Implications for Cancer Survivors Although existing technology-assisted interventions are overall promising, research support for cancer survivors from different age groups and with different psychosocial challenges varies and should be considered individually.Latino sexual minority men (LSMM) are disproportionately affected by HIV in the United States. Concurrently, behavioral health disparities, including mental health and substance use concerns, worsen HIV disparities affecting LSMM. Yet, evidence-based HIV prevention and behavioral health services are insufficiently scaled up and out to this population, perpetuating health disparities, thwarting efforts to control the HIV epidemic, and highlighting the need for culturally relevant evidence-based implementation strategies that address these disparities. Participants included 28 LSMM with varying degrees of engagement in HIV prevention and behavioral health services, and 10 stakeholders with experience delivering HIV prevention and behavioral health services to LSMM in South Florida, an HIV epicenter in general and in particular for LSMM. Participants completed semistructured interviews (English/Spanish) regarding LSMM's barriers and facilitators to engaging in HIV prevention and behavioral health services. Interviews were audio recorded and analyzed using thematic analysis. The 16 themes that emerged from the qualitative analysis were consistent with the consolidated framework for implementation research, an implementation research framework that articulates barriers and facilitators to implementing clinical interventions. Findings suggested the need for implementation strategies that simplify and reduce costs of HIV prevention and behavioral health services, address syndemic challenges impacting service use among LSMM, reduce stigma about service utilization, leverage peer networks, increase provider and community knowledge about services, and build LSMM's readiness and motivation to engage in services. Such strategies may ultimately address HIV and behavioral health disparities among LSMM and facilitate achievement of ending the HIV epidemic goals in this disproportionally affected population.A sizable portion of youth (ages 13-24) living with HIV in the United States have unsuppressed viral load. The AIDS Interventions (ATN) 152 study [evaluating the Triggered Escalating Real-Time Adherence (TERA) intervention] baseline data were examined to identify correlates of high viremia (>5000 copies/mL) and self-reported adherence, which can help in planning of differentiated services for viremic youth. Depression, HIV-stigma, and cannabis use were common in this sample of 87 youth. Almost half (48%) had high viremia, which associated with enacted stigma, moderate- to high-risk alcohol use, mental health diagnosis, and age ≥21. Self-reported adherence was related to viral load and associated with mental and physical health functioning, depression, social support, self-confident decision-making, total and internalized stigma, adherence motivation, and report of a missed a care visit in the past 6 months. Mental health emerged as a common correlate of viral load and adherence. In 1995, like many maternity hospitals in the United States, BMC had policies that routinely separated mothers from their babies, limited breastfeeding education for staff, provided no hospital-funded lactation consultants, and did not initiate any limitations on the presence of the formula industry in the hospital. This all changed in 1999 when BMC became the first Baby-Friendly designated hospital in Massachusetts and the 22nd in the nation. Objective Describe challenges encountered on the hospital's journey to Baby-Friendly and subsequent re-designations and share strategies used to overcome them. Materials and Methods Policy changes and new programs instituted over the twenty-year period are described as well as personal reflections on change by the author. Results Over the time period chronicled, improvements in breastfeeding initiation and exclusivity rates were observed. Methods A comprehensive literature search was performed in PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, SinoMed (the Chinese biomedical literature service system), and the Wiley Online Library. Overall comparisons and subgroup analyses based on ethnicity and the presence of dental caries in dentition were performed. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to assess associations between gene polymorphisms and the risk of dental caries. Results Seven articles were included in this meta-analysis. The pooled results revealed a significant association of the TaqI (rs731236 T>C) polymorphism with dental caries in the allele contrast model (C vs. T OR = 1.24, 95% CI = 1.07-1.44, I2 = 42%, p = 0.005) and in the recessive genetic model (CC vs. TT/CT OR = 1.38, 95% CI = 1.03-1.84, I2 = 0%, p = 0.03).
