected" to require tympanostomy tube placement (BMT). Previously the Pittsburgh Otitis Media Research group reported a 10% prevalence of otitis media in the pediatric CF population which is significantly lower than age matched non-CF children. We studied the prevalence of OM in pediatric CF patients to assess if the otologic phenotype has changed in parallel with changes in the diagnosis itself. METHODS The medical records of 133 CF patients seen either inpatient or outpatient from one of the largest tertiary pediatric CF centers in the world from 2010 to 2019 were reviewed for demographics, acute otitis media (AOM) episodes, risk factors for AOM, placement of myringotomy tubes, genotype, BMI, pancreatic status, respiratory culture results, and pulmonary exacerbations. RESULTS Just over half (52.6%) the patients were male. A median age for CF diagnosis was 11 days old (range 0 days-16 years). The most common genotype (49.6%) was homozygous for ΔF508 mutation. Fifty-five (41.4%) patients had 1-2 episodes of AOM, and 15 (11.3%) were severely affected (i.e. ≥3 episodes/6 months or ≥4 episodes/year). COME was diagnosed in 4 (3.0%) of the patients. Twelve (9.0%) patients had tympanostomy tubes at least once, including 3 patients with multiple sets of tubes. Our study investigated the advantage of peripheral vision on central vision during a scene categorization task (indoor vs. outdoor). In Experiment 1, we used large scene photographs from which we built one central disk and four circular rings of different eccentricities. The central disk either contained or not an object semantically related to the scene category. Results showed better categorization performances for the peripheral rings, despite the presence of an object in central vision that was semantically related to the scene category that significantly improved categorization performances. In Experiment 2, the central disk and rings were assembled from Central to Peripheral vision (CtP sequence) or from Peripheral to Central vision (PtC sequence). Results revealed better performances for PtC than CtP sequences, except when no central object was present under rapid categorization constraints. As Experiment 3 suggested that the PtC advantage was not explained by a reduction of the visibility of the object in the central disk by the surrounding peripheral rings (CtP sequence), results are interpreted in the context of a predominant coarse-to-fine processing during scene categorization, with greater efficiency and utility of coarse peripheral vision relative to fine central vision during rapid scene categorization.
