Benefits of a Built in Microwave Over Oven
A built-in microwave over an oven lets you cook and reheat food quickly and efficiently. GE offers a variety of designs, cooking techniques and control options to suit your kitchen's needs.
Countertop microwaves sit on the counter and plug into an outlet and built-in models are installed on a recessed wall or between cabinets for an elegant, built-in appearance. These models require professional installation.
Space Saver
The microwave is a well-loved appliance in the kitchen, but can also occupy valuable countertop space. There are a variety of clever ways to make the most of your counter space by moving your microwave to an alternative location, such as in an island in the kitchen or recessing it into the wall.
One of the most well-known options is an over the range (OTR) microwave. This model is conveniently hidden behind your stove can be extremely useful in kitchens with a small space. Some OTR models can also be used as an exhaust for your cooktop. This can help to reduce steam buildup.
Installing a microwave integrated into your cabinetry can help you save space. This can give you an elegant, seamless appearance that can match your kitchen's cabinets and fixtures in finish, color, or style. It can also provide a more streamlined look in your kitchen. This is ideal for homeowners who want an uncluttered, clean appearance.
However, installing a built-in microwave might require a professional installation or remodeling of your kitchen. You may be able depending on the layout of your home to cut an opening in the wall to install the appliance. However it will require professional framing and reinforcement. Built-in microwaves require ventilation to avoid overheating and damaging the appliance. According to Sam Cipiti, vice president of R. M. Tunis Kitchens and Baths in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the minimum cabinet depth for a built-in microwave is approximately 15 inches. However, some manufacturers provide trim kits that provide up to 1 1/2 inches of additional space for ventilation.
oven with integrated microwave that is built like a drawer can be placed under your counter or inside an island. This configuration is easy to access and is suitable for all users and requires less countertop space. It also helps to prevent hot dishes or containers from falling off the edge of the microwave or getting crushed.
The final aspect to consider for the space-saving microwave is the door design. Many manufacturers offer an open, swing-out or slide-out door that opens in the same motion as other kitchen appliances to allow you to seamlessly integrate your microwave into your cooking routine. Some models feature a sleek and smooth exterior that resists fingerprints for an attractive, cleaner appearance.
Convenience
Built-in microwaves in ovens look attractive, practical and easy to clean. They are typically placed near the eye level to make it easier to access and come with turntables that make it easier to move food from one plate to another. Built-in microwaves are typically equipped with features that enhance their utility, for instance EasyConvection technology to convert ovens and a broiler element which can brown or crisp food.
A built-in microwave over the oven will save counter space, and can also boost the value of your home by giving it a sleek and high-end appearance that other appliances may not be able to match. These microwaves can be installed above the stove, or in a separate cupboard. They blend seamlessly into the kitchen to give it a tailored appearance that demonstrates how much you've invested in your home and kitchen.
Built-in microwaves and ovens are available in a variety of sizes as well as power levels and features that can be adapted to fit any kitchen. Install them under the counter in drawer style to give a more integrated appearance that is a perfect fit within the cabinetry. This requires no additional space. Designed with premium finishes and top-of-the-line features These microwaves are guaranteed to enhance the look of your kitchen and elevate your cooking and entertaining experience.
Although the built-in microwave over ovens are handy however they aren't as versatile as their counterparts that stand alone. It may take more space for your microwave to operate, depending on where it is installed. They are also not as mobile, and you aren't able to easily switch the model should you want something else.
If you put your microwave above your range, you'll need an additional kitchen space to accommodate the ventilation system that is required by this arrangement. You'll need a ducting option that directs smoke to the outside, or a ventilator that recirculates air through the microwave into the home. Consider a built-in microwave to small kitchens. It can be mounted on a wall, cabinet or even an island.
Convenient Controls
Microwaves offer a wide variety of controls based on the model. Some features include turntables presets like defrosting or reheating, and buttons that can last for up to 30 minutes. Some models offer child safety features to prevent accidental operation of the appliance.
Many microwaves come with pre-programmed recipes and cooking times to make the process of preparing meals more efficient and less time-consuming. This feature is useful for those who are just beginning to cook and are uncertain of the proper time to cook certain foods or who are unfamiliar with the specific cooking techniques used in different cuisines.
KitchenAid provides a variety of built-in microwaves as well as over-the-range microwaves that can be matched to your other appliances with style and finish for seamless appearance. You can find a selection of stainless steel models, and black finishes to complement any kitchen design. These premium microwaves are boldly designed to bring professional-inspired styles into your home, and they're made with high-quality materials for a longer lifespan.
Built-in microwaves, unlike countertop models, are placed in a fixed space of your kitchen cabinets or walls to give an elegant and unique look. They typically use the same internal components as regular countertop models, with some exceptions. These models are available in a variety of sizes, and some are designed to fit in smaller spaces. Their exteriors may have a door which opens with a swing-out that opens from left to right or in drop-down style.
Certain microwaves over the range, such as those from Whirlpool(r), even double as vent hoods to your kitchen stove. They have an exhaust system that is built-in to vent fumes outside and recycle air. Some microwaves come with a built-in charcoal filter to eliminate odors and moisture from your kitchen.
Countertop models are placed on the kitchen counter. They don't require venting or any special installation. This makes them an ideal option for people who rent their homes or save money on costly changes to their kitchens. Certain models include trim kits that can be used to fill the gap between a microwave and other countertop appliances like coffee pots, toaster ovens or bread makers.
Energy Efficiency
Microwaves require less energy to cook water and food than other cooking methods. They also use less power than stovetops that are conventional because microwaves focus their energy on the liquid inside instead of heating the air surrounding it. They can also heat dishes faster than conventional ovens. They can be installed either within the upper or lower cabinets and are available in modern or retro designs to suit any kitchen.
In this supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking ("SNOPR"), the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (DOE) proposes new or revised energy conservation standards for microwave ovens that save consumers money on their operating costs. The Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) requires DOE to evaluate on a regular basis whether stricter standards are technically feasible and economically justified and will yield significant energy savings.
This SNOPR contains the analyses and findings that DOE conducted to assess the effects on consumers of the new or amended energy conservation standards for microwave ovens. The analysis includes a market and technology assessment screening and engineering analysis, and a national impact analysis.
The energy use analysis estimates the annual average microwave ovens operating hours in the sample of households. This analysis is used to calculate energy savings as well as other consumer analysis within this SNOPR. The analysis is based on RECS field data gathered from various regions. It also takes into consideration different microwave oven usage patterns in different households, as and regional variations in electricity prices.
To assess the impact of possible changes or new standards on household operating costs, DOE conducted LCC and PBP analyses to estimate the lifetime cost of buying and using microwave ovens at different efficiency levels. The LCC and PBP calculations employ a computer model based on Monte Carlo simulations to incorporate variations and uncertainty into the analysis.
This SNOPR includes an analysis of the impact of amended or new standards on the national scale based on the NIA spreadsheet. The NIA model estimates the industry's net present value ("INPV") in terms of energy savings resulting from the potential amendment or new standards in the form of energy savings at the site and FFC energy savings.
