Peyronie's disease (PD) is an acquired wound-healing disorder of the penis involving fibrosis and scar formation within the tunica albuginea that can lead to various penile deformities resulting in penile pain, sexual dysfunction, low self-esteem, and emotional distress. While many studies highlight the psychosocial impact of PD on the patient, little is known about the female partner's experience regarding PD and its management.

To evaluate and summarize the available clinical data on the effects of the disease and its management on female sexual partners of patients with PD.

A search of the available medical literature using the MEDLINE and PubMed databases was performed. The queried terms included the following Peyronie's disease, partner, female, dyspareunia, relationship, satisfaction, survey, and outcome. Studies were included only if the female sexual partners were directly evaluated or interviewed.

Non-invasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like features (NIFTP) is a recently characterized lesion with very low malignant potential. This has allowed for less aggressive management of this tumor subtype. Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) has malignant potential and requires different considerations in management.

A 33-year-old woman presented to our Thyroid Surgery Clinic with a left neck swelling slowly enlarging over 4 years, and recent right-sided neck pain. Neck ultrasound and fine needle aspiration for cytology found bilateral thyroid nodules, labelled as 'follicular lesion of undetermined significance' (FLUS). Final pathology report after total thyroidectomy identified four distinct tumors bilateral NIFTP lesions and bilateral papillary microcarcinomas.

Management of NIFTP comprises partial or total thyroidectomy without further intervention. Management of PTC is the same but with the possible addition of radioactive ablation due to the increased malignant potential. This is the fireeds to be watchful for any recurrence or metastasis.
Most patients who undergo bariatric surgery experience significant weight loss and improvements in obesity-related co-morbidities in the first 6-18 months after surgery. However, 20%-30% of patients experience suboptimal weight loss or significant weight regain within the first few postoperative years. Psychosocial functioning may contribute to suboptimal weight loss and/or postoperative psychosocial distress.

The present study included a larger (n = 300) and more racially diverse (70% non-White) sample than previous studies of these relationships. Forty-eight percent of participants had a current psychiatric diagnosis and 78% had at least 1 lifetime diagnosis. Anxiety disorders were the most common current diagnosis (25%); major depressive disorder was the most common lifetime diagnosis (44%). Approximately 6% of participants had a current alcohol or substance use disorder; 7% had a positive drug screen before surgery. A current psychiatric diagnosis was associated with greater symptoms of food addiction and night eating. Current diagnosis of alcohol use disorder or a lifetime diagnosis of anxiety disorders was associated with higher delay discounting.

Spontaneous portosystemic shunts (SPSS) are common in cirrhosis. Their characterization and clinical implications remain unclear.

To devise a system of assessment of these shunts, and assess their clinical implications METHODS We retrospectively studied patients with cirrhosis who underwent imaging in a liver transplant program. see more A novel index was computed to assess total SPSS -the diameter of a circle having an area equivalent to the sum of the areas of all the existing shunts. This 'SPSS equivalent diameter' was compared with the clinical variables.

62-77) had SPSS, and 57% (CI
62-77) had multiple SPSS. The risk for SPSS was related to the severity of cirrhosis (Child-Pugh B/C vs. A OR 2.4 CI
