The effect of LOXL1 KO, effect of POP, effect of culture, and effect of elastogenic treatment on the changes in elastin fiber characteristics were tested using vaginal tissues from wild type multiparous (WT), LOXL1 KO multiparous prolapsed (POP) and LOXL1 KO multiparous non-prolapsed (NP) mice. Our results show significantly higher mean aspect ratio, maximum diameter and perimeter length in POP compared to NP after 3 weeks of tissue culture. Further, treatment of POP tissues in culture with growth factors with previously documented elastogenic effects caused a significant increase in the mean area and perimeter length of elastic fibers. This technique thus appears to be useful in quantifying structural changes and can be used to assess the pathophysiology of POP and the effect of elastogenic treatments with potential for POP.
To elucidate the relationship between partial blink rate (PBR) and ocular surface parameters.

We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study of the patients who visited the Kim's Eye Hospital between March 2020 and July 2020. Blinking dynamics, tear film lipid layer thickness (LLT), non-invasive tear film break- up time (NITBUT), tear meniscus height (TMH), and meibomian gland (MG) dropout rate were assessed using the IDRA
Ocular surface analyzer (SBM SISTEMI, Inc., Torino, Italy) (IDRA). Dry eye symptoms were quantified by the Standard Patient Evaluation of Eye Dryness (SPEED) questionnaire scores.

A total of 47 non-Sjögren dry eye patients (47 right eyes, mean age = 56.8 ± 14.5 [20-75] years, 66% female) were enrolled. Among the ocular surface parameters, PBR had strong correlations with MG dropout rate (r = 0.811;p < 0.01) and moderate correlations with SPEED scores (r = 0.596; p < 0.01). MG dropout rate and age had moderate correlations with SPEED scores (r = 0.416; p = 0.04 and r = 0.322;p = 0.03, respectively). Comparisons by sex revealed no significant difference in characteristics, except for the TMH value. The TMH of female patients (0.17 ± 0.07) was significantly higher than that of males (0.14 ± 0.04; p = 0.04). Pifithrin-α LLT showed no significant correlation with the other variables.

deficiency and no neurological examination finding.

The study group includes of thirty-three children aged 8-17years who were brought to the Pediatric outpatient clinic with the symptoms of fatigue and forgetfulness and whose Vitamin B
levels were detected < 200pg/ml. The control group was the 30 children and adolescents applied to the same policlinic with various symptoms and whose Vitamin B
levels were found normal. Children and adolescents with chronic systemic/ocular disease history and myopia or hyperopia more than 4 diopters were not included in both groups. Spectral Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) was used for measurements.

Mean Macular thickness value was 261.2 ± 17.6 in the Vitamin B
deficiency group and 267.7 ± 17.4 in the control group. Mean value of Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer (RNFL) thickness was 103.5 ± 7.5 in the Vitamin B
deficiency group and 104.3 ± 8.9 in the control group. The mean values of Choroidal thickness were 360.1 ± 59.8 and 316.9 ± 95.4 in Vitamin B
deficiency and control groups, respectively. There was a statistically significant increase in choroidal thickness in Vitamin B
deficiency group compared to controls.

Statistically significant increase in the Choroidal thicknesses of children and adolescents with Vitamin B
deficiency is important in terms of shedding light on studies that will contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between vitamin B
and inflammation.

This study is an observational study.With the introduction of the New Rural Social Pension Scheme (NRSPS), pension coverage in rural China has increased substantially during the last decade. We investigate how the new public pension benefits influence intergenerational transfers and subjective well-being of older adults in rural China using panel data from the 2011 and 2013 waves of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). The results of our first-difference regression models show that receiving a public pension goes along with an increase in intergenerational financial support and has a positive impact on the subjective well-being of older adults in rural China. Our analysis represents one of the first studies examining the effects of the introduction of the NRSPS from a longitudinal perspective. The results demonstrate that public pension benefits as a form of institutional financial support are beneficial to the well-being of older adults, while they do not hinder intergenerational exchange.
Heterorhabdits indica successfully controlled apple root borer Dorysthenes huegelii in the orchards, but nematode-infected cadavers revealed the presence of non-symbiotic bacterial B. subtilis and B. licheniformis, and no subsequent generations of H. indica were produced (hampered recycling phenomenon). Intrigued, we tested the effect of the two Bacillus species on symbiotic association of H. indica-Photorhabdus luminescens.

One-to-one competitive parallel line in vitro assays were carried out between P. luminescens and the two Bacillus spp., while in vivo H. indica development was studied on the test insect Galleria mellonella which were fed with Bacillus mixed diet, followed by nematode exposure.

Where P. luminescens was flanked by either of the two Bacillus species, only B. subtilis significantly suppressed its growth, while in reversed assays both the Bacillus growth was unaffected. Heterorhabditis indica was able to kill Galleria larvae pre-fed with the two Bacillus spp.; these cadavers did not develop the characteristic evenly distributed brick red coloration.
