Primary small bowel melanoma is a very rare clinical entity with a paucity of publications in literature. Most cases of gastrointestinal melanomas are metastatic lesions arising generally from primary lesion of the skin, eyes, or anus. We present a case of a small bowel intussusception with primary malignant melanoma as lead point and a gluteal melanoma metastasis after four years free from disease.

A 77-year-old female has come to our attention with signs and symptoms of intestinal occlusion. She was subjected to a computerized tomography (CT) of the abdomen and pelvis that revealed small bowel intussusception caused by intestinal polypoid lesion. She was treated with a bowel resection. The histological exam has shown the presence of an amelanocytic malignant melanoma. The examination of skin, eyes, esophagus, colon and anus, a tot al body contrast- enhanced CT and a bone scintigraphy were negative for primary melanoma. So, the final diagnosis was primary melanoma of the ileum. After four-years disease-free survival, the patient came back to our attention for a gluteal melanoma metastasis, that was surgically removed. Afterwards she started immunotherapy, that is still ongoing.

The diagnosis and the treatment of primary intestinal melanoma is a challenging due to the lack of scientific indications. Our case shows how an early diagnosis, although accidental, can offer a good survival free from disease. Moreover, a careful follow-up of our patients allows us to promptly identify neoplasm recurrence or distant metastasis that can be treated with surgery and systematic therapy.

Dissipative effects are included by phenomenological viscoelastic terms. By construction, the model is consistent with the second law of thermodynamics. We study well-posedness of the model in two space dimensions, i.e., existence of weak solutions, a weak-strong uniqueness principle, and stability with respect to perturbations, which are proven by means of relative energy estimates. Our numerical simulations based on the new viscoelastic phase separation model are in good agreement with physical experiments. Furthermore, a good qualitative agreement with mesoscopic simulations is observed.
Orthorexia Nervosa (ON) and exercise addiction (ExAdd) are two phenomena believed to overlap. We conducted a meta-analysis exploring the link between ON and (addictive) exercise behaviors.

A systematic review of major databases and gray literature was carried out for studies reporting on ON and (addictive) exercise behaviors. Random effects meta-analyses were undertaken calculating correlations between ON and (addictive) exercise behaviors. Vismodegib mouse A sub-group analysis investigated gender differences.

Twenty-five studies with 10,134 participants (mean age = 25.21; 56.4% female) were included. Analyses showed a small overall correlation between ON and exercise (21 studies, r = 0.12, 95% CI |0.06-0.18|) and a medium overall correlation between ON and ExAdd (7 studies, r = 0.29, 95% CI |0.13-0.45|). Gender differences were negligible.

The increasing demand for mental health care, a lack of mental health care providers, and unequal access to mental health care services have created a need for innovative approaches to mental health care. Digital device apps, including digital therapeutics, that provide recommendations and feedback for dealing with stress, depression, and other mental health issues can be used to adjust mood and ultimately show promise to help meet this demand. In addition, the recommendations delivered through such apps can also be tailored to an individual's needs (ie, personalized) and thereby potentially provide greater benefits than traditional "one-size-fits-all" recommendations.

This study aims to characterize individual transitions from one emotional state to another during the prolonged use of a digital app designed to provide a user with guided meditations based on their initial, potentially negative, emotional state. Understanding the factors that mediate such transitions can lead to improved recommendations fon eliciting a healthy transition but only under certain conditions. In addition, we observed gender and age effects on these transitions.
