DS caused reproductive toxicity represented by minimized sperm count, individual sperm motility and viability; depleted concentration of reduced glutathione (GSH) in testicular tissue; and decreased testosterone level with alteration in testicular histological features. In contrast, co-treatment of DS intoxicated rats with EGLME protected rats against the adverse effects of DS revealing enhancing properties of EGLME on rats' liver, kidney and testes. In conclusion, we demonstrated that EGLME had a potent protecting property against DS induced hepatic, renal and testicular toxicity in male rats, with special concern to testicular tissue via modulation of GSH as an oxidant marker.

In 1995, a rapid response project for humanitarian and medical emergencies, including outbreak responses, named '
' (PUC), was implemented in the Democratic Republic of Congo by Médecins Sans Frontières.

To assess the outcomes of cholera and measles outbreak alerts that were received in the PUC surveillance system between 2016 and 2018.

Overall, 459 outbreak alerts were detected, respectively 69% and 31% for cholera and measles. Of these, 32% were actively detected and 68% passively detected. All people with HIV who screen negative for active tuberculosis (TB) should receive isoniazid preventive therapy (IPT). IPT implementation remains substantially below the 90% WHO target. This study sought to further understanding of IPT prescription by piloting a simplified prescribing approach.

This was a mixed-methods implementation study.

Nine providers were recruited and underwent training on 2018 WHO guidelines. A simplified prescribing tool containing antiretroviral therapy (ART) and IPT prescriptions was introduced into the workflow for 2 weeks. Prescription data were collected from file review. Interviews were conducted with prescribers.

During the study period, 41 patients were evaluated for ART initiation; 34 (83%) files used the simplified prescribing tool. Thirty-seven (90%) patients were eligible for same-day ART and IPT initiation, of whom 36 (97%) received IPT prescription. Qualitative interviews identified the following barriers to IPT prescription cognitive burden, extensive documentation, limited management support, paucity of training, stock-outs, and patient-related factors. Provider acceptability of the tool was favorable, with unanimous recommendation to colleagues on the basis of streamlining documentation and reminding to prescribe.

India's National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) covers diagnostic and therapeutic costs of TB treatment. However, persons living with TB (PLWTB) continue to experience financial distress due to direct costs (payment for testing, treatment, travel, hospitalization, and nutritional supplements) and indirect costs (lost wages, loan interest, and cost of domestic helpers).

To analyze the magnitude and pattern of TB-related costs from the perspective of Indian PLWTB.

We identified relevant articles using key search terms ('tuberculosis,' 'India,' 'cost,' 'expenditures,' 'financing,' 'catastrophic' and 'out of pocket') and calculated variance-weighted mean costs.

Indian patients incur substantial direct costs (mean US$46.8). Mean indirect costs (US$666.6) constitute 93.4% of the net costs. Mean direct costs before diagnosis can be up to four-fold that of costs during treatment. Treatment in the private sector can result in costs up to six-fold higher than in government facilities. As many as one in three PLWTB in India experience catastrophic costs.

PLWTB in India face high direct and indirect costs.
