This study examined the presence of MRSA in 400 samples comprising 200 raw milks (145 from goat and 55 from sheep) and 200 nasal swabs (145 from goats and 55 from sheep) collected from ten different locations in Abeokuta, Nigeria. Samples were examined using standard bacteriological methods for the isolation and identification of Staphylococcus aureus and culture on oxacillin (6 μg/ml) and cefoxitin (2 μg/ml) selective media for the detection of MRSA. Suspected MRSA isolates were confirmed by latex agglutination test for the detection of penicillin-binding protein 2a (PBP2a). Antibiotic susceptibility testing was determined by Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method. Staphylococcus aureus was detected in 72 (18%) of 400 samples of which 52 (13%) were confirmed as MRSA. Methods This randomized-controlled trial was done at the Pediatric department of a public hospital in India between 20 May, 2017 and 22 March, 2018, and enrolled children (aged 6-12 y) with Migraine without aura as per International Classification for Headache Disorders, 3rd edition (ICHD-3) criteria. The 50 patients (21 females, mean age 9.9 y) consecutively enrolled were randomized by block randomization to two study groups, with one group (n = 25) receiving oral paracetamol (15 mg/kg/dose) and the other group (n = 25) oral ibuprofen (10 mg/kg/dose), at home, during a single episode of acute migraine headache. The study drugs were dispensed in a blinded fashion. Pain-freedom (score of zero in a 0-10 Visual analogue pain scale) and Pain-relief (≥2-point reduction from the baseline) two-hours after the study drug intake were the primary outcomes. Side-effects to the study drugs were actively solicited. Non-parametric tests for paired data were used. Results The two groups were similar at baseline. Forty-three children (22 paracetamol group and 21 ibuprofen group) completed the study. Both pain-freedom (32% vs. 28%, P = 0.77) and pain-relief (80% vs. 80%, P = 0.86) were not significantly different between the Paracetamol and Ibuprofen groups, respectively. Methods This retrospective cohort study includes data from 19 hospitals in the Universal Health Services network. We compared rates of TXA use between January 2015 and June 2019 across geographic sectors. We also evaluated associations of demographic variables and perinatal outcomes of women who received TXA. Results 209 cases of TXA use were found from analysis of 101,564 deliveries. TXA use increased over time and rates were higher in the West than in Central and East; the slope of increase over years did not differ between regions. Women who received TXA were more likely to have a history of postpartum hemorrhage (59 (28.2%) vs. 2290 (2.2%), P less then 0.0001) but were not more likely to have a chronic disease, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension and heart disease.
