(1) Background Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is considered as an efficient treatment method for alleviating motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD), while different stimulation frequency effects on the specific neuron patterns at the cellular level remain unknown. (2) Methods In this work, nanocomposites-modified implantable microelectrode arrays (MEAs) were fabricated to synchronously record changes of dopamine (DA) concentration and striatal neuron firing in the striatum during subthalamic nucleus DBS, and different responses of medium spiny projecting neurons (MSNs) and fast spiking interneurons (FSIs) to DBS were analyzed. (3) Results DA concentration and striatal neuron spike firing rate showed a similar change as DBS frequency changed from 10 to 350 Hz. Note that the increases in DA concentration (3.11 ± 0.67 μM) and neural spike firing rate (15.24 ± 2.71 Hz) were maximal after the stimulation at 100 Hz. The MSNs firing response to DBS was significant, especially at 100 Hz, while the FSIs remained stable after various stimulations. (4) Conclusions DBS shows the greatest regulatory effect on DA concentration and MSNs firing rate at 100 Hz stimulation. This implantable MEA in the recording of the neurotransmitter and neural spike pattern response to DBS provides a new insight to understand the mechanism of PD at the cellular level.One of the principal etiological agents associated with losses in horticultural crops is the fungus Colletotrichum sp. Chitosan capsules present a promising strategy in the use of C. citratus EO on C. gloeosporioides, and they are highly effective and stable under in vitro and field conditions.Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) based proton-conducting solid polymer electrolyte was prepared with a high salt concentration of ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3) by the technique of solvent casting. From the X-ray diffraction studies, the semicrystalline nature of PVA with the inclusion of NH4NO3 was studied. XRD analysis indicates that the highest ion conductive sample exhibits the minimum crystalline nature. The decreasing trend of Jonscher-exponent with temperature rise reveals that the present system is insured by the correlated barrier hopping (CBH) model. The maximum room temperature conductivity was found to be 5.17 × 10-5 S/cm for PVA loaded 30 wt.% of NH4NO3. Thus, the aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of documented treatment with colistin monotherapy versus colistin plus meropenem in critically ill patients with CRAB infections at Chiang Mai University Hospital (CMUH). We conducted a retrospective cohort study of critically ill patients with CRAB infections in an ICU from 2015 to 2017, who received colistin monotherapy versus colistin plus meropenem. MethyleneBlue After propensity score matching, an adjusted odds ratio (aOR) of a 30-day mortality rate in patients who received colistin plus meropenem was 0.43 compared to those who received colistin monotherapy (95% CI, 0.23-0.82, p = 0.01). aORs of clinical response and microbiological response were also higher in patients who received colistin plus meropenem (1.81, 95% CI 1.01-3.26, p = 0.048 and 2.08, 95% CI 1.11-3.91, p = 0.023, respectively). There was no significant difference in nephrotoxicity (aOR, 0.76, 95% CI, 0.43-1.36, p = 0.363) between colistin monotherapy and colistin plus meropenem. In conclusion, the addition of meropenem to colistin caused a reduction in 30-day mortality, higher clinical and microbiological responses, and did not increase nephrotoxicity compared to colistin monotherapy. Methods Electroencephalogram (EEG) and ERPs were recorded at 128 leads, with two ear referents. Images of different visual scenes were presented to the study participants sequentially on a monitor screen. The participants' task was to examine these images and indicate what emotions (negative, neutral or positive) they elicit. Comparison of event-related potentials was carried out using unpaired Student t-test in EEGLAB toolbox. Results COMT. A stronger reaction, as reflected in the amplitude of the ERPs, in participants with the recessive homozygous Met/Met genotype was observed on latency around 200 ms to the stimuli, assessed as positive. Carriers of dominant homozygous Val/Val genotype had higher amplitude of 200 ms peak when assessed scene images as either neutral or negative in comparison to other genotypes.
