utic temperature for those who originally have low SS.
Half of the patients were eligible for the MRgFUS thalamotomy based on the SS, and nearly 20% of patients were empirically difficult to achieve a therapeutic temperature during MRgFUS. The SS and our cSDR are highly correlated, and the SS had a higher correlation with aTBI than with aCBI. This is the first report to explicitly reveal the SS population and indicate a potential way to increase the chance to achieve a therapeutic temperature for those who originally have low SS.Background Heart rate variability (HRV), defined as the variability between consecutive heartbeats, is a surrogate measure of cardiac vagal tone. It is widely accepted that a decreased HRV is associated to several risk factors and cardiovascular diseases. However, a possible association between HRV and altered cerebral hemodynamics is still debated, suffering from HRV short-term measures and the paucity of high-resolution deep cerebral data. We propose a computational approach to evaluate the deep cerebral and central hemodynamics subject to physiological alterations of HRV in an ideal young healthy patient at rest. Methods The cardiovascular-cerebral model is composed by electrical components able to reproduce the response of the different cardiovascular regions and their features. The model was validated over more than thirty studies and recently exploited to understand the hemodynamic mechanisms between cardiac arrythmia and cognitive deficit. Three configurations (baseline, increased HRV, and decreased HRbral circulations, the optimal HRV configuration is found at baseline. Given the relation inversely linking HRV and HR, the presence of this optimal condition can contribute to explain why the mean HR of the general population settles around the baseline value (70 bpm).
Hearing loss and cigarette smoking are major challenges that affect public health in China. Revealing the effect of smoking on hearing loss in the Chinese general population is critical for hearing health protection. We investigated the relationship between smoking status and hearing loss in China, especially in stratified sex and age groups.

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 4685 individuals aged 20- 80 years in Zhejiang province from 2016 to 2018, with audiometric testing for hearing loss and a structured questionnaire for collecting smoking status and covariates. Logistic regression was used to estimate the association between smoking and hearing loss.

Cigarette smoking was not significantly associated with hearing loss in females and young males. In middle-aged males, after adjusting for covariates, current smokers and past smokers had a significantly higher prevalence of speech-frequency loss (OR=1.65; 95% CI 1.17-2.33 and OR=1.88; 95% CI 1.11-3.17; respectively) and high-frequency hearing loss (OR=2.01; 95% CI 1.43-2.84 and OR=2.64; 95% CI 1.50-4.66; respectively). In older males, only past smokers had a significantly higher prevalence of speech-frequency hearing loss than never smokers (OR=2.58; 95% CI 1.38-4.85). Regarding middle-aged and older current smokers, a dose-dependent relationship between smoking intensity and hearing loss was found. Passive smoking was not significantly associated with an increased hearing loss risk in all the three male groups.

The relationship between cigarette smoking and hearing loss varied according to gender and age. Therefore, the interventions for smoking need to be tailored according to age in males.

This is the second species of Pilarella known, and the first description of a male in the genus. The new species is easily distinguished from other species of Pilarella (P. longicornis) based on (1) short caudal rami, approximately 1.5 times longer than wide; (2) 2 setae on the mandibular endopod; (3) 6 setae on the maxillular coxal epipodite; and (4) in the female, a short left antennule reaching the posterior border of the genital double-somite. The new diagnosis of Pilarella differs from Metacalanus in the separation of ancestral segments IX-XII and XIV-XV of the antennule, and the presence of 5-6 setae on the maxillular praecoxal arthrite. Pilarella is also separated from Metacalanalis based on the absence of a seta on the third ancestral segment of the antennary exopod, the symmetry of legs 1-3, the presence of a medial basal seta on the female leg 5, and 2 lateral exopodal spines on the female leg 5. A molecular phylogenetic analysis of some representative genera of the family Arietellidae, including the present new species, recovers two arietellid clades (Metacalanus- and Arietellus-clades) as in previous studies. Dichotomous keys for the genera of Arietellidae and the species of Pilarella are included.Four new species of the genus Gasteruption Latreille, 1797 (Hymenoptera Evanioidea Gasteruptiidae Gasteruptiinae) are described from China. Three are from Shaanxi (NW China; G. granulatum Tan & van Achterberg, sp. nov., G. pedion Tan & van Achterberg, sp. nov., and G. reductum Tan & van Achterberg, sp. nov.) and one from S China and Ningxia (G. kexinae Tan & van Achterberg, sp. nov.). read more Eleven species are newly recorded for Shaanxi (G. abeillei Kieffer, 1912, G. amoyense Pasteels, 1958, G. bimaculatum Pasteels, 1958, G. corniculigerum Enderlein, 1913, G. latitibia Zhao, van Achterberg & Xu, 2012, G. minutum (Tournier, 1877), G. nigritarse (Thomson, 1883), G. parvicollarium Enderlein, 1913, G. sinarum Kieffer, 1911, G. subtile (Thomson, 1883) and G. brevicuspis Kieffer, 1911). The newly-recorded species and the new species are keyed and illustrated. Two new synonyms are proposed G. rufescenticorne Enderlein, 1913, with G. japonicum Cameron, 1888, syn. nov. and G. oriplanum Kieffer, 1911, with G. minutum (Tournier, 1877), syn. nov.
Malaria is a leading public health problem in Ethiopia. Every year, thousands of seasonal farm workers travel to farm corridors in Northwest Ethiopia and fall at risk of malaria infection. However, the magnitude of malaria infection and risk factors during harvest time were not well identified. This study aimed at estimating the prevalence and risk factors of malaria infection among seasonal migrant workers in Northwest Ethiopia.

A repeated cross-sectional study was conducted at transit and destination phases in Metema district from September 15, 2018 to October 30, 2019. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. A capillary blood sample was collected to examine infection with malaria parasite using a microscope. A multivariate logistic regression technique was used to determine risk factors.

The malaria prevalence at transit and destination phases among migrant workers was 13.5% (95% CI 12.07-14.93%) and 18.7% (95% CI 16.40-21.02%), respectively. The combined prevalence was 16.1% (95% CI 14.
